Chen Jie said with a chuckle. As he looked up, he saw Su Yunjin standing at the door, having just finished some work. Her hair was slightly disheveled, and there were beads of sweat on her forehead. He raised his hand to wipe the sweat off her brow.

“Husband, you’re back.”

She spoke to her husband gently.

Chen Jie smiled and replied, “Yes.”

“Why did you buy so many things again?”

“I went to town and saw things we needed at home, so I got some.”

The three of them entered the house, starting to carry things inside. Chen Jie noticed that Su Yunjin was sweating and saw a hoe in the courtyard. He asked, “Have you been working here?”

“The courtyard is idle, so I thought I’d till it. Then, I’ll buy some vegetable seeds and plant some veggies. It’ll be enough for our family.”

Chen Jie said, “That sounds good, but don’t overwork yourself.”

Su Yunjin thought for a moment and said, “Husband, I, I want you to take me to town.”

“I want to sell some chicks and ducklings to raise them. That way, we’ll have eggs to eat in the future.”

“Alright, I’ll pick you up tomorrow to go to town.”

They went inside, and Su Yunjin poured a glass of water for Chen Jie, who really was thirsty and drank it all in one go.
