20: Chapter 20 The Fish That Escaped the Net
The torrential rain continued to ravage the island.
A mysterious woman leaned against an ancient tree, her tattered white robe clinging to her cold skin.
Deep within her violet eyes, a faint trace of confusion emerged.
"What is going on?"
She whispered to herself, her voice hoarse.
With a slight movement of her consciousness, just as she had done countless times upon waking in the past.
She attempted to issue a command to the lowest-ranking subjects that might exist in this area.
However, her consciousness was like a stone sinking into the ocean.
There was no response, no vague feedback.
She couldn't even feel the slightest tremor of connection.
Yet, she could clearly feel that her subjects were sleeping underground.
This was not normal.
She closed her eyes, focusing more intently on sensing her body.
Her body was too weak; she could barely feel the power within her at all.
Suddenly, she understood something.
"Did I wake up early?"
She murmured, her violet eyes gazing at the torrential rain pouring from the sky.
It wasn't a natural awakening; rather, this harsh weather had awakened her prematurely.
In her current weakened state, even a Level 1 person could pose a threat to her life.
It would be best to find a safe place to rest, recover her strength, and wait for tomorrow to come.
Suddenly, the mysterious woman felt two auras approaching.
She struggled to gather a sliver of her remaining power, meticulously manipulating the falling rain around her.
Causing them to distort the light more naturally, blurring her silhouette.
This was the only concealment she could manage right now, and at the lowest cost.
Qi Yun and Xia Jin followed the compass's guidance to the ancient tree.
Strangely, the compass kept pointing at the ancient tree, yet there wasn't even a shadow of a chest here.
"Qi Yun, there is nothing here."
Xia Jin scanned the surroundings; apart from the massive ancient tree, it was completely empty.
Qi Yun's brows were also tightly knitted, his heart filled with great confusion.
Taking such a huge risk to come out, with the compass pointing so clearly to this location, and this is it?
He subconsciously recalled the mix-up last time when the compass pointed to the zombies under his feet.
Could he have misunderstood it again this time?
Was this damned compass not pointing to supplies at all, but something else?
"Let's look again."
Qi Yun said in a deep voice.
Then, following the compass needle, he slowly raised his head, casting his gaze toward the ancient, menacing tree.
At first, there was only the blurred curtain of rain and distorted light.
The trajectory of the falling rain there seemed somewhat unnatural, and the light also had an extremely subtle distortion.
Qi Yun focused and looked carefully, utilizing Space Perception.
Finally, he saw through that layer of camouflage.
A woman.
A stunningly beautiful woman, wearing a tattered white robe, leaning against the tree trunk, her face pale to the extreme.
Damn it!
Even though Qi Yun was mentally tough, he couldn't help but curse in his heart at this moment.
What the hell is this?!
He braved a storm with less than 5 meters of visibility, followed the compass's guidance, and risked coming out with Xia Jin.
And the result of the "great fortune" or "high-value target" brought by the compass is just a woman?!
If he brought her back to the Tribe, what would Shu Qianxue think? How would Ke Yun view him?
What would the other girls gossip about in private?
"Look, our Clan Leader just came back from a bloody battle yesterday, his wounds haven't even healed properly, and today he risked his life to find a fairy-like woman in the storm!"
That would be a huge joke! Just thinking about that scene made Qi Yun's scalp tingle.
Almost at the same time Qi Yun locked his gaze on her, the mysterious woman's eyes flickered slightly, flashing a trace of surprise.
Her gaze landed on the ancient compass in Qi Yun's hand that was still pointing at her.
So it was this thing.
She no longer wasted her remaining power to maintain the concealment.
"Who?!"
Xia Jin's reaction was extremely fast; the moment the woman's figure was completely revealed, her blade was already aimed at her.
"A Berserker?"
Looking at the violent patterns on the blade, the mysterious woman recognized Xia Jin's class almost instantly.
Xia Jin and Qi Yun were greatly alarmed, instantly realizing that the woman before them was absolutely not simple.
Qi Yun could clearly feel a sense of indifference in the way this woman looked at them.
Like a human looking down at an anthill.
Qi Yun's thoughts raced.
The compass pointing to her meant she had some opportunity or value.
"Put away your blade, Xia Jin. Help me keep watch on the surroundings; I will talk to her alone."
Qi Yun raised his hand, signaling Xia Jin to put away her blade.
Xia Jin's brows were tightly locked; although very reluctant, she eventually put the blade away.
Qi Yun stepped forward half a step, facing the mysterious woman alone.
He took a deep breath; now that things had come to this, he should greet her first.
He couldn't just stare at each other in the rain forever.
"Hello, beautiful."
Beautiful?!
Xia Jin felt as if her ears had been ruined by the rain, and she was having auditory hallucinations.
She turned her head abruptly, staring wide-eyed at Qi Yun's profile, her blood-red eyes filled with shock and disbelief, reading "Are you crazy?!" and "What the hell are you doing at a time like this?!"
What time is it now? This woman is clearly not an ordinary person!
You're greeting her? And calling her "beautiful"? Do you think you're hitting on a freshman at the university cafeteria entrance, Qi Yun?!
The mysterious woman's deep violet eyes also widened almost imperceptibly for a moment.
Her pale face showed no change in expression, but there was a fleeting look of astonishment in her eyes.
Being called "beautiful" by an ant felt quite interesting.
