405: The Land of Ghosts

"Have you forgotten how we were traveling along smoothly before, only to encounter danger in the end? Do you think we can survive another time?"

"I don't know either. Besides, isn't it better to be comfortable like we are now? Must you insist on talking back to me!"

Wu Wenlong felt that he was just cursed with bad luck; he was always the first one to get hurt. It wasn't that he wanted to hold everyone back, but these people knew all too well that he was the soft target here.

"Stop talking nonsense. Let's move on quickly. Isn't wasting time here just asking for trouble?"

Yue Xiaojie didn't understand the situation between these two; at times they seemed to have a grudge, but at other times, it didn't seem to be the case at all.

The palace corridors wound around, but in the end, they all led to a single path.

Walking to the end, a stone door appeared before them.

There was a small hole above the stone door. Yue Xiaojie peered through the crack and discovered that a corpse was lying inside.

"Ah!!"

Yue Xiaojie let out a shriek, nearly scared to death.

"What's wrong? What's wrong?"

Yue Xiaojie turned around, her eyes fixed on Wu Wenlong behind her.

"What happened to her?"

Wu Wenlong asked, frowning.

"See for yourself!"

Wu Wenlong looked over and was also startled to see the corpse lying behind the stone door.

They all thought it was an empty room, but who would have known that the corpse lying there was none other than Wu Wenlong himself.

"Fuck, is he sick in the head? Even at a time like this, he still has to gross me out!"

"..."

Zhou Xun and the others chose to remain silent. They hadn't expected to see Wu Wenlong's corpse here, especially since the man himself was still alive.

"Something's not right. This corpse doesn't look like a prop, and the face..."

Zhou Xun, who was examining it, stopped mid-sentence, not daring to say anything more.

But even without him saying it out loud, the others could guess what Zhou Xun wanted to say.

"So what does this mean? This thing looks too exaggerated!"

"..."

"..."

"Then what do you suggest we do now?"

"How would I know?"

"..."

Yue Xiaojie looked around at everyone and, realizing that no one knew what to do, suddenly had an idea.

"How about we burn it?"

Wu Wenlong nodded frantically; he truly felt that these things were terrifying to look at.

"Better not burn it. While this thing looks strange, who knows if other things will appear after it's destroyed? It's better to avoid unnecessary trouble and just leave this place!"

Yue Xiaojie thought about it and agreed that this made sense.

"Let's go quickly!"

Wu Wenlong said, looking at the corpse on the ground.

"Aren't you afraid it might reanimate?"

"I'm afraid you might reanimate!"

Wu Wenlong glared at Yue Xiaojie and turned to run outside.

He had realized by now that few people here would help him, and with so many ghostly occurrences happening, anyone would feel their heart tremble.

None of them noticed that after they left, Wu Wenlong's corpse underwent a drastic change.

"Creak, creak!"

Chen Tianming, who was clearing the path in front, kept thinking about that corpse of Wu Wenlong.

"Brother Chen, do you think if we keep going, we'll find more corpses of Zhou Xun or Yue Xiaojie?"

Although he knew that Wu Wenlong was saying this just to drag others down with him, this kind of thing was still a taboo for them, and they all avoided it intentionally or unintentionally.

After all, they were still standing there in one piece, yet someone was already starting to hold a funeral ceremony for them—wasn't that even more ridiculous?

"Instead of dwelling on this issue, we might as well spend our time considering other things!"

Zhou Xun couldn't stand seeing such a scene unfold; after all, it wasn't exactly friendly for them.

"Zhou Xun, I know you are very unhappy with my behavior, but this is an unavoidable fact. We need to cooperate often while we are here, not be at each other's throats like this!"

"..."

Zhou Xun sighed helplessly. Everyone had originally thought their current situation was relatively stable, but they hadn't expected changes to arise so suddenly at this moment.

"Fine, I admit I was wrong just now. I apologize to you!"

"Hmph, good thing you know what's good for you!"

"So what should we do now?"

Wu Wenlong looked around. There had indeed been many strange things along the way, which made one feel fearful and forced them to be vigilant.

This place was too bizarre. No matter how he thought about it, he felt they absolutely couldn't stay here for long!

"Let's first look for other passages. Regardless, this place is truly eerily strange. It's better for us to leave this troubled place sooner rather than later, to avoid any problems!"

After saying this, Zhou Xun turned and left.

"What do you all think is going on with this place?"

"I'm not sure what kind of place this is either, but seeing so many strange things here, I always feel it's not simple!"

"Why are you all looking at me? Did I say something wrong?"

Zhou Xun scanned everyone with some dissatisfaction.

"Of course not. It's just that don't you think everything happening here is too coincidental?"

"Coincidental?"

Upon hearing this, Zhou Xun actually felt that these things were inevitable.

"Fine, we won't say anything more. I think we should wait until we get out to talk about these things."

The others didn't say anything more.

"Since we've already come this far, it's impossible not to explore a bit, right?"

"Then let's go!"

Wu Wenlong glanced at everyone and turned to leave.

"Wu Wenlong, are you sure there's anything worth exploring here?"

Yue Xiaojie glanced at Wu Wenlong. She didn't know what was wrong with him; he always seemed full of caution toward this place, as if something here could eat him alive.

"That's for sure. All we need to do is try our best to avoid danger; this place is too bizarre."

As Wu Wenlong said this, he didn't forget to stomp his foot on the corpse in front of him.

Seeing this, the others didn't say anything more.

"Let's leave quickly."

"Mm."

Yue Xiaojie replied.

When they turned back, they realized that Chen Tianming had left them far behind, looking as if he were about to leave on his own.

This made everyone feel strange.

"What is Chen Tianming doing?"

"Yeah, shouldn't Brother Chen be walking with us?"

Zhou Xun frowned: "He must have discovered something suspicious in here."

"Suspicious? What's suspicious about this place? Why can't I see it?"

Wu Wenlong also felt it was strange; apart from being a bit weird, he still felt there was nothing special about this place.
