4: Chapter 4: The Temptation of Extreme Battle Damage, A Swift Strike and Decapitation!
Yu Feng stepped out of the cabin door, carrying the heavy Red Fire Machete in one hand.
A bone-chilling wind, carrying the stench of rancid engine oil, slammed into him.
Chu Yu and Su Nian followed closely behind, shivering from the cold. A fine layer of goosebumps instantly appeared on their exposed fair skin.
The girls had only used rags and seatbelts to barely cover their vitals. This so-called "battle-damaged outfit" looked incredibly flimsy and ridiculous in the cold wind of the apocalypse.
Yu Feng didn't let his head get hot and charge straight for the supermarket two hundred meters away.
He lowered his center of gravity and led the four girls under the cover of waist-high weeds, first creeping toward several abandoned construction vehicles and rusted iron crates at the edge of the tarmac.
Half an hour later, the scavenging was declared a complete failure.
Aside from two pieces of rusty scrap wire and half a bottle of foul-smelling dirty water with unidentified floaties, they hadn't even found a usable iron rod. This broken plane didn't come with any "newbie gift pack."
"It's useless, stop digging."
Yu Feng threw away the scrap metal in his hand, his gaze piercing through the wild grass and fixing onto the half-collapsed "Control Tower Staff Supermarket" in the distance.
It was the only intact building for miles around and their last hope of no longer suffering from cold and hunger.
Chu Yu hid behind the tire of an old construction vehicle, peeking out to observe. Her prideful rationality quickly returned once she assessed the environment, and she tried to reclaim command of the team:
"There are only two zombies at the door, and they move very slowly. There are five of us. We should spread out and flank them. Pick up stones from the ground and charge together to smash their heads in!"
Her tone was firm, and that bossy streak of a Real Estate Heiress resurfaced.
"If you want to die, don't take us with you."
Yu Feng didn't even spare her a glance, mercilessly dousing her with cold water.
"Zombies are covered in black blood and rotting flesh; they definitely carry highly pathogenic viruses. Are we going to fight them hand-to-hand while practically naked? If their toxic nails scratch even a sliver of your skin, you can stay out here and join their ranks."
These words were like a sharp slap in the face, instantly shattering Chu Yu's naive arrogance.
Her face turned pale, and she bit her lip, falling silent.
Yu Feng turned his head and used the back of his blade to point at the corner of an abandoned concrete wall ten meters from the supermarket.
"Don't fight head-on; use the line of sight," Yu Feng calmly laid out the tactic.
"Someone needs to lure the zombies into that blind spot. I'll lie in ambush behind the wall and take them out one by one as they round the corner."
The tactical logic was clear, but the core problem remained—who would be the bait?
The two wandering grayish-blue monsters had the flesh on half their faces completely rotted away, exposing white bone, with nauseating slime dripping from their mouths.
Asking someone to charge in front of such monsters and provoke them was no different from gambling with their life.
Ding Yutong, who had originally volunteered saying she was fast, now stared at those two hideous faces and gulped involuntarily, her feet rooted to the spot.
Chu Yu shrank even further behind the tire.
"Wow, sounds exciting."
A playful whistle broke the brief stalemate as Alisa sauntered out from her hiding place.
This 175cm tall Blonde Bombshell had completely abandoned any protection for her upper body, only loosely tying a seatbelt around her hips with half a rag hanging below.
She didn't care about the biting wind, intentionally puffing out her exaggerated F-cup chest and blowing a wink at Yu Feng with her azure eyes.
"Yu, I'll take this job. But if I get bitten to death, you'd better remember these top-tier assets of mine."
Alisa joked loudly in her broken Chinese.
Before Yu Feng could respond, Alisa had already charged out of cover like a wild leopardess.
She picked up a stone half the size of a fist from the ground, weighed it twice, and swung her arm in a wide arc, hurling it fiercely at one of the zombies.
"Bang!"
The stone scored a precise headshot, bouncing off the back of the zombie's head with a heavy thud.
The zombie let out an extremely piercing, cracked roar and whipped its head around.
Its cloudy, white eyes instantly locked onto the fresh, fair, and exposed body nearby.
It opened its bloody maw and lunged forward frantically, flailing its mangled arms.
"Catch me if you can, idiot!" Alisa laughed and immediately turned to sprint toward the concrete wall where Yu Feng was lying in wait.
Yu Feng gritted his teeth.
He gripped the red painted handle of the fire machete tightly with both hands, pouring all his strength into his arm muscles, his body pressed against the rough concrete wall.
Three seconds.
Two seconds.
A gust of wind, mixing strong perfume with a primal body scent, whistled past Yu Feng.
Alisa made a beautiful sharp turn, successfully rounding into the blind spot.
Immediately after, the grayish-blue zombie, carrying a sickening stench, blindly barreled around the corner.
Its mangled head and fragile cervical vertebrae were perfectly exposed along the excellent attack path Yu Feng had anticipated.
Yu Feng's eyes widened, and the muscles in his wrists suddenly bulged.
"Die!"
A heavy, powerful slash tore through the air. The half-meter-long blade left a cold metallic afterimage in the air, slicing precisely into the gap of the zombie's cervical vertebrae with extreme brutality.
"Crack—"
The dull sound of bone shattering pierced the eardrums. The zombie's stinking head, draped in rotting flesh, was instantly severed, rolling far across the ground from the momentum.
The headless corpse's forward momentum didn't slow, and a large amount of viscous black blood sprayed from the severed neck.
Yu Feng was prepared; the moment he finished the slash, he stepped back and nimbly dodged to the left. The lethal, toxic black blood sprayed entirely onto the concrete wall, without a single drop touching him.
The headless torso slammed heavily onto the ground, twitched twice, and died completely.
The girls hiding in the back were completely stunned.
There was no cinematic dragging, no newbie panic or screaming. There was only pure violence, precise anticipation, and a ruthless, one-shot kill.
Chu Yu's face was deathly pale. Looking at the nauseating pool of black blood on the ground and then at Yu Feng holding the bloody machete, the resentment in her eyes completely transformed into deep apprehension.
She finally understood that in this apocalyptic game of extreme cold, her proud business mind was useless; the man before her was the tyrant who held the power over life and death.
At the very back of the group, Su Nian stared intently at Yu Feng's thick forearms as he held the knife.
Watching the muscle lines tightened from the exertion, her breathing became incredibly heavy. She subconsciously squeezed her legs together tightly, her slender fingers clutching the red cloth wrapped around her chest, a scalp-tingling greed and obsession surfacing in her eyes.
"Amazing..." Su Nian whispered in an almost inaudible voice, her tongue lightly licking her rosy lips.
"Nice work, Captain." Alisa leaned against the wall, panting heavily, her impressive assets still heaving. She gave Yu Feng a thumbs-up and turned to pick up another stone. "Again!"
Two minutes later, the same tactic, the same clean cut.
The second zombie's corpse crashed down, and the direct threat at the supermarket entrance was completely cleared.
Yu Feng shook the black blood off his blade, strode over the headless corpses, and walked straight to the supermarket's closed glass doors.
A heavy U-lock hung on the door, but the glass near the latch had long since been smashed, leaving a large hole.
Looking through the dirty glass, several rows of collapsed shelves lay scattered on the floor, with many cans and bottled water strewn about.
There's food!
