13: Chapter 13 You have small breasts and no brains
Her Snow-Treading Steed had accompanied her on the battlefield for years, surviving monster attacks and fierce combat, only to be slaughtered by the bastard before her. She simply could not swallow this anger.
And her monster core—she would settle this account slowly.
"Hmph, you'd better just stay put, Miss. Once I'm done with my business, I'll play with you properly."
Leng Yanshuang let out a cold huff, her gaze sweeping fiercely over Kang Dalei.
If anyone familiar with Leng Yanshuang saw this expression, they would surely know that their Miss was truly angry.
"Someone, watch this brat closely. Do not let anyone near him, and above all, do not believe a single word that comes out of his mouth."
Leng Yanshuang added another instruction, then gestured for Ruan Mi to follow as she left the dungeon.
But as luck would have it, Ruan Mi had some strange idea; as she turned to leave, she made a provocative hair-flipping gesture toward Kang Dalei. And then...
"Miss Leng, I want to report something."
"Kang Dalei, you are such a piece of scum."
"Ptooey, you deadbeat scumbag."
Locked in the cell next door, Ruan Mi wished she could bite this bastard to death. That little shit Kang Dalei actually reported her as being from the Heavenly Demon Sect.
Kang Dalei, not showing any weakness, cursed back:
"You have the nerve to talk to me? You double-crosser, you traitor, you flip-flopper."
"Tell me, how good was I to you? I helped you refine your body, helped you consolidate your cultivation realm. If it weren't for me, how could you have broken through to the third stage of Body Refining so quickly?"
"Ptooey! Believe it or not, this lady will blast you to death with a monster core cannon."
Ruan Mi had only been angry before, but hearing Kang Dalei mention the monster tide, she instantly exploded.
Pointing at Kang Dalei inside the iron gate opposite, she took off the pair of black high-top combat boots she was wearing and threw them at him.
"I really want to kill you with one boot, you bastard! If it weren't for you, would we have been hunted by the monster tide? You still have the nerve to talk? This account, this lady hasn't even settled with you yet."
Kang Dalei, who had nearly been hit by Ruan Mi's boot, huffed and puffed, pretending to cover his nose as he picked up the pair of shoes she had thrown. He said coldly:
"You really don't appreciate kindness; you're like a dog biting Lu Dongbin."
"Also, take back your stinky boots. You see? You've already knocked my brother next door unconscious with the stench."
"Screw you, Kang Dalei! This lady's feet aren't smelly; do you think everyone is like you big men, reeking of sweat?"
Ruan Mi's expression was ugly. That bastard Kang Dalei was actually making someone else smell her boots.
"I'm stating a fact. Look, it knocked him unconscious," Kang Dalei said, pointing to the cellmate he had punched unconscious, refuting her earnestly.
This series of actions by him made Ruan Mi so angry she wanted to charge out of her cell and fight him to the death.
"Kang Dalei, I'm not done with you."
"You traitor, you don't deserve it."
The two argued for nearly four or five hours, until midnight, and only stopped when they were truly too exhausted to continue.
At this moment, tired from arguing, Kang Dalei lay on a pile of straw and began to hum a tune. On the surface, he was humming a tune; in reality, he was humming a little tune.
He had been captured by Leng Yanshuang, and he had to find a way to escape. But looking at the guards at the door, Kang Dalei was speechless again.
If he had to blame someone, it was all that damn woman Ruan Mi's fault. If not for her sneak attack, how could he have been captured?
"Oh Heavens, why on earth..."
"Little brother, do you want a prison break ticket?"
Just as Kang Dalei was preparing to pray to the heavens, a middle-aged man nearby called out to him.
"Prison break ticket?" Kang Dalei frowned, but then his eyes lit up.
"What did you just say? Prison break ticket? Is it the kind I'm thinking of?"
"Guaranteed." The man pulled Kang Dalei aside and whispered:
"We have secret channels. We've helped many people in Xining Prefecture escape. Little brother, you look honest—five hundred taels, and we guarantee you'll get out."
And then, Kang Dalei was scammed. Snowflakes drifting, north wind whistling...
Learning that Kang Dalei had been scammed, Ruan Mi, in the cell opposite, laughed so hard she could barely stand up straight. She pointed at Kang Dalei, her mouth stretching almost to her ears:
"Kang Dalei, you idiot, how could you believe something like that? You're killing me with laughter."
"Hahahaha, you moron."
"Miss, do you need to clear your identity? We have special channels here; it only costs five hundred taels."
"Do you think I'm like that fool across the way?" Ruan Mi coldly swept a glance at the woman in the adjacent cell, her expression as if she wanted to kill the other person, and said coldly.
And then... Ruan Mi was also scammed.
"Yo, yo, yo, how clever. I got scammed, and you managed to get scammed too. Ruan Mi, you really make me understand what 'large chest, no brain' means—the key point is, you don't even have either."
Seeing Ruan Mi act so foolishly and get scammed right after he did, Kang Dalei was almost dying of laughter. They say once you have a precedent, you shouldn't get scammed again; he really didn't know what was inside Ruan Mi's head.
Ruan Mi couldn't be bothered with Kang Dalei right now. To dare to scam her money—this woman really didn't want to live anymore.
"Hand over the money, and this lady might spare you. If you don't know what's good for you, don't blame me for being ruthless."
"Little girl, don't be so anxious. Matters must be handled one step at a time, people must be approached one step at a time." The woman didn't seem to fear Ruan Mi at all; one could even say she completely ignored her.
At this moment, Kang Dalei didn't forget to add:
"Wrong. It's not 'matters must be handled one step at a time, people must be approached one step at a time'; it's 'people must walk one step at a time, matters must be handled one step at a time'."
"Kang Dalei, if you don't speak, nobody will mistake you for a mute." Ruan Mi had black lines on her forehead; this bastard was doing it on purpose to annoy her.
Kang Dalei huffed in dissatisfaction, "Like a dog biting Lu Dongbin."
"You..." As she spoke, the two seemed ready to start arguing again. Just then, the dungeon door opened. Leng Yanshuang walked in with an indifferent expression.
However, when she saw the flames igniting around the two of them, she couldn't help but ask curiously:
"What are those two doing?"
The guard answered helplessly: "Two idiots who got swindled out of five hundred taels by some scammers. Especially that young woman—after that big oaf got scammed, she managed to get scammed too."
Hearing this, Leng Yanshuang didn't feel well at all. Then, decisively and without a moment's hesitation, she walked out of the dungeon. Two idiots, they were truly so stupid it made her ashamed for them.
"Are there really such stupid people?" Walking through the prefecture, Leng Yanshuang sighed deeply.
She had originally intended to invite the two to ask a few questions, but now it seemed there was no need at all.
The Demon-Slaying Conference, held every three years, was approaching, but the frequency of monster attacks was increasing, which always made her feel uneasy.
"What should be done now?" Leng Yanshuang stared at the drifting clouds in the sky, her heart growing increasingly urgent.
Deep in the dungeon, Ruan Mi and Kang Dalei, as one could easily guess, were arguing again.
"Nobody wants you."
"Even if nobody wants me, I wouldn't marry you."
"You have a small chest and no brain."
"Even if I didn't, you wouldn't be able to get it."
The two were aggressive, starting to curse at the slightest disagreement. Especially Ruan Mi, who truly hated Kang Dalei, hating him so much she gnashed her teeth, hating him to the point of darkness.
If she hadn't been unable to find an opportunity, she would have definitely dealt with the bastard before her.
"Alright, I'm not arguing with you. I'm going to sleep." Kang Dalei waved his hand, signaling a truce.
