162: Chapter 162 The Grand Finale

(The specific details are at the end)

Later on.

The setting sun's afterglow lazily spilled into the living room, dyeing the entire space in a warm amber hue.

Outside the window, the dilapidated city skyline appeared exceptionally desolate in the twilight, but inside this White Jade Building, a rare atmosphere of warmth permeated the air.

The enticing aroma of sautéed spring onions wafted from the kitchen, while the range hood let out a low hum.

Mu Xue, wearing an apron, was busily working in front of the stove in a fluster, her stray hairs dampened by sweat and clinging to her smooth forehead.

"Su Bai, what are you doing?" she called out without turning around, her voice carrying a hint of anxiety.

In the living room, Su Bai leaned lazily against a corner of the sofa, his back cushioned by a soft pillow, with his long legs resting casually on the edge of the coffee table.

Lin Wan sat at a table to one side, reading a book in her hands.

"Watching TV," Su Bai replied nonchalantly, his gaze still fixed on the television screen.

"Quick, come help me take a look! Why is this smoking?!" Mu Xue's voice suddenly rose, filled with obvious panic.

Su Bai finally stood up unhurriedly and strolled toward the kitchen. As soon as he pushed the door open, he was choked into a coughing fit by a faceful of black smoke.

He rushed to the stove, swiftly turned off the gas, and shook his head helplessly. "I told you not to do it, but you insisted."

"I just wanted to try," Mu Xue pouted, her face full of grievance, still clutching the spatula in her hand—a rather comical sight.

Just then, Lin Wan also walked in after hearing the commotion. She lightly fanned away the smoke in front of her and said softly, "Go on out, leave this to me."

"Don't, you're still pregnant. I can handle this," Mu Xue quickly refused, only to see that Lin Wan had already put on another apron.

"It's only been a few months; I'm not that fragile," Lin Wan laughed and gave Mu Xue a gentle push. "Hurry on out, or you'll end up burning this whole building down."

"Alright, honey, head on out," Su Bai said, taking Mu Xue's hand. He then added to Lin Wan, "Or we could just go out to eat; there's no need to eat at home."

"Home-cooked meals are cleaner," Lin Wan replied, then began tidying up briskly.

After Sponge's car accident, I haven't written this book for a long time, and I've basically forgotten the plot. I've been telling everyone in the group chat that I'd start a new book around the 15th.

But in reality, I only got home the day before yesterday and am currently pondering what would be best to write for the new book.

This time, I can say I've reclaimed my life. I almost became a Sponge who vanished instantly without even saying goodbye.

Sigh, thinking back on it still scares me, and my hands are even trembling a bit.

But fortunately, in the end, Sponge survived. A beautiful life must continue, and it's time for my writing soul to awaken once again.

But I always feel like my head is still dizzy. My poor head has a gash in it.

Lately, I'm a Bald Sponge.

This book was originally meant to be finished, but I really didn't expect this. It's such a pity.

See you in the next book~

As for what the new book will be about, I really haven't decided yet. Most importantly, I haven't decided whether to write a historical or modern setting.

I actually have a slight idea of the general plot direction, but this particular issue hasn't been settled yet.

Since Sponge has never written a historical setting before, I don't really have much confidence.

But I still want to give it a try. Sigh~

Alright, the reason I'm writing so much is entirely because the word count was too low to allow the upload.

Hehe.

Love you all, Sponge.

Oh, everyone please stay safe~~~ Life is precious~
