53: The elixir is poisonous!

A day later, in the Xuantian Mountain Range,

a demon-hunting team composed of Loose Cultivators was besieging a second-rank Late Stage Black Wind Tiger.

However, they had clearly underestimated the Black Wind Tiger's strength. Excelling in speed, it rapidly dodged their attacks while continuously swinging its claws, inflicting horrific wounds upon them.

"Xiao Liu! Give me another Healing Rejuvenation Pill!"

The brawny man at the very front, who was also the most severely injured, turned back to shout at a thin young man during a gap in the Black Wind Tiger's attacks.

"Coming, Brother Zhao! Catch!"

Hearing this, Xiao Liu quickly took out a Medicinal Pill from his Storage Pouch that he had bought at the Tang Family Pharmacy before leaving the city and threw it to the brawny man.

Because the Tang Family's Alchemy skills were excellent and they added some diluted purple maple spirit fluid to their Medicinal Pills, the medicinal effects were better than those from other shops.

Therefore, most Cultivators in Purple Maple Immortal City preferred to buy the Tang Family's Medicinal Pills.

Just today, having heard that the Tang Family Pharmacy had received a new batch of stock, they had hurried to purchase some.

After the brawny man caught the Medicinal Pill, he tossed it directly into his mouth. The pill melted upon entry, turning into a surge of pure medicinal power that merged into his body.

In the blink of an eye, the brawny man's incessantly bleeding wounds stopped, and they began to heal rapidly.

"Haha! Let's fight again!"

Having recovered part of his injuries, the brawny man brandished his large saber, preparing to charge at the Black Wind Tiger once more.

But in the next second, the brawny man, whose face had been full of Battle Intent, came to a halt. His face suddenly turned black—literally black, as if he had been poisoned.

"Puchi!"

The brawny man opened his mouth and spat out a mouthful of black blood. His legs went weak, and he nearly collapsed, only staying upright by leaning on the large saber in his hand.

"Brother Zhao!"

Seeing this, the others around him immediately changed expression, looking at the brawny man with burning anxiety.

"It's poisonous!"

The brawny man circulated his spiritual power, struggling to suppress the toxins in his body, and squeezed out two words through gritted teeth.

Poisonous?

I've never heard of the Black Wind Tiger being poisonous.

Hearing this, everyone couldn't help but look at the Black Wind Tiger in confusion. Could this Black Wind Tiger be a mutated species?

"Detoxification Pill! Quickly, give Brother Zhao an Detoxification Pill!"

The only woman in the team was the first to react, hurriedly shouting to Xiao Liu.

"An Detoxification Pill? Right! An Detoxification Pill!"

Hearing this, Xiao Liu quickly took a newly purchased Detoxification Pill from his Storage Pouch, rushed to the brawny man's side, and fed him the pill.

"Pu!"

In the next second, the brawny man, who had originally suppressed the toxins, spat out another mouthful of black blood and collapsed to the ground, his arms going limp.

"Brother Zhao! What's wrong, Brother Zhao?"

This turn of events terrified Xiao Liu, who began to cry out in panic.

Seeing this, the others no longer cared about besieging the Black Wind Tiger. They hurriedly let the tiger, which already wanted to retreat, escape and rushed to the brawny man's side.

"What happened? Didn't we tell you to give Brother Zhao an Detoxification Pill?"

"Why is Brother Zhao's face getting even blacker!?"

"Xiao Liu, what's going on!?"

Looking at Brother Zhao on the ground, the group hurriedly questioned him.

"I don't know either! Right after I fed Brother Zhao an Detoxification Pill, he collapsed."

Xiao Liu was also on the verge of tears, his voice trembling as he explained.

"I have a Heart-Clearing Lotus here that can also neutralize poison. Let's give it to Brother Zhao first."

Seeing the situation, a team member quickly took out a bluish-white lotus from their Storage Pouch.

After the brawny man was fed the Heart-Clearing Lotus, he soon spat out several mouthfuls of black blood and gradually regained consciousness.

"The Medicinal Pills are poisonous!"

Upon waking up, the brawny man's first words were to warn everyone that the Medicinal Pills were poisonous.

"The Medicinal Pills are poisonous!?"

"Xiao Liu! How dare you poison us and betray us!"

"Xiao Liu! What have you done!?"

Hearing the brawny man's words, everyone glared at Xiao Liu, tightening their grip on their weapons.

It was as if they would strike immediately if Xiao Liu didn't provide a reasonable explanation.

"I didn't do anything!"

"I really didn't know the Medicinal Pills were poisonous! How could I possibly poison you?"

"These Medicinal Pills were all bought from the Tang Family Pharmacy this morning. I didn't have any time to poison them along the way!"

Feeling himself enveloped by killing intent, Xiao Liu hurriedly explained in terror.

"It probably wasn't Xiao Liu."

At this point, the brawny man had become more lucid and spoke up to defend Xiao Liu.

Xiao Liu had once sold his ancestral home to help the brawny man Breakthrough his cultivation, exchanging it for a Medicinal Pill to assist him.

Therefore, the brawny man believed in his heart that Xiao Liu would not poison him.

The others knew about this as well, but in their haste just now, no one had remembered.

"Could it be that the Tang Family's Medicinal Pills are poisonous?"

At this moment, one person thought for a while and speculated aloud.

"That should be impossible. The Tang Family has been in the Medicinal Pill business for hundreds of years. How could such a problem occur?"

Someone nearby said, sounding somewhat skeptical.

"We'll know if we test it."

Hearing this, the woman crouching beside the brawny man immediately entered the dense forest.

Before long, the woman returned with several palm-sized first-rank Early Stage birds.

"Take out the Medicinal Pills bought today and feed a few to these birds."

The woman bound the birds with spiritual power, threw them on the ground, and ordered Xiao Liu.

Hearing this, Xiao Liu quickly took out several bottles of Medicinal Pills from his Storage Pouch, then took one pill from each bottle and fed them to the birds respectively.

In the next second, the birds that were just chirping on the ground suddenly spat out black blood, their heads lolling as their life force was severed.

Seeing this, everyone around was shocked, staring at the birds on the ground in disbelief.

The Medicinal Pills were bought in passing while leaving the city this morning. They had been together the whole way and hadn't encountered anyone else, and it was virtually impossible for Xiao Liu to have poisoned them.

If no one was at fault, then the problem definitely lay with... the Medicinal Pills!

Thinking of this, everyone turned their gaze toward the Medicinal Pills purchased from the Tang Family Pharmacy, an unbelievable suspicion forming in their hearts.

The Tang Family's Medicinal Pills are poisonous!

..."The Tang Family's Medicinal Pills are poisonous!"

Inside an Immortal Cave in Purple Maple Immortal City, a Cultivator in the middle of a Breakthrough suddenly spat out black blood and spoke while looking at the pill bottle on the ground in disbelief.

Today, he had felt a Bottleneck in his cultivation, so he went to the Tang Family Pharmacy to buy a Medicinal Pill, preparing to Breakthrough his Realm.

But as soon as he took the pill, he noticed something was wrong; he had actually been poisoned!

Since this Medicinal Pill was bought from the Tang Family Pharmacy, it had never passed through anyone else's hands, so it was impossible for anyone else to have poisoned him.

Therefore, the only explanation was that the Tang Family's Medicinal Pills were poisonous!

Fortunately, this Cultivator had previously stocked up on Detoxification Pills, so after taking one, the toxins in his body were finally temporarily suppressed.
