Chapter 100 - 95: Future Territory 2.0 Development (Part 2)
Chapter 100: Chapter 95: Future Territory 2.0 Development (Part 2)
"I believe neither of you would want to abandon your territories!"
The voice spoke once more.
Saki opened his mouth, but for a moment, didn’t know what to say.
"Lord Thor, cleaning them out is indeed possible, but there’s a huge risk involved, and if we dispatch a large force away from the Maine River Valley, what should we do if our territories are attacked by the Beastman Tribe?"
Baron Pape took a deep breath and couldn’t help but speak up.
His words brought a momentary silence to the others present.
"That’s no problem, we don’t need to deploy all our forces. My Eagle Territory will send a Great Knight and twenty Official Knights; you just need to deploy a third of your forces each, as for the threat to the territory."
"Our northern border is the Northern Ice Glacier; the Beastman Tribe can only approach from the west, downstream of the Maine River Valley. I will deploy the Magic Crystal Cannons downstream, and don’t forget, it is the flood season now."
Thor laughed as he spoke.
Since he intended to partake in this operation, he had already prepared thoroughly.
The Minotaur had been drowned, and the other Beastman Tribes could face the same fate.
Adding the Magic Crystal Cannon, as long as they don’t encounter a powerful Minotaur like before, they can handle it.
More importantly, Thor has a daily intelligence system, making it unnecessary to worry about his territory being attacked.
Even though the daily intelligence system doesn’t record everything, anything related to him or major events in the territory is bound to be noted, usually appearing three months in advance, giving him plenty of time to prepare.
However, this is something he couldn’t share with these people.
The daily intelligence system is his greatest secret.
"How about this, you can go back and think it over, and get back to me within ten days. I’m not forcing anyone."
Thor smiled at the group as he spoke.
Hearing Thor’s words, everyone couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Then, one by one, they stood up and took their leave.
He watched everyone leave.
Thor wasn’t too concerned.
He believed that they would agree.
The fact that they had become pioneer lords and hadn’t chosen to flee during the previous turmoil suggests they possess the necessary resolve.
As for why he invited them.
On one hand, his power is not enough; on the other, and most importantly, it’s a step to further integrate the Maine Alliance.
The threat of the Minotaur is gone, even though they formed the Maine Alliance, the lack of an external threat makes the alliance nearly insignificant.
He hadn’t painstakingly formed the alliance just for fame.
But for the upcoming Kingdom War and to bring them under his control.
Stars gradually adorned the sky.
The night passed slowly.
Each lord left the Eagle Territory with their own thoughts.
The morning sun shone down.
A new day arrived once again.
The entire Eagle Territory awoke once more under the sunrise.
Back in the castle, Thor began handling the affairs of the Eagle Territory at this time.
Firstly, dealing with the two thousand newly acquired slaves.
However, with the civil servant sent by Engel Dresrosa, the process wasn’t too cumbersome.
It was quickly completed.
In addition, there was the task of land cultivation.
A year had passed, and the time for spring plowing had arrived. With the addition of two thousand peasant slaves, new land naturally needed to be cultivated.
Previously, because of the "flooding of seven armies," much of the land that had been cultivated was destroyed, so Thor had to reorganize manpower to cultivate it again.
This time, to avoid a repetition of potential future occurrences, Thor deliberately avoided areas that might flood, using the traces of previous floods to choose locations, which made selection quite easy.
The only issue was the need for significant manpower.
However, at this moment, manpower is the least concern for the Eagle Territory.
Including the newly acquired slaves, the population, including the slave population of the Eagle Territory, exceeded eight thousand, surpassing the other two barons in the Maine River Valley, and second only to the Lawrence Territory.
It was naturally a time for development.
In the following days, while the five lords were contemplating, Thor began planning for the territory’s 2.0 development plan.
Land cultivation, territorial improvement.
Wilderness development.
Resource utilization.
These were the main goals he needed to work on next.
Especially after the division of the Maine Alliance, the territory expanded nearly tenfold, and actually utilizing it wouldn’t be an easy task.
First was the construction of a small town.
After much thought, Thor decided to establish a new castle and a small town upstream in the Maine River Valley where the dam is located.
This would help redistribute the population of the town and the dam construction has created large tracts of arable land upstream while also allowing for aquaculture in the dam, providing new financial income for the territory.
The unicorn breeding could even be relocated there since unicorns naturally inhabit that area.
It could be perfectly utilized.
The only issue is the need for considerable manpower.
However, numerous solutions could address this already.
Not only did he purchase an additional two thousand peasant slaves, but more importantly, Anna’s arrival allows for the enslavement of goblins.
Nothing is as abundant in the Northern Province as goblins, not demon beasts or other Beastmen.
Demon beasts were mostly cleared during the Beastman War decades ago.
As for Beastmen, besides during the assaults, ordinary Beastmen rarely appear in the Northern Province.
The creature most abundant in the Northern Province is goblins.
As the lowest existence in the Beastman Tribe, they did not retreat with the Beastmen from the Northern Province but stayed behind.
With their strong reproductive and survival abilities, they could quickly proliferate even as the Human Race Knight Order continued expanding.
Although not highly intelligent.
As slave labor, they are undoubtedly the best choice.
They may not be able to perform intricate tasks,
but for laborious tasks, nothing could be more suitable.
In the Beastman Tribe, they served as such.
Among the Human Race, some powerful noble lords also use goblins as expendable mining slaves.
Previously, Thor eliminated all timid goblins around the iron mine.
It wasn’t because he didn’t want to use them, but he couldn’t.
He wasn’t going to invite a high-level Mage to sign a Slave Contract for just a few thousand goblins, which would cost thousands of Gold Coins.
That would be ludicrous.
The Slave Contract, being a high-level contract, is not something an Apprentice Mage can conclude—it requires at least a level three Mage.
In the entire Northern Province, apart from Marquis Reman, it’s doubtful if another level three Mage could be found.
Thus, it wasn’t worth considering.
But this time, things were different.
Anna’s arrival and transformation made everything possible.
While Anna wasn’t a level three Mage, with the power of the Ice Elf, she was able to complete the Slave Contract.
Therefore, none of these concerns were concerns anymore.
He even planned to replace the mining slaves with goblins.
No doubt it would further unleash productivity.
So after finalizing the 2.0 territory development plan, while waiting for the responses from the lords, Thor began to prepare for action.
The opportunity was perfect to cleanse the surrounding goblins.
Though goblins posed little danger to the territory, being Beastmen, they could still pose a certain level of threat if issues arose.
Clearing them would allow for stable development.
By the third day, Pelos, under Thor’s command, with Reine, led twenty Official Knights, one hundred from the Apprentice Knight Order, and three hundred from the Eagle Cub Knight Order grandly setting out from Eagle’s Peak Castle, beginning the purge around the territory.
