58: Chapter 58: Premium Locust Meat! A massive, oppressive battle between behemoths!

Director An Lei was terrified to his core, his cognitive perception shattered and rebuilt once again!

Even though he had already encountered fantastical things like the supernatural and Transmigration, when a mythical creature, a "Dragon," appeared alive before him, the shocking scene that made even his Soul tremble still left him unable to calm down for a long time!

It was at this moment that the "Dragon" at the bottom of the pool seemed to have discovered his prying eyes.

It turned its head, scanned him with its scarlet eyes for a few moments, and then sank back into the depths of the pool, motionless.

"...Am I... being ignored?"

Director An Lei had originally thought his first Transmigration might be coming to an end, but it seemed the "Dragon" felt he didn't have enough meat on his bones to even be worth a second glance.

"Sometimes, being too weak is also the beginning of good luck..."

Director An Lei set aside his relief. He observed the surrounding aquatic environment and began to think: how could he grow quickly?

Since the Origin Continent was a land of the supernatural, only by stepping into the supernatural could one truly walk the Righteous Path.

However, his current crayfish body was too weak; it couldn't even withstand a slightly larger wave, let alone settle down to Cultivate.

No, I don't have much time; I can't wait to grow up slowly. The only strategy now is to find a shortcut!

Thinking of this, Director An Lei decided to be a bit bolder. He swam toward the bank to see if there were any Opportunities on land.

Ten minutes later, as he paddled with his not-yet-hardened front limbs and reached the bank, he actually encountered a pleasant surprise!

"A locust carcass left over from a meal!"

"This locust is half the size of a foot; I suppose it must have undergone some supernatural evolution, right?"

He swam ashore and crawled a difficult distance. Director An Lei couldn't care about his nausea; his tiny body lay upon the locust carcass, and he gnawed desperately at the remaining chunks of meat.

"This locust must have been dead for a day or two, yet the carcass shows no signs of decay. Moreover, the taste of this leftover meat is delicious; it feels better than Wagyu beef from the real world!"

As Director An Lei gnawed, he couldn't help but nod, developing a bit of a "craving" for creatures that had undergone supernatural evolution.

After eating only a piece of locust meat the size of half a fingernail, he felt full. He then burrowed into a pile of dead branches and leaves under the nearby grass and began to digest and absorb it at full speed.

Surprisingly, this meat, nourished by Spiritual Qi, wasn't difficult to digest. With his full focus, he finished digesting it in just over half an hour.

By this time, he felt his crayfish body had grown a bit larger. His soft front limbs and shell had also become hard, as if coated in a layer of metal, looking very shiny and smooth.

Immediately after, Director An Lei crawled out from the dead leaves again, wanting to eat more of that dead locust.

However, the result surprised him: two or three fire-red ants were dismembering the locust carcass, seemingly intending to move it into their anthill.

"This is the resource for my growth; how can I let you drag it away..."

"It's perfect to use you to test the strength of my front limbs."

He slowly approached through the gaps in the dense grass. Upon reaching his hunting range, with a "pop," Director An Lei's crayfish body suddenly leaped out, waving his black front limbs, and directly crushed one of the fire-red ants first!

With a turn of his body, he quickly eliminated all the other fire-red ants that were dismembering the locust carcass!

"Ants always move in groups. Since the pheromone signal back is missing here, I'm afraid a batch of fire-red soldier ants will arrive soon!"

"I must move the locust carcass elsewhere and hide it first!"

With the thought settled, Director An Lei began to act. He specifically picked the "fattest" chunks of meat from the locust, his front limbs crunching and cutting as he dragged the detached meat into the pile of dead leaves.

About half an hour later, just as Director An Lei was comfortably lying under the dead leaves enjoying the fatty meat, he heard a slight movement coming from the locust carcass.

He peeked over and, sure enough, saw two large ant soldier units searching for something there.

It seemed the death of those few fire-red ants had attracted the attention of this group of "low-level species."

"Once I refine and absorb all these hidden, fatty, tender chunks of meat, my crayfish body should be able to step into the [Micro-Evolution] level..."

Turning his gaze back to the few thumb-sized chunks of meat hidden under the dead leaves, Director An Lei pondered to himself. Immediately, he closed his eyes, calmed his heart, and entered the state of refinement once again.

More than ten hours later, as the crisp humming sound inside his body faded away, Director An Lei comfortably exhaled a breath of stale air.

"After working hard for over a day, I've finally entered the [Micro-Evolution] level..."

Director An Lei opened his compound eyes and examined his crayfish body. He discovered that his size had increased two or three times, now about the size of a palm.

A hazy energy faintly flowed over his black pincers. With just a thought, he could channel it and erupt with several times his normal strength!

"Is this... supernatural power?"

"It's mysterious and unpredictable; it truly deserves to be something that can transform a mortal body and allow one to step into a brand-new level of life!"

Director An Lei exclaimed, sensing it for a while.

Next, he looked at the lush and flourishing environment around him and couldn't help but ponder. He had been too weak before, but with his current physical strength, he thought he could now perceive the Spirit Energy Factor flowing through the world!

Only by absorbing the Spirit Energy Factor could his crayfish body get on the right track, advance triumphantly, and welcome the era of supernatural evolution.

Boom! Just as Director An Lei was about to take action, a powerful airflow suddenly erupted violently in the surroundings!

Amidst the chaos of splashing mud and flying grass and trees, Director An Lei gripped a blade of grass root tightly, barely managing to resist being blown away by the airflow.

"Hiss—!"

It was at this moment, when a blood-curdling screech rang out, that he saw clearly that the airflow had come from—the pool where he was born!

The one screeching was none other than the huge "Dragon" at the bottom of the pool!

Director An Lei shifted his compound eyes and saw another behemoth, half a person tall, on the bank of the pool, seemingly provoking the Dragon and forcing it to emerge from the bottom of the pool.

"Is this... a chicken?"

"No, that's wrong. This grayish-yellow wild chicken has 'atavistically evolved'!"

"It has become a... little Dinosaur Chicken!!"

As Director An Lei thought in astonishment, the Dragon could no longer hold back. With a swoosh, it darted out from the bottom of the pool. Opening its blood-red maw, it bit straight toward the "Dinosaur Chicken"!

"Cluck-cluck-da~"

The Dinosaur Chicken excitedly cried out to the sky, its small eyes flickering with a hint of intelligence. Just as the Dragon was about to bite, it raised its sharp claws, which looked like steel bars, and slashed across the air toward the Dragon's scarlet eyes!

The Dragon's intelligence seemed not as high as the Dinosaur Chicken's; facing the sharp claws, it didn't dodge at all, as if it intended to swallow it in one bite.

Sss-!

Due to the Dragon's misjudgment, the Dinosaur Chicken's sharp claws pierced its snout. When it pulled with force, it nearly sliced its upper jaw in two!

Blood spilled from mid-air, falling into the pool and onto the surrounding grass, inciting a frenzy of competition among some small animals like fish and shrimp.

"This is all top-quality 'Precious Blood'; it's such a pity to waste it like this..."

Seeing the "Dragon blood" scattered everywhere, Director An Lei couldn't stop his drool. He wanted to go up and snatch a drop, but thinking that the battle between the two giants hadn't ended yet, he could only continue to lay low.
