875: Chapter 876 Wan'an City!

Wan'an City! Territory of the Qilin Clan!

What came into view was a bizarre giant city that perfectly fused the majesty of Prehistoric Behemoths with the prosperity of intelligent beings!

As far as the eye could see, it was not the stone houses and beast dens filled with a primitive aura as one might imagine, but a cluster of buildings of different styles yet harmoniously unified:

In the distance, magnificent buildings hundreds of feet high had main frames constructed from the massive skeletons of long-extinct Prehistoric Behemoths. Strengthening and Spirit-Gathering runes were even inscribed on the thick joints! At the tops of several of the tallest towers, mountain-sized Yao Dans flickering with seven-colored light were embedded, radiating vast energy fluctuations like lighthouses.

More buildings were constructed from various giant exotic woods containing Spiritual Qi, colorful spirit vines, and even massive Ores as warm and smooth as jade. These Materials themselves emitted a faint spiritual glow, making the entire city appear radiant and colorful under the light.

Although the architectural forms were closer to human cities, the details everywhere showcased the charm of the Yao Race: lifelike statues of Divine Beasts such as Qilin, Phoenix, and Divine Hou crouched on the eaves; mysterious primitive totems were carved on the massive gates; and the street lamps standing on both sides of the streets were actually giant glowing beast horns or bone lamps burning with eternal Demonic Fire.

On the streets, the flow of people was like a woven fabric! There were handsome men and beautiful women who had completely transformed and were no different from the Human Race, though they often carried a trace of hard-to-detect Origin characteristics, such as eye color or the scaly shimmer at the tips of their hair; there were Yao Race members who retained parts of beast heads, claws, or tails; one could even see giant Yao Beasts walking in their pure original forms, albeit reduced in size.

Various strange mounts—winged scaled horses, savage bulls treading on flames, and mechanical Puppet beasts the size of cats—weaved through the crowd, yet the order was not chaotic. The air was filled with a mixture of hundreds of different types of Demonic Qi, yet it was governed and harmonized by a grand, majestic, and auspicious invisible force, clearly coming from the suppression of the Qilin Clan.

“Halt!”

Just as Yao Delong was sizing up this strange giant city, two figures carrying a cold, business-like aura blocked their path.

These were two guards clad in standard black armor, their helmets covering down to the bridge of their noses, revealing only a pair of sharp eyes. Judging from the Demonic Power fluctuations emanating from them, both were fully transformed ninth-rank Demon Marshals.

One of them reached out and said coldly, “Wan'an City teleportation array, routine inspection! Report your race, name, and purpose for coming here! Show your identity token!”

Yao Delong felt a chill in his heart. He had restrained his aura, only revealing the level of an ordinary high-rank Yao King. In a place like Wan'an City, this wasn't top-tier, but it wasn't weak either. The key was that his Demonic Power was a disguise, and he had no real identity token at all!

‘Force my way through? Or...’ Thoughts spun rapidly in his mind.

Just as Yao Delong was considering how to respond—

“Awoo~!”

Xue Li, on his shoulder, let out a clear cry carrying the unique majesty of the Heavenly Fox Clan, her small figure leaping lightly to the ground.

She raised her fluffy little head, her glazed eyes carrying a hint of innate pride. With an elegant swipe of her small front paw, a jade pendant emitting a faint nine-colored halo and carved with a mysterious Celestial Fox mark floated before the two guards!

“Do you recognize this?” Xue Li's voice carried a hint of childishness, yet it was filled with an unquestionable nobility!

Hiss—!

The moment the two black-armored guards' gazes touched that jade pendant, their pupils suddenly contracted! Their sharp eyes were instantly replaced by shock, fear, and disbelief!

“The... The Celestial Fox King Command?!” The two cried out almost in unison, their voices trembling!

The Heavenly Fox Clan!

In Wan'an City, the Qilin are supreme! But in the entire central part of the continent, the Qilin and the Celestial Fox are the two most untouchable supreme races! They represent the oldest Bloodlines, the top-tier Legacies, and the strongest power! The pure Celestial Fox Royalty aura emanating from this jade pendant could absolutely not be faked!

“So it is an honored guest of the Heavenly Fox Clan! This lowly one deserves to die! This lowly one was blind!” The two guards, who had been cold-faced just a moment ago, underwent a heaven-turning transformation in attitude. Their waists were bent nearly ninety degrees, and their tone was filled with extreme fear and flattery! They didn't even dare to look directly at Xue Li!

“Please, the two of you! Please take your time! If you have any needs, please command the City Patrol Guard at any time!” The two scrambled to clear the path, bowing and scraping with extremely low postures.

Xue Li gave a proud “Hmph,” her little tail held high. She leaped lightly back onto Yao Delong's shoulder, her fluffy little head rubbing affectionately against his neck, her large glazed eyes full of a “praise me” look of seeking credit. It was as if she were saying: ‘See, Master? I told you my identity would work!’

Watching this scene, Yao Delong felt somewhat helpless and also a bit amused. He reached out and gently rubbed Xue Li's fluffy little head, whispering, “I know, you're the most amazing.”

His gaze swept over the two guards, who were still maintaining their ninety-degree bows and hardly dared to breathe, his eyes as calm as water. Although Xue Li's identity was convenient, it was also like a bright lamp, invisibly exposing him to more gazes. He only wanted to act low-profile as quickly as possible—heal Xue Li's father's injuries, obtain the Materials for the nine aperture spirit nurturing pill, and then... leave this place of trouble.

No matter how prosperous Wan'an City was, it was ultimately the Yao Race's territory. And he, after all, was of the Human Race.

‘A place of trouble is no place to linger.’ Yao Delong thought to himself. Carrying the triumphant little fox on his shoulder, he stepped into the bizarre and prosperous streets of Wan'an City, which were overflowing with Demonic Qi.

The taut string in Yao Delong's heart, however, did not loosen. Xue Li's soft fur rubbed against his neck, bringing a touch of soothing warmth, but it could not dispel the natural vigilance belonging to the Human Race in the depths of his Soul.

He had a map of the Demon Domain in his hand, but it was too rough, only showing the general direction of Qingqiu.

“Xue Li,” Yao Delong's voice was low, “this place is still far from Qingqiu. Should we use the teleportation array directly, or travel there on foot?”

Hearing this, Xue Li immediately switched from her proud state of seeking credit, her large glazed eyes flickering with the urgency of wanting to return home.

“Master, Qingqiu and Tushan are the two supreme Holy Lands of my Heavenly Fox Clan, protected by Legacies of ancient Restrictions.” Her speaking speed was brisk, carrying a hint of the Heavenly Fox Clan's pride. “The outside teleportation arrays cannot directly connect to the core of the Holy Land. We can only first teleport to Peach Blossom Town, the closest place to Qingqiu! There is an outer outpost established by my clan there. Once we arrive, I can use a secret method to contact my clansmen to come and meet us!”

She gently patted Yao Delong's shoulder with her little paw, her tone carrying comfort and assurance: “Don't worry, Master! The Qilin Clan and my Heavenly Fox Clan have been on good terms for generations. Using the teleportation array in a Qilin Clan city to go to Peach Blossom Town, they will definitely not make things difficult for us!”

Yao Delong nodded slightly. He naturally didn't want to stay in this core region of the Demon Domain for a moment longer. The aura of a high-rank Yao King might still be low-profile in Wan'an City, but if he were to bump into some Demon Emperor strolling the streets, or be seen through by some ancient Great Yao with special sensing abilities... the consequences would be unimaginable!

“Fine, then we teleport.”
