194: Two kinds of people I hate

Li Wen knew very well that with his current displayed nurturing talent, it would be difficult for him to catch the eye of the few top-tier (T0) serpent-human pet beasts among this group.

Thus, he wisely turned his attention to the other pet beasts.

One must remember, this was a massive clan with numerous secret realms!

The types of serpent-human pet beasts within were diverse, and their numbers were far from small.

Besides the top-tier existences just mentioned, there were also the remaining six great mythical serpent species!

Apophis, from Egyptian mythology. It was the twin brother of the sun god "Ra," born from the same mother, but also his sworn enemy.

Apophis single-mindedly desired to shroud the entire world in endless darkness, thereby replacing Ra and becoming the master and symbol of dark power.

Xiangliu, from Chinese mythology. As early as the time of Yu the Great's flood control efforts, people had already witnessed its might.

This fellow was not only incredibly powerful itself, but it could also spew torrential floods from its mouth, causing immense obstruction to Yu the Great's flood control work.

Ultimately, Yu the Great had to invite the Ancestral Dragon to help him, and only then did he successfully slay it.

However, some people in unofficial histories have fabricated nonsense, claiming that the Eight-Headed Serpent was actually Xiangliu who traveled east to Japan, which is simply absurd! Xiangliu's capabilities were far greater than that Eight-Headed Serpent!

Additionally, there was Jiuying, also from Chinese mythology.

This serpent species could simultaneously spew raging flames and surging floods, and it possessed a full nine heads.

It had always resided in the perilous, turbulent waters of the north, thousands of feet deep, acting recklessly and bringing disaster to the local populace.

Fortunately, the brave and fearless Hou Yi stepped forward later, and after a fierce battle, finally slew this evil serpent with his sword.

Zhulong, also known as Zhujiu Yin, was a deity who guarded Mount Zhong in ancient times.

Its body was entirely crimson, like burning flames, stretching for thousands of miles, striking awe into those who beheld it.

It possessed the power to change the heavens and earth, to reverse the primordial universe; when it opened its eyes, light instantly illuminated the world, and day arrived; and when it closed its eyes, darkness immediately enveloped the heavens and earth, and night fell.

When Zhulong exhaled, the cold was like a biting winter wind, capable of freezing rivers and causing all things to wither; when it inhaled, it was as hot as the scorching summer sun, capable of drying up mountains and rivers, and withering plants.

Such immense power made Zhulong deservedly one of the strongest divine beasts recorded in the "Classic of Mountains and Seas."

In Indian mythology, there also existed a mythical serpent species named Ananta Shesha.

It was a gigantic python that encircled the entire world, its size beyond imagination.

Whenever Ananta Shesha made a move, it would trigger disasters on earth such as landslides and tsunamis.

Especially when the apocalypse arrived, it would spew raging flames from its mouth, as if to incinerate the entire universe and earth, thereby completely destroying this world.

Níðhöggr, from Norse mythology, was also a World Serpent that coiled around the Earth.

Although Níðhöggr's specific deeds might not be as widely known compared to the others, it still held a crucial position within the Norse mythological system.

However, it was quite regrettable that neither the locations of Níðhöggr nor Zhujiu Yin had ever featured serpent-human forms similar to Jörmungandr.

In the vast sea of myths and legends, the mysterious creature of the serpent was often endowed with numerous symbolic meanings, such as wisdom, cunning, and ambition.

However, those existences recorded in history in the form of serpent-humans were vastly different from the commonly perceived serpent.

They represented a human-centric supreme philosophy, emphasizing the respect for and adherence to human self-worth and dignity.

For example, Fuxi, Nuwa, etc.

It was precisely because of this that Li Wen did not harbor too much longing for such mythical pet beasts.

However, when he faced other common serpent-human pet beasts, he always felt that something was missing.

It was in this strange and conflicted state of mind that Li Wen inadvertently glimpsed a figure at the end of the line—a serpent-human who seemed a bit awkward.

This serpent-human had a peculiar physique, with a faint, shimmering membrane covering its entire body; any spiritual energy attempting to approach it would instantly be eroded into nothingness by this mysterious membrane.

From a distance, it looked as if an invisible spiritual energy vacuum zone had formed around it, repelling all external forces.

This peculiar sight instantly ignited Li Wen's strong curiosity and intense desire for exploration. Just as he was concentrating on observing further, a commotion suddenly arose.

Someone else had successfully gained a pet beast's recognition, and this person was none other than his Senior Brother!

Upon closer inspection, the pet beast his Senior Brother obtained, while not of the absolute top-tier (T0) level,

undoubtedly, based on various panel data, was the one most compatible with Senior Brother, practically tailor-made for him.

This pet beast was extremely rare; she simultaneously possessed the three attributes of Wind, Water, and Dark!

And the talent possessed by this Senior Brother could greatly enhance the Wind attribute, while the Water and Dark attributes could significantly broaden the attack scope of Senior Brother's team.

This should have been a joyous occasion, but for some reason, Li Wen always felt a bit strange.

After a careful observation, he finally discovered the problem—that green-haired [Snake Speaker] was actually a female serpent-human!

Moreover, her gaze towards Senior Brother was full of tender affection, even to the point of "gazing lovingly"!

This situation truly made Li Wen, who had not yet received full recognition, feel a bit jealous.

Was it that he wasn't losing due to talent, but due to looks?

Li Wen: "I hate two kinds of people: one who relies on their looks to make a living, and another who doesn't let me rely on my looks to make a living."
