8: Chapter 8 The Red Hound Under the Shirt
10:30 PM, past the halfway point of the Hour of the Boar.
The autumn rain in Jiangzhou City fell thick and continuous, showing no signs of stopping.
The streetlights in the old district cast hazy, dim yellow halos through the rain and mist, making Taiping Old Street appear even more eerie and desolate.
In the second-floor bedroom of Lins Funeral Shop, Lin Ye stood before the wardrobe, searching for the gear he needed for tonight's job.
He remembered that when the old man left, he had left behind a sandalwood box with brass-reinforced corners.
Lin Ye skillfully flicked open the brass lock and took out a seven-section peach wood sword, dark red in color and marked with natural lightning-strike patterns.
There was also a box of "Pure Yang Powder" mixed from top-grade cinnabar, black dog blood, and rooster crown blood, as well as a brass San Yuan Feng Shui compass.
"The place I'm going to tonight is a haunted house. Linjiang Road is naturally a low-lying area in Jiangzhou City that gathers Yin energy, and with that blood-stained old wood they dug up, I'm afraid this job won't be easy."
As Lin Ye calculated in his mind, he stuffed several stacks of drawn yellow paper talismans into his black tactical canvas bag.
Just then, a very faint rustling sound came from behind him.
"Husband, is the way I am dressed... perhaps a bit improper?"
Lin Ye turned around at the sound, and his brain instantly went "buzz."
A rush of hot blood shot straight to his crown, and he almost dropped the peach wood sword in his hand.
He saw Leng Yue standing by the bed, looking somewhat uneasy.
Her black ancient dress, which had been buried underground for a thousand years, was now completely shredded into strips of cloth and could not be worn out.
Therefore, Lin Ye had no choice but to dig out a loose white men's shirt from the wardrobe for her to wear.
However, Lin Ye had severely underestimated Leng Yue's proud body proportions.
This white shirt, which was slightly loose on Lin Ye, looked incredibly alluring when worn on Leng Yue's tall, 1.82-meter frame, enough to make one have a nosebleed.
The hem of the shirt barely covered the tops of her thighs.
With her movements, that pair of stunningly beautiful, flawless legs, whiter than frost and snow, were almost completely exposed to the air.
"..."
Leng Yue's long, silver-white hair cascaded over the white shirt like a waterfall.
One hand was still futilely tugging at the hem of the shirt, attempting to cover more of her exposed skin.
"Ahem... well, you see, propriety isn't really that strictly observed after the founding of the country."
Lin Ye swallowed hard and forced himself to shift his gaze away from that bottomless neckline.
"Wife, dressing like this... is very modern, very nice."
"Nice... what does that mean?" Leng Yue tilted her head slightly, appearing somewhat adorable and dazed.
Before Lin Ye could explain, a small figure suddenly darted out from the side, wearing a bright yellow little duck raincoat.
"Brother-in-law, you big pervert! Your eyes are staring straight!"
Frost Star poked her head out from behind Lin Ye, her heterochromatic eyes full of jealousy.
She was wearing a child-sized yellow raincoat with two duck eyes on the hood, which, combined with her yandere, black-bellied loli face, created a full sense of contrast.
"What do you know? This is called appreciating art."
Lin Ye rubbed the duck head on Frost Star's hood, annoyed.
Leng Yue looked at the canvas bag Lin Ye had strapped on, her deep red eyes gradually returning to their usual coldness and gravity.
She strode forward with her long legs, walking barefoot to Lin Ye, and a cold fragrance mixed with the scent of Manjusaka and rainwater instantly enveloped him.
"Husband, are you going to suppress evil spirits tonight?"
Leng Yue's voice was soft, yet carried an unquestionable tone.
"Yeah, took a job to earn some money to buy high-year ginseng, otherwise you two will drain me alive." Lin Ye smiled bitterly.
Leng Yue frowned slightly: "Husband has a Pure Yang Dao Body. Traveling on this rainy night is like being a torch in the dark, extremely easy to attract fierce ghosts from all directions. Your Yang energy is too strong; it needs to be masked with extreme Yin energy."
"Mask? How do I mask it..."
Before Lin Ye could finish his sentence, Leng Yue suddenly took a step forward.
Her long, slender, and ice-cold arms wrapped around Lin Ye's neck like a spirit snake.
Since they were of similar height, she only needed to stand on tiptoe slightly for her stunningly cold face to be almost pressed against Lin Ye's.
"..."
"Don't move."
A flash of golden-red light flickered deep in Leng Yue's eyes, her voice low as if it had hooks.
She tilted her head slightly, and her cold, soft lips...
"..."
"..."
"Whew..."
Leng Yue finally moved her lips away and, pretending to be calm, straightened Lin Ye's collar.
"Done. I have transferred a trace of Red Hou origin Yin energy into your spiritual platform. Ordinary evil spirits will only be deterred by this Yin energy and will not dare to approach."
Frost Star, standing to the side, was so angry she stomped her feet, her yellow duck raincoat making a rustling sound: "Sister, you are too cunning! You are clearly taking advantage of Husband! I want to transfer Yin energy to Husband too!"
"Your White Zombie poison hasn't fully dissipated yet; do you want to give Husband a high fever? Behave yourself."
Leng Yue glanced at her sister coldly, instantly recovering her queenly aura.
Just as Lin Ye was still immersed in the aftertaste of that sensation of ice and fire, the system popped up, ruining the mood.

"Replenish my ass!"
Lin Ye cursed in his mind, suppressed the evil fire in his lower abdomen, and waved his hand.
"Let's go, time to work!"
