61: Sending you straight to the crematorium upon landing? That's a thrilling start!

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh—!

The howling wind poured into his ears, roaring like thunder.

Chen Du was like a paratrooper without a parachute, falling rapidly through the air.

The scenery on the ground expanded rapidly in his pupils.

Pale white.

It was a Forest of Death built from the skeletal remains of prehistoric behemoths.

Ribs arched like the vault of heaven, and leg bones stood upright like giant trees.

Countless tiny finger bones hung from the branches like withered leaves.

When the cold wind blew, they made a clicking and clacking sound that made one's scalp tingle.

"Is this freaking 'dying right after landing' rhythm?!"

Chen Du struggled to adjust his posture in mid-air, trying to find a landing buffer.

"Hold it... steady!!"

Bang!

A muffled thud.

Chen Du felt as if he had slammed into granite; his internal organs felt displaced.

Good news: He didn't fall to his death.

Bad news: His balls hurt a bit.

He was currently straddling a protruding white branch.

"Cough, cough..."

Chen Du painfully coughed up some stomach acid and reached out to touch it.

It felt cold and slimy to the touch.

Looking down, how was this a branch? It was clearly the femur of a Tyrannosaurus-level behemoth!

And dozens of meters below his feet was a bottomless white abyss;

Several Skeletal Dogs with tentacles were wandering around, their eerie green eyes staring greedily at his fresh meat.

Before he could even catch his breath.

Sss—!

A dazzling red signal flare exploded not far away.

Immediately afterward.

A red container attached to a parachute was swaying as it fell toward this Bone Forest.

[Area Announcement: The first airdrop supply crate is about to land!]

[Contents: Random Cold Weapons x3, First Aid Kit x1, High-Calorie Food x5 servings!]

Chen Du's eyes lit up.

An airdrop!

"This crappy place actually has airdrops!"

Although all his equipment had been stripped away, the items obtained through the sacrifice notebook couldn't be taken by the Heavenly Dao!

"Swiftwind Wings, activate!"

He muttered in his heart.

A pair of translucent cyan wind wings unfurled from his back.

"I might not have weapons, but I have cheats!"

Chen Du kicked off hard!

Using the reaction force, he soared into the sky!

Enveloped in cyan airflow, the feeling of controlling the sky was truly exhilarating.

His vision quickly rose.

The entire landscape of the Bone Forest was laid out before him.

In the distance, the Golden City loomed in the mist, exuding an aura of death.

"First get the airdrop, then do some high-altitude reconnaissance to find those silly women."

Chen Du was busy calculating his moves.

With a flap of his wings, his body rose again, attempting to cross the layer of grayish-white miasma.

8 meters, 10 meters, 12 meters... the moment Chen Du broke past the height of the treetops.

The deathly silent purple sky suddenly snapped open like an enraged eye!

[Warning: God-Forsaken Land, mortals are forbidden from the skies!]

Boom—!!!

A bolt of purple lightning as thick as a bucket crashed down without warning!

This lightning strike was ridiculously fast and deadly.

Precise, brutal, and unreasonable.

"Holy crap..."

Chen Du only had time to utter this beautiful Chinese phrase.

Intense pain struck!

It felt like being hit head-on by a fully loaded high-speed train!

The Swiftwind Wings instantly shattered into a sky full of light specks.

Smoking all over, Chen Du fell straight down.

"Heavenly Dao... screw you..."

He wanted to flip the bird.

But his hand was numb and completely unresponsive.

This is a freaking rule-based kill!

Bang!

Crack!

Chen Du broke three rib branches in a row!

Finally, he fell into a thick pile of bone meal, kicking up a cloud of pale white dust!

"Cough, cough... cough, cough, cough..."

Chen Du rolled over and spat out a puff of black smoke.

His health bar was half empty.

If his body hadn't been strengthened multiple times by Spirit Fruits, it would have been game over right then.

"Good, very good."

Chen Du struggled to get up and wiped away some black ash.

"No-fly zone, huh? Playing with rules, are we?"

"Once I clear this, the first thing I'll do is Sacrifice your crappy Heavenly Dao and trade it for toilet paper!"

Rustle, rustle... Before he could catch his breath.

Rustling sounds came from the surrounding bone piles.

Three pairs of eerie green eyes lit up in the gaps between the bones.

