49: Shen Ran and Xiao Fan divorce
In the cafe,
Jiang Li and Shen Ran sat facing each other.
"Hello, here are the two coffees you ordered."
"Thank you."
After Jiang Li and Shen Ran thanked the server, they continued their previous topic.
"Jiang Li, I mailed the divorce papers back to him that day, but he didn't agree. He came to Shanghai and has been pestering me ever since. Today is the second time."
Jiang Li listened to Shen Ran's words, not quite understanding.
Since Xiao Fan had returned to the country for his white moonlight, what was this all about now?
"Jiang Li, do you know? Xiao Fan actually told me that when he saw his white moonlight again, he realized he didn't have the same feelings for her as before, and his mind was full of me. He said he hadn't forgotten a single bit of our relationship over these past few years. But everything Xiao Fan spoke of were things I didn't even like. I never eat spicy food, but because he likes it, I would try to eat it. I never expected that my selfless giving would end up being a joke."
As Shen Ran spoke, tears blurred her vision, and the latte art on the coffee in front of her became indistinguishable.
Her heart ached. Why was he saying these things now that she had decided to give up?
It's so hard to give up on someone, but once a rift forms between two people, how can it be easily healed?
Even if they were to get back together and mend the rift, the scars would remain; it's impossible to forget.
The more she thought about it, the more a sense of grievance rushed to her heart. She hadn't done anything wrong, yet in the eyes of outsiders, it was all her fault.
Noticing Shen Ran's distress, Jiang Li didn't say much and simply handed her a tissue.
Shen Ran took it. "Thank you."
After composing herself, Shen Ran looked up again. "Jiang Li, can you help me find a lawyer? I don't want to wait any longer. Even if I have to leave with nothing, I don't want to have any connection with Xiao Fan anymore."
Jiang Li replied, "Okay, I'll help you."
She called Lin Mo. After he learned about the situation, he sent Bai Ning and her assistant Luo Xi over.
Jiang Li accompanied Shen Ran for an hour before Bai Ning arrived.
Bai Ning saw Jiang Li and said, "Boss."
"Mm. Shen Ran, this is Bai Ning," Jiang Li replied to Bai Ning before introducing her to Shen Ran.
Bai Ning and Luo Xi arrived and sat down; Bai Ning sat across from Shen Ran next to Jiang Li, while Luo Xi sat next to Shen Ran.
"Hello, my name is Bai Ning, and I am a divorce lawyer. This is my assistant, Luo Xi." Bai Ning handed her business card to Shen Ran and introduced herself.
Luo Xi added, "Hello, Miss Shen, I'm Luo Xi."
Shen Ran looked at them and said, "Hello, my name is Shen Ran. I want to divorce my husband, but he doesn't agree and even keeps coming to find me."
Bai Ning listened and said, "Alright, Miss Shen. I will help you with all your requirements. As for the assets?"
Bai Ning, "..."
The conversation between the two went very smoothly. Shen Ran's mood wasn't great today, so she went home first.
Jiang Li was also planning to head home when she spotted Xiao Fan.
Xiao Fan was at the entrance of a hotel, with a woman standing beside him.
Jiang Li didn't rush to leave; instead, she stood not far away and watched them.
She saw Xiao Fan shake the woman off.
Xiao Fan shouted, "Ning Sang, let go of me! If it weren't for you, Ran Ran wouldn't have left me!"
Ning Sang was pushed to the ground. Hearing Xiao Fan's words, she said, "Xiao Fan, is this entirely my fault? Are you not at fault too? I did ask you to come back, but if you hadn't come back, wouldn't everything have been fine!"
Hearing Ning Sang's words, Xiao Fan realized that it was true; he had brought this all upon himself. He was the one who had failed Ran Ran.
Seeing the dejected Xiao Fan, Ning Sang stepped forward and grabbed his arm. "Xiao Fan, I like you, I love you. Let's get back together, okay?"
Hearing Ning Sang's plea, Xiao Fan directly pulled his arm away. "Ning Sang, there's no chance for us. The moment you abandoned me, you lost your chance!"
Ning Sang didn't want to give up on Xiao Fan. Her father had gone bankrupt and wanted to return to their hometown to develop, but that was unacceptable to her.
The people who pursued her only cared about her money, but they couldn't save her now.
She didn't want to live a hard life, counting every penny.
She couldn't do it.
At this moment, she thought of Xiao Fan. She remembered someone saying that Xiao Fan's family was wealthy.
And she knew Xiao Fan liked her very much; he had even been depressed for a while after they split. She believed she was his white moonlight.
She had even faked a photo saying she had cancer as the reason she left him back then.
Unsurprisingly, Xiao Fan had returned, but he also found out the truth.
As a result, he left immediately. She had searched for him for a long time and only found out yesterday that he had come to Shanghai.
So she rushed over immediately.
Ning Sang didn't want to give up, but Xiao Fan had already entered the hotel and told the staff that he didn't know her and that she was the one pestering him.
Xiao Fan returned to his hotel room and lay on the bed, thinking about his time with Shen Ran.
When Ning Sang left him, he was in very low spirits. It was Shen Ran who appeared by his side and accompanied him through those difficult days.
Later, he was the one who fell in love first. He knew he wasn't a good boyfriend or a good husband.
When he was her boyfriend, he didn't even know his girlfriend didn't like spicy food.
As a husband, he even abandoned her in a foreign country during their honeymoon.
When he received Ning Sang's message back then, he wanted to tell Shen Ran, but he was afraid she would be unhappy. So he secretly came back to see for himself and find out the truth of why she had left him.
Who would have thought that while packing his things, he would actually bring Ran Ran's passport back with him.
After returning to the country, he learned the truth: Ning Sang had only broken up with him because she thought he had no money.
After staying in a hotel for one night, he opened his suitcase only to find that he had brought Ran Ran's passport back.
He immediately flew back to Moscow, but when he reached the hotel, he learned she had been kicked out the day after he left.
He searched for two days without success. He thought of the Embassy and went there, only to learn that Shen Ran had already returned to China.
After returning home, he went to their house and his mother-in-law's house, but Ran Ran hadn't returned to either. Later, he received the divorce papers.
He followed the address and found Shen Ran, but she would no longer forgive him.
Xiao Fan lay on the bed, curled up, tears streaming from the corners of his eyes as he whispered apologies, "Ran Ran, I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
Jiang Li had seen everything from outside—Xiao Fan entering the hotel and Ning Sang being driven away.
After watching, Jiang Li thought to herself: Could there be things in the middle that Shen Ran doesn't know about?
Forget it, better head back first!
...A week later,
Shen Ran successfully got divorced.
Even though Xiao Fan was unwilling.
Looking at the haggard Xiao Fan, Shen Ran felt a pang of pity, but she suppressed the thought.
'Shen Ran, have you forgotten your experience abroad? Pitying a man is the start of a lifetime of misfortune.'
After bracing herself mentally, she left.
Xiao Fan watched Shen Ran's receding figure, not noticing Bai Ning standing nearby.
"Mr. Xiao, thank you for being so cooperative this time."
Xiao Fan said, "This is what Ran Ran wanted. I'm giving it to her, and I also... I'm sorry for what I did to her!"
Bai Ning looked at the current Xiao Fan; he was completely different from the man she had seen during her first visit.
At first, Xiao Fan had resolutely refused to divorce. But after learning about Shen Ran's experience abroad and realizing that this was her current wish, he agreed. He agreed to the divorce.
Xiao Fan left with nothing, giving all the money and assets in his name to Shen Ran.
Xiao Fan whispered, "Ran Ran, I'm sorry."
