13: Fengmao Building
Lu Yizhe heard Shang Gui's words. "The salary I was advanced was one million. It hasn't even been a year, so how has it become five million!"
Shang Gui liked Lu Yizhe like this; his eyes were full of mockery. "Didn't you read the contract? The company has the right of final interpretation, so I can make you pay back as much as I want."
Listening to his words and seeing that look in his eyes, Lu Yizhe was disgusted to death by his shamelessness.
At this moment, Shi Muzhi spoke up, "Is that so? Listen to this." After saying that, he brought his hand up from under the table, and a recording pen appeared on the desk.
Immediately after, a voice rang out in the office; it was exactly what Shang Gui had just said.
Shi Muzhi smiled, but the smile didn't reach his eyes. "With this recording, take a guess, Mr. Shang, what are the chances you can turn this around?"
Shang Gui listened to Shi Muzhi's threatening words. "Are you threatening me? Do you not know I have someone backing me! I can make you lose your job with just one word. I'd like to see which company you're from."
As he spoke, he picked up the business card. Seeing 'Jinlin Law Firm' on it, he looked up at Shi Muzhi.
"You're from Jinlin Law Firm?"
Shi Muzhi smiled. "I am indeed a lawyer from Jinlin Law Firm."
Shang Gui remembered what his uncle had said last night: provoke anyone but the lawyers from Jinlin Law Firm; they were a bunch of lunatics who wouldn't stop until they found the truth.
Someone had tried hard to get rid of them before, but for some reason, they were saved by someone.
Shang Gui immediately changed his attitude. "Mr. Shi, I'm truly sorry. I'll handle Lu Yizhe's contract termination right away!" He then made a call and had someone outside print the termination contract for Lu Yizhe.
Shi Muzhi said, "Mr. Shang, your cooperation has saved us a lot of trouble."
In the end, neither of them paid any money as they left Shangyu Entertainment.
Standing at the entrance of Shangyu Entertainment, Lu Yizhe looked at the termination contract in his hand, joy written all over his face.
Great, the nightmare here was finally over.
Shi Muzhi looked at Lu Yizhe and said, "Mr. Lu, I'll be heading back now. Remember to call me if anything comes up."
Hearing this, Lu Yizhe immediately replied, "Alright, Lawyer Shi. Thank you for your help today."
Shi Muzhi said, "It's no trouble. We'll be colleagues from now on; please look after me."
Lu Yizhe said, "Alright."
The two parted ways there. Lu Yizhe went to the hospital to tell his mother the good news.
Shi Muzhi and his assistant, Xu Xuan, returned to the law firm... the Fengmao Building.
Jiang Li opened the car door and got out. Seeing her, the security guard at the entrance stepped forward to take the car keys and quickly drove the car away.
Upon entering the lobby of the Fengmao Building, a receptionist soon approached Jiang Li to assist her.
The receptionist led Jiang Li to sit down and asked about her needs. "I wonder what kind of office space you're looking to rent, Miss? Our Fengmao Building has a hundred floors, and each floor is designed differently."
The receptionist greeted her very warmly.
Jiang Li said, "I'm just here to..."
Before she could finish, she was interrupted by someone at the door.
Because the distance wasn't far, her voice was easily drowned out.
Jiang Li was annoyed. Why was she interrupted every time? It was the same last time at the Hua Mei Clothing Store.
Looking back, she saw a man with a beer belly appearing at the entrance, wearing a gold necklace and a gold ring on his thumb.
From head to toe, he looked like a nouveau riche.
Since Jiang Li already had a receptionist, that man was attended to by someone else.
The man looked at the woman receiving him, cleared his throat, and spoke, "Tell me, how much does it cost here? I want to start a company. Give me an introduction."
Hearing this, the female receptionist complained inwardly.
Although his voice was a bit loud, he looked wealthy. She had to provide good service; she was after the commission.
But she also cursed him in her heart. For a man to dress so sleazily and still think he was handsome.
The female receptionist led him to the side.
The noisy sound ended, and Jiang Li's side continued.
"I just bought this building, and I'm here today for an inspection."
The person attending to Jiang Li was shocked to hear this.
She hadn't expected the new chairman to be such a beautiful young lady.
The news of the Fengmao Building being acquired hadn't spread yet. The reason they knew was that the former chairman had told them.
"Chairman, I'm... really sorry. I didn't... know..."
"It's fine. I don't bite. There's no need to be afraid."
Seeing the person stuttering, Jiang Li felt helpless. Was she really that scary?
The person attending to Jiang Li kept reflecting on whether she had done anything inappropriate.
It seemed not. Fortunately, she had always taken her work seriously.
At that moment, the man from earlier suddenly shouted at the female receptionist, "What? You're charging a hundred million for one floor? Why don't you just rob someone!"
The female receptionist complained internally, but on the surface, she could only answer patiently, "Our charge of a hundred million includes free renovation. We'll have designers design it according to your requirements."
The man with the beer belly heard this and said, "Charging me a hundred million for five years? How can this place be such a scam?"
"Sir, our prices have always been like this. If you think it's expensive, we have others. Would you like to take a look?" Her tone was full of disdain for him—coming here without money.
Immediately, the female receptionist took out a promotional flyer. "Look, if it's a short-term lease, you can buy your own company supplies. The cost for one year is five million, and we'll help with the moving."
The man with the beer belly had only just won a million from a lottery. He had bought a BMW, a gold necklace, and a gold ring, and had about nine hundred thousand left. He thought he couldn't just keep spending money and wanted to start a company, but he hadn't expected the Fengmao Building to be so expensive.
"I'm not buying." After saying that, he ran away in embarrassment.
Jiang Li sat not far away, watching this scene.
The man wasn't a bad person, but the female receptionist's words that followed were so unpleasant.
Looking at the man who had fled, the female receptionist put away the flyer and said, "Honestly, I thought I'd met a big client, but what happened? Just a pauper. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it. Why shout so loudly! People like him deserve to leave Shanghai. Shanghai is simply not a place where they can survive..."
Her words became more and more offensive.
Hearing this, Jiang Li's eyebrows furrowed.
The receptionist next to her heard it too but couldn't even signal a warning.
Moreover, this Xiao Zhao hadn't been here long. Relying on the fact that the manager was her uncle, she really did nothing every day and even snatched orders that others had negotiated.
Someone had tried to protest before, but the end result was that they were fired by her uncle.
They all knew this tacitly.
