32: Involution! The geniuses of the university
The taxi landed smoothly.
Qin Lang and Su Muyue stepped out of the car, and a majestic White Marble Archway stood before them.
The archway was smooth and lustrous, emitting a faint spiritual glow, silently proclaiming the prestige of this top-tier Gene Academy.
Due to the disturbance from the Shadow Demon Clan, both Kunlun Academy and Olympus Academy made an exception to allow early registration.
The school gate was bustling with people. The Favored Sons of Heaven from all over the Yanhuang Alliance gathered here, and the air was filled with an aura called “pride.”
Su Muyue showed the Special Token that the school leaders had previously given her.
Thus, while other students were queuing in long lines under the scorching sun, she was already walking down an unimpeded Green Channel.
In less than an hour, all the complicated enrollment procedures were completed.
The two walked side-by-side through the ancient campus; the Bluestone Path beneath their feet seemed to bear the weight of history.
However, the atmosphere here was completely contrary to this antiquity.
Qin Lang looked around and saw that every student was rushing.
They were either hurrying toward a Cultivation spot or simply sitting cross-legged on the spot, seizing every second to absorb the free biological energy in the air.
“The pace here... is so fast.”
Muyue couldn't help but sigh softly, tightening her grip on the corner of Qin Lang's clothes.
Qin Lang neither confirmed nor denied it, merely finding it a bit amusing.
Soon, the two were drawn to a massive Stone Monument.
The monument was dozens of meters high, densely inscribed with golden lettering detailing the various Power Rankings within the academy.
Everything was included, from freshman combat power to Senior student contributions, from individual Cultivation levels to team points.
Su Muyue curiously leaned closer, her amber eyes quickly scanning from top to bottom.
“Oh my god!”
She couldn't help but gasp, extending a slender jade finger to point at the top few names on the list.
“Qin Lang, look!”
“This Senior named Xiang Kunlun, he's only twenty, yet he's already a Fourth-Tier Gene War Sovereign!”
Her voice was filled with disbelief.
“And this one, Lei Zhen, is also Fourth-Tier!”
“Below... there are actually dozens of Third-Tier ones!”
The dazzling names on the list, and the awe-inspiring Cultivation levels behind them, were like a bucket of cold water, extinguishing the faint spark of pride that had just ignited in Su Muyue's heart.
In Tiandu, she might still be considered a Favored Daughter of Heaven.
But here, in Kunlun Academy, where Geniuses gathered and Prodigies were everywhere, her talent seemed to instantly dim into insignificance.
A hint of frustration involuntarily appeared on the girl's delicate face.
Qin Lang looked at her expression and suddenly smiled.
He reached out and gently ruffled her hair, messing up her smooth ponytail slightly.
“Stop looking.”
“Trust me.”
“It won't be long before the names on these rankings are all beneath our feet.”
His voice was calm, yet it seemed to carry a strange magic that instantly reassured Su Muyue.
“Mhm!”
She nodded heavily, and the light in her eyes brightened once more.
Just as the atmosphere between them was good and they were about to continue wandering, a familiar figure appeared nearby without warning.
That graceful and noble temperament, that well-maintained figure—it was precisely Su Muyue's mother, Shangguan Yan.
The smile on Su Muyue's face instantly froze.
“Mom?!”
She gasped, her entire body seemingly fixed in place by an Immobilization Technique, instinctively wanting to hide behind Qin Lang.
“Didn't... didn't you go back to Tiandu?”
Shangguan Yan wore a gentle smile, acting as if she hadn't noticed her daughter's guilty demeanor.
“I just couldn't bear to leave you alone.”
“I stayed behind specifically to help you set up your dorm room.”
As she spoke, her gaze landed on Qin Lang.
That gaze—calm, deep, and devoid of emotion—made Qin Lang feel an invisible pressure.
He knew very well in his heart.
Helping set up the dorm room was just an excuse.
Monitoring him and Su Muyue, and preventing them from repeating her past mistakes, was the true goal of this Mother-in-law.
He didn't expose her, but politely stepped forward and proactively took the large suitcases floating beside Shangguan Yan.
“Auntie, let me help you.”
Shangguan Yan didn't speak, just nodded slightly, tacitly accepting his help.
Along the way, the atmosphere was subtle.
Shangguan Yan didn't converse with Qin Lang the whole time, but her peripheral vision subtly remained fixed on him, as if she were inspecting a piece of merchandise.
After settling Su Muyue and her luggage in the lavish Single Dorm Room, Qin Lang voluntarily took his leave.
He found a decent hotel near the academy to stay in, planning to check out Olympus Academy the next day.
Early the next morning.
As soon as Qin Lang arrived at the entrance of Olympus Academy, he saw the beautiful figure who had been waiting for a long time.
Today, Su Muyue was wearing a white Kunlun Academy uniform, her chestnut hair tied into a playful high ponytail, radiating youthful vigor.
“Qin Lang!”
She happily waved her arms and jogged over.
“I've already contacted my Mentor!”
“Starting today, I'm going to devote all my energy to Evolving!”
The girl's eyes sparkled with infinite anticipation for the future.
The two walked side-by-side into Olympus Academy.
The architectural style here was completely different from the ancient charm of Kunlun Academy, full of modern technology and metallic texture, resembling a futuristic city.
But the tense, suffocating atmosphere of “Involution” was even more intense here.
Students were visible everywhere, either sweating profusely in Virtual Combat Rooms or challenging their limits in Gravity Training Rooms, wishing they could split one minute into two.
Qin Lang learned that the academy not only provided students with extremely rich Cultivation resources but also had a nearly rigorous assessment System and numerous competitive activities.
In this high-pressure environment, the choice of a Mentor was almost decisive for a student's future development.
A good Mentor could not only provide valuable guidance but also bring resource advantages unimaginable to ordinary students.
Qin Lang, who was determined to “Lie Flat,” had his own calculations regarding this.
What he wanted was not the most responsible or powerful Mentor.
But the most “Buddhist Style” and hands-off Mentor.
He stopped a passing Senior student and quietly slipped him several large-denomination Credit Chips.
“Senior, excuse me.”
“I wanted to ask if our academy has a Mentor who... well, has a relatively free teaching style and doesn't manage students much?”
That Senior originally saw he was just a freshman and didn't want to bother.
But upon seeing the Credit Chips, his expression instantly became enthusiastic.
“Junior, you've certainly asked the right person!”
The Senior lowered his voice and leaned in mysteriously.
“If you're talking ‘Buddhist Style,’ our academy truly has such a Divine Being!”
“Five-Star Gene Grandmaster, Fei Changqing!”
“This esteemed man is a legend of our Olympus Academy!”
“The old gentleman is famous for his extremely ‘Buddhist Style’ management; his students barely see him all year. Essentially, they are free-range, ignored completely.”
“If you want some peace and quiet, choosing him is definitely the right move!”
These words instantly made Qin Lang's eyes light up.
Ignored completely?
Isn't this the “Dream Mentor” tailor-made just for him!
“Thank you, Senior!”
Qin Lang, satisfied, bid farewell to the enthusiastic Senior and walked straight toward the academy's Academic Affairs Center.
On the academy's Mentor selection System, he unhesitatingly found Fei Changqing's name and decisively submitted his Application to become a Disciple.