"You are quite interesting."
"So, having found me, what do you intend to do?"
The mysterious woman spoke, her voice no longer as hoarse as before.
Her gaze landed calmly on Qi Yun, waiting for his decision.
Her body was too weak now, and she couldn't employ many of her methods.
Rather than wasting energy unnecessarily, it was better to see what this special ant wanted to do.
Faced with her question, Qi Yun was stumped.
That's right, what now?
He risked his life to come out, following the compass, only to find a living person in the end.
The original script was to find a chest, carry it away, go home, and everyone would be happy.
Does he have to carry a person back now?
The woman before him watched him so calmly, her violet eyes deep, waiting for his answer.
Qi Yun steadied himself; he couldn't return empty-handed.
He coughed lightly and spoke tentatively:
"Do you have any treasures? Like a protective shield or something?"
He had to have some gain.
"No."
Her answer was short and cold.
"Then... what about blueprints? Skill books??" Qi Yun wouldn't give up.
"No." Still blunt.
Qi Yun felt a bit helpless:
"Then you must have something, right?"
The mysterious woman heard this, lowered her head slightly, and her gaze fell upon herself.
Her tattered white robe was soaked through by the rain, clinging to her undulating curves.
"A white robe."
She lifted her eyelids and stated calmly.
Qi Yun's gaze fell on the white robe, which had a special texture and, although tattered, remained unstained.
Oh well, it's better than nothing.
Qi Yun glanced at Xia Jin, who was fully focused on watching the surroundings and didn't seem to have noticed the conversation here, feeling slightly relieved.
"Then... can I take it?"
Qi Yun lowered his voice, with a hint of imperceptible probing.
Once the words were out, he himself felt it sounded a bit like some kind of provocation taking advantage of her vulnerable state.
A faint glimmer flashed in the mysterious woman's deep violet eyes.
This ant actually wants her clothing that covers her body?
"As you wish."
She replied calmly, her tone devoid of ripples, her arms hanging naturally, in a posture of letting him do as he pleased.
Qi Yun's heart skipped a beat, and he slowly stepped forward.
The closer he got to the mysterious woman, the more Qi Yun could feel her extraordinary beauty.
Her features seemed truly meticulously carved by the heavens.
Her beautiful body exuded an inhuman sense of oppression.
The moment Qi Yun's hand touched the mysterious woman's body.
The unique, soft, and delicate sensation came through, and Qi Yun's brain went into autopilot mode.
"ant, you are very bold."
Feeling the hand wandering over her body, the mysterious woman was not angry.
Unexpectedly, she felt a sense of tolerance, and even a faint trace of affection, toward the ant before her.
Under the blessing of the SSS-grade clan leaders blessing, even a female boss couldn't bring herself to feel disgust.
If anyone who knew the mysterious woman saw this, their jaws would probably drop in shock.
This is the boss Disaster, after all. In the past, in front of her, humans only had two options: flee or beg for mercy, and you are actually taking advantage of her!
"Uh, sorry, I couldn't control myself."
Qi Yun said this, but his body was still pressed tightly against hers.
"What else do you want to do?"
The woman's voice remained calm, but carried a hint of curiosity.
The previous touch had aroused Qi Yun's desire to explore.
The woman before him clearly had an unusual identity.
Qi Yun met her gaze and suddenly smiled.
Then, he kissed her incredibly beautiful face.
"Mmm."
The mysterious woman stood frozen in place. After Qi Yun pulled away, she didn't get angry, but instead smiled.
"Since my birth, you are the first person who has dared to do this to me."
By now, her strength had recovered a little.
She condensed a dark purple electric light at her fingertips and traced it across Qi Yun's throat; that purple lightning emitted an aura of destruction.
With just one glance, Qi Yun could feel the terror of that purple lightning.
"However, unexpectedly, I cannot bring myself to hate you."
"I will forgive you for doing this to me."
Her tone was as condescending as ever.
Qi Yun met her bottomless violet eyes, suddenly tugged at the corner of his mouth, and said with a smile:
"Do you think I'm afraid?"
Before the words had even faded, he bowed his head abruptly and seized her cool lips again, this time more deeply than before.
Her pupils shrank, and the purple lightning almost lost control and exploded.
"Mmm!"
Li's pupils shrank, and the purple lightning at her fingertips crackled, almost losing control and exploding!
This ant actually dared to challenge her dignity again and again!
However, the violent purple lightning jumped a few times at her fingertips and slowly extinguished.
The kiss ended, and the mysterious woman looked at Qi Yun, who seemed to be reminiscing, her tone languid.
"Does it feel good?"
"It feels good."
Qi Yun answered without hesitation.
The mysterious woman looked at Qi Yun playfully, as if she had discovered a new toy.
"You really are bold, ant. What is your name?"
"Qi Yun. What about you?"
The mysterious woman's thoughts seemed to drift very far away.
"Disaster, Li."
"Next time we meet, if you can crawl to my side alive, I can play something more fun with you, Qi Yun."
With that, Li's figure turned into a puddle of rainwater and disappeared.
Until Li's figure completely dissipated in the rain, the aura Qi Yun was forcing himself to maintain instantly collapsed.
His back broke out in a cold sweat; if she had possessed even a shred of killing intent just now, he would be dead by now.
"Let's go quickly; that woman is not simple."
Qi Yun grabbed Xia Jin's wrist and said forcefully.
