18: Fiery Bear

"First, attach your spiritual power to your feet, then connect that spiritual power to the Spirit Sword. Otherwise, be careful not to fall off in a moment."

After Zhang Daobai hopped onto the Spirit Sword, Lin Luoxue didn't set off immediately, but instead gave him a thoughtful reminder.

Listening to Lin Luoxue's reminder, Zhang Daobai immediately followed her instructions.

Once his spiritual power was connected to the Spirit Sword, Zhang Daobai discovered that his feet felt as if they were glued to the blade.

"Let's go!"

Seeing that Zhang Daobai was steady, Lin Luoxue immediately urged the Spirit Sword to soar into the sky, flying toward the inner regions of the Sunset Mountain Range.

Not long after Lin Luoxue and Zhang Daobai left, a group of people arrived at the site of the previous battle.

When they saw the corpses strewn across the ground and the scorched earth, everyone gasped in unison.

At this time, a few clever individuals began to sneak forward to loot the corpses, but after checking several in a row, they found absolutely nothing.

Seeing that there was no profit to be gained, the crowd soon dispersed. As for the corpses on the ground, the Yao Beasts of the Sunset Mountain Range would naturally come to dispose of them.

The closer they got to the inner region of the Sunset Mountain Range, the more lush and tall the trees in the forest below became.

Trees over a hundred meters tall could be seen everywhere, and the roars and cries of various Yao Beasts rose and fell in succession.

"It's coming!"

Just then, the previously silent Lin Luoxue suddenly spoke two words. She raised her Spirit Sword and looked toward the front-right.

Hearing this, Zhang Daobai looked in the direction she was staring, only to see a black dot rapidly expanding in the distant horizon.

No! To be more accurate, it was a golden giant eagle pouncing toward them head-on.

"It's a Rank Two Middle Stage Golden Feather Eagle. Be careful, I'll be right back."

As soon as Lin Luoxue finished speaking, she transformed into a streak of golden light and vanished from before Zhang Daobai's eyes.

Before Zhang Daobai could even react, a ten-meter-long golden Sword Qi suddenly appeared in the sky, landing on the Golden Feather Eagle in an instant.

Without a moment's pause or even a single scream, the Golden Feather Eagle, which had been charging aggressively, was instantly split in two. Its remains fell toward the forest below amidst a rain of blood.

Seeing this, Lin Luoxue's figure flashed quickly as she collected the two halves of the Golden Feather Eagle's corpse into her storage bracelet.

In order to gather enough resources to evolve her special Physique, Lin Luoxue was currently in desperate need of Spirit Stones.

Normally, a Yao Beast corpse like this wouldn't even have a chance to enter her storage space, but now she didn't want to waste anything at all.

After dealing with the Golden Feather Eagle, Lin Luoxue continued forward with Zhang Daobai. Any Yao Beasts they encountered along the way were slain by her in a single sword strike.

After some time, they arrived at a small, barren hill covered in withered vegetation, and Lin Luoxue led Zhang Daobai down to land.

"We're here."

Upon reaching the foot of the hill, Lin Luoxue pointed to a cave not far away.

"There seems to be a Yao Beast in that cave."

Zhang Daobai looked at the cave entrance warily. He could sense a powerful Aura emanating from within.

"Yes, there are two Yao Beasts. Judging by their Aura, they should be Blazing Fire Rampage Bears."

Lin Luoxue had long since detected the Auras of two Yao Beasts inside the cave. Fortunately, the Formation she had set up was still there; otherwise, she would have already rushed in to kill the bears and vent her anger.

Blazing Fire Rampage Bears!

Although Zhang Daobai rarely went out for experience, he had heard the name of this Yao Beast before.

The Blazing Fire Rampage Bear clan was one of the great overlords of the Sunset Mountain Range. They had fiery tempers and often took the initiative to attack other Yao Beasts and Cultivators.

Not only was their strength formidable, but they also possessed a talent Divine Ability similar to a berserk state, allowing them to fight above their rank.

"Of the two Blazing Fire Rampage Bears inside, one is at Rank One Perfection and the other is at Rank Two Late Stage. After I lure them out, we'll each deal with one."

After thinking for a moment, Lin Luoxue turned and made a suggestion to Zhang Daobai.

It wasn't that Lin Luoxue couldn't handle both Blazing Fire Rampage Bears at once, but rather that she intended for the weaker one to serve as combat practice for Zhang Daobai.

Zhang Daobai also understood her intention, so he gripped the qingfeng sword in his hand and nodded to Lin Luoxue.

Seeing this, Lin Luoxue condensed a ball of spiritual power laced with Golden Thunder in her hand and threw it into the cave.

Following a loud boom, two furious bear roars echoed from within the cave.

"They're coming!"

Soon, the sound of heavy objects running came from the cave, and Lin Luoxue immediately spoke to warn him.

In the next second, two giant bears—one large and one small—burst out of the cave. Their bodies were covered in fur as red and bright as a blazing fire, and the claws on their forepaws were a full half-meter long!

After reading the basic information of the Rank One Perfection Blazing Fire Rampage Bear, Zhang Daobai fixed his gaze on its left hind leg.

Sure enough, he quickly discovered a black scar on the bear's left hind leg, looking as if it had been bitten by some Yao Beast.

Once the two Blazing Fire Rampage Bears rushed out, they quickly spotted Zhang Daobai and Lin Luoxue nearby.

Seeing this, Lin Luoxue slashed out a beam of Sword Qi that landed on the other Rank Two Late Stage Blazing Fire Rampage Bear, then she quickly flew off into the distance.

"Roar!"

Having its rest disturbed at home and then being slashed as soon as it came out, that Rank Two Late Stage Blazing Fire Rampage Bear was instantly consumed by rage. Its eyes turned blood-red as it chased after Lin Luoxue.

The other Rank One Perfection Blazing Fire Rampage Bear saw this and wanted to follow to chase Lin Luoxue, but just as it moved, a bolt of Golden Thunder struck its head.

"Your opponent is me!" Zhang Daobai said, pointing his sword directly at its head.

"Roar!"

The female Blazing Fire Rampage Bear glared at Zhang Daobai. After a furious roar, it charged toward him like a massive fireball.

"Thunderous Instant Flash!"

Zhang Daobai instantly transformed into a streak of Golden Thunder and vanished from his spot.

When he reappeared, he was already behind the female Blazing Fire Rampage Bear.

"Golden Thunder Slash!"

Zhang Daobai aimed for the injured spot on the bear's left hind leg and swung his sword with all his might.

Puchi!

Because there was already an old wound and a lack of fur for protection, Zhang Daobai's strike directly tore through its flesh, carving out a hideous wound deep enough to see the bone.

Feeling the sharp pain from its hind leg, the Blazing Fire Rampage Bear didn't even think before twisting its body and swiping at Zhang Daobai with great force.

Seeing this, Zhang Daobai hurriedly pulled back to dodge, then slashed out a beam of Sword Qi aimed straight for the bear's eyes.

Due to the close proximity, the Blazing Fire Rampage Bear had no time to dodge and could only lower its head quickly to protect its vitals.

Puchi!

In the next second, a bloody gash appeared on the top of the Blazing Fire Rampage Bear's head, and the spraying blood dyed its face red.
