38: The mage runs faster than the warrior? Monte Town

"Ding! You killed [Mutated Man-eating Flower Lv12], gaining 65 experience points and 10 copper coins!"

"Ding! You killed [Mutated Man-eating Flower Lv12]......"

......

"Ding! Your level has increased to 13, gaining 3 free attribute points!"

"Ding! The [Entry Grant] talent has taken effect, granting the golden entry [Holy Fire]!"

[Holy Fire]: Gold Quality

Effect Description: When the bestowed skill is a fire-type skill and the target is a dark-type, the damage type is converted to true damage.

------

"Fire-type skill..."

His only fire-type skill was Protective Flame, but its range was too small, only 4 meters.

Most of the time, he fought from a distance, rarely able to utilize the damage from Protective Flame.

"I'll keep it for now..."

As soon as he closed the panel, he received a message about equipment sales.

"Ding! All the equipment you put up for sale has been sold, totaling 34.2 gold coins!"

At the same time, Lu Ziming also sent him a message.

A few minutes later, the two parties met up.

The Super Dad, as expected, stood in the team, staring at him with burning eyes.

Chen Beixuan felt a bit creeped out by his gaze and quickly averted his eyes.

Just then, Lu Ziming mysteriously leaned in and whispered, "Grandpa, how did you convince the Super Dad to join the guild? I was stunned when I saw him apply."

"Hmm... that's not important. What's important is that with him, you'll have an even better chance of making it into the top 32," Chen Beixuan said casually.

Since the Super Dad hadn't mentioned the test, he wouldn't bring it up either.

After all, he was the second-ranked expert, so he should be given some face.

Lu Ziming chuckled foolishly and nodded heavily, overjoyed.

With both the first and second ranked helping him, getting into the top 32 would be a piece of cake.

It's a sure thing! A sure thing!

Then, everyone got down to business, and Lu Ziming shared his class transfer quest.

[Legend of the Dark Swordsman]: Class Transfer Quest (Gold)

Quest Condition 1: Kill 100 monsters 4 levels higher than yourself (0/100).

Quest Condition 2: Go to Mont Town and perform the [Black Curtain Investigation] quest, achieving an A-rank or higher rating.

Quest Condition 3: Kill the Bronze-tier BOSS [Dark Swordsman Trick].

------

The quest didn't require solo completion, which was different from his own class transfer quest.

The main difficulties should be how to get an A-rank rating, and the final Bronze-tier BOSS.

Chen Beixuan thought to himself.

Just then, Lu Ziming spoke, "Originally, I planned to wait for Little Qiang and the others to complete their class transfers first, and then have them help me with this quest."

"But now that Grandpa is here, it shouldn't be a big problem."

Chen Beixuan nodded, "No time to lose, let's go."

Everyone nodded in unison and formed a team.

Due to the addition of Chen Beixuan and the Super Dad.

The priest in the team voluntarily gave up his spot and stayed in the main city to explore.

Mont Town did not have a teleportation array, so they could only run there.

The six of them sprinted on the road...

The assassin and the archer were at the very front, Chen Beixuan was third.

Lu Ziming was fourth,

and the Super Dad and Mage Xiao Zhou lagged behind, getting further and further away.

"No, Grandpa, why are you running so fast? Wait for us!"

Lu Ziming's expression was quite dejected.

Even with all his might, he couldn't catch up to Chen Beixuan.

A mage running faster than him, a warrior – how could that be!?

The Super Dad was also holding his breath and chasing hard, secretly competing.

But alas, movement speed was limited; it couldn't be changed by holding one's breath.

Chen Beixuan looked back at the three of them, shaking his head slightly.

"If this were in the city, they wouldn't even catch my exhaust..."

The assassin Xiao Liu and archer Xiao Li in front were equally shocked.

They were both agile professions and had skills to increase movement speed, so it was normal for them to be in front.

But Grandpa was just a mage, and he could actually keep up with them!

It was utterly outrageous!

"Ding! Proficiency full, Swift as the Wind level increased to 2 stars! Next level (1/400)"

Chen Beixuan's speed increased again, from a 20% movement speed bonus to 30%.

Soon, he gradually surpassed the archer Xiao Li, who watched in shock.

Xiao Li was utterly bewildered, how did he get faster again!?

How could he endure this!

An archer losing to a mage, and an old mage at that!

It was utterly humiliating!

......

Finally, upon reaching Mont Town, Chen Beixuan maintained his second-place position.

The first-place assassin Xiao Liu and everyone behind him all breathed a sigh of relief.

They thought that Grandpa's movement speed was, after all, no match for an assassin.

If he was first in every aspect, then they really wouldn't want to play anymore.

Chen Beixuan, however, frowned slightly, looking at the prompt and muttering, "It's too late..."

"Ding! Proficiency full, Swift as the Wind level increased to 3 stars! Next level (3/800)"

The 30% movement speed bonus increased to 40%.

Unfortunately, they had already arrived, so there was no chance to show it off...

......

Mont Town is located at the border; beyond it lies the territory of other countries.

It is separated by a dark Black Curtain, connecting Cherry Blossom, Mao Xiong, and Bangzi.

When the national war opens, a battle is inevitable sooner or later.

Though called a town, it was generally somewhat dilapidated, with smoke lingering beneath the city walls.

The soldiers in the city were covered in wounds and exhausted, clearly having just experienced a major battle.

After some inquiry, they learned.

Dark monsters would continuously emerge from the dark Black Curtain.

When their numbers reached a certain point, it would trigger a monster tide to attack the city.

This situation had been ongoing for many years.

There had been no less than eight hundred, if not a thousand, teams sent to explore the Black Curtain world.

But no one had ever come out alive, and the situation inside remained unknown to this day.

Even important figures from the Light Church had come to investigate, but they were unable to enter.

The Black Curtain had special rules, limiting the strength of those who could enter.

The prompt Chen Beixuan and the others received indicated that players below level 20 could enter, while those level 20 and above could not.

"The goal of the quest should be to go into the Black Curtain for investigation, but we don't know who to trigger the quest from yet."

Lu Ziming concluded after organizing all the information.

Just then, Chen Beixuan pointed to the tallest building in the distance and said,

"Go ask the town chief; he must know something."

Everyone looked in the direction he pointed, and a three-story building came into view...

......

"Town Chief! Someone wants to voluntarily enter the Black Curtain to investigate!"

His subordinate frantically knocked on the town chief's door, speaking excitedly.

The town chief, named Boqi, was a short, stout man.

He had small eyes, a red nose, a small handlebar mustache under his nose, and wore warrior armor.

Upon hearing that someone wanted to voluntarily enter the Black Curtain, his eyes lit up.

"Oh? Please, bring them in quickly!"

The Black Curtain incident in Mont Town had long been infamous.

Countless teams had gone in but never came out, making it extremely dangerous.

It had become a place teams avoided at all costs.

He didn't know if this group of people was courageous or simply young and naive.

They actually volunteered to enter the Black Curtain for investigation!

It was rare to have a team come; he absolutely couldn't let... uh, absolutely couldn't neglect them!

The town chief quickly tidied his appearance, sat behind his desk, and eagerly awaited their arrival.

Before long, his subordinate brought the people in...