They were three Skeletal Wolf Spiders the size of millstones.

They were covered in bony carapaces, with eight long legs like sharp spears.

Highly corrosive green slime dripped from their mouths, sizzling as it hit the bones.

Apparently, the thunder and the sound of the fall had startled them.

"Treating me like takeout?"

Chen Du cracked his neck.

He was empty-handed and bare-chested.

"Hiss-ga!"

The leading wolf spider let out a shriek, its eight legs springing as it pounced toward Chen Du's face!

It was incredibly fast!

"Get lost!"

Chen Du advanced instead of retreating.

Side-step, slide!

The wolf spider's sharp forelimbs grazed past the tip of his nose.

In that instant, Chen Du's right hand shot out like lightning, grabbing one of the wolf spider's hind legs.

He swung it in a wide arc!

And slammed it down hard!

This wolf spider, weighing dozens of kilograms, was used by Chen Du like a meteor hammer, smashed violently against a nearby bone tree trunk.

Its carapace shattered, and green pulp splashed everywhere like an exploding kiwi fruit.

Seeing this, the other two wolf spiders didn't back down; instead, they flanked him from the left and right.

"You guys know teamwork?"

Chen Du sneered, flicking up a sharp broken bone from the ground with his toe.

Grabbing it with one hand, he stabbed back with a reverse grip!

Pfft!

The broken bone, like a spear, pierced accurately into the open mouthparts of the wolf spider on the left!

Then it pierced through its brain!

Chilled to the core, heart soaring!

Meanwhile, the fangs of the wolf spider on the right were closing in on Chen Du's thigh.

There was no way to dodge.

Chen Du's eyes sharpened; he hadn't planned on dodging at all.

He tensed the muscles in his left arm and proactively moved it to block.

The expected tearing of flesh didn't happen.

The wolf spider's fangs felt like they were biting into a piece of tough old cowhide.

Although they pierced the skin, they were stuck fast in the muscle fibers, impossible to pull out.

The spider was dazed: Is this even human?

"Is that all the strength you have? Didn't you eat?"

Chen Du looked down, baring his white teeth in a savage grin.

His right hand gripped the wolf spider's neck.

He squeezed hard!

This unlucky spider had its head twisted off by Chen Du.

Triple kill.

It took less than a minute.

Chen Du threw the spider corpses together and frowned slightly at his still-bleeding left arm.

The wound wasn't deep, but he couldn't ignore the poison.

The skin around it was already starting to turn black and purple.

"Sacrifice!"

The familiar dark red glow surged from his palm, swallowing the three wolf spider corpses on the ground in an instant.

This was his first transaction in the God-Forsaken Land.

[Sacrificial offerings detected: Tier 1 Skeletal Wolf Spiders x3]

[Evaluation: Low-level creatures with terrible taste; only the bones have a bit of chewiness.]

[Sacrifice successful!]

[Resources obtained: Military Compressed Biscuits x2, Detox Serum x1, Bone Bracer x1.]

The red light dissipated.

In Chen Du's hands were a dusty bracer, an injection, and two packs of vacuum-sealed biscuits.

No weapons?

Bad review!

But having the serum and protective gear solved his immediate problem.

Chen Du quickly injected the serum into his left arm, and the numb burning sensation rapidly subsided.

Then he put on the Bone Bracer.

The size was just right, protecting his entire left forearm,

with a few barbs on it, which quite matched the aesthetic of this ghostly place.

Tearing open the biscuit packaging, Chen Du wolfed them down.

Dry and unpalatable, like chewing sawdust.

But as a warm current surged in his stomach, the weakness from the battle quickly faded.

Suddenly, a crisp announcement sounded from the sky.

A line of blood-red characters floated across the retinas of all survivors:

[First Blood! First Kill Announcement!]

[Member No. 03 of the Philippine Monkey Team has been killed by a Phantom-Faced Centipede!]

[Remaining players: 99/100]

His chewing paused for a moment.

Just a few minutes after landing, someone already kicked the bucket?

It seems this so-called "God-Forsaken Land" really has danger at every step! It gives beginners no time to adapt at all!

Chen Du swallowed the last bite of the compressed biscuit, his eyes full of solemnity.

With a start of this intensity, could that group of delicate ladies hold out?

"You'd better all hide well, don't you dare die..."
