157: The voice of evil will eventually steal souls.
Twenty-seven years ago, in a little-known, remote corner of the Douluo Continent, there was a town called Lingyin Town that was like a paradise. Surrounded by rolling green mountains and flowing green waters, it seemed as if time itself had slowed down there. The residents lived simple and peaceful lives, their faces filled with rustic smiles. However, this peace was eventually torn apart ruthlessly by fate, and the destiny of a young girl was quietly twisted in the darkness—
Nalali was born into an ordinary artisan family in Lingyin Town. Her parents were both hardworking, common folk who toiled daily for their livelihood, yet they poured all their love into Nalali. From a young age, Nalali displayed talent far beyond ordinary people, her perception of Soul Power as keen as that of a natural-born hunter. At the age of six, the Spirit Awakening ceremony became the turning point of her life; her bell Spirit quietly manifested in the world.
At the very beginning, the bell had a strange shape, its entire body as deep as ink, with mysterious and eerie patterns engraved on its surface. When the clapper inside the bell swayed gently, it would emit a crisp sound that carried a hint of chilling cold, as if it were a whisper from the Nine Serenities Hell. Initially, everyone only took this as a symbol of Nalali's unique talent, not realizing the terrifying properties hidden within this Spirit.
As Nalali grew older, her thirst for Soul Power grew like wild grass. Once, while playing in the mountains and forests outside the town, she accidentally disturbed a wounded Spirit Beast. The Spirit Beast's painful roar reached her ears, and in an instant, Nalali's dark bell Spirit actually activated on its own, out of her control. The bell emitted an eerie sound, and the Spirit Beast's agony seemed to be infinitely magnified; meanwhile, amidst those screams of pain, Nalali felt a slight increase in the Soul Power within her body.
This discovery was like opening Pandora's box. The young Nalali was deeply attracted by this method of rapidly increasing Soul Power, and the curiosity and desire for power in her heart gradually consumed her reason. From then on, Nalali began to deliberately seek out wounded Spirit Beasts, watching them let out deathbed screams under her torture to satisfy her greed for the growth of Soul Power.
However, the number of Spirit Beasts in the mountains was limited, and as time passed, Nalali's desires became increasingly difficult to satisfy. Once, she saw several children of her age playing at the edge of the town, and the evil impulse in her heart became as uncontrollable as a runaway horse. She quietly released the power of the dark bell, and the children were instantly enveloped by an invisible fear, letting out miserable cries in their pain. Nalali immersed herself in these screams, crazily absorbing Soul Power, a twisted look of satisfaction appearing on her face.
As Nalali's Soul Power increased, her behavior became even more frenzied and cruel. Children in the town began to disappear mysteriously. Whenever the night was deep and still, faint, indistinct screams would occasionally drift through the air, plunging the entire Lingyin Town into a haze of fear. Parents searched everywhere for their children but found nothing; they could never have imagined that the culprit behind all this was the once innocent and lovely Nalali.
One day, a five-year-old child in the town was playing at his doorstep when he was targeted by Nalali. Taking advantage of the family's inattention, she applied the power of the dark bell to the child. The child was instantly overwhelmed by pain, letting out heart-wrenching screams, while Nalali watched coldly from the side, her eyes full of madness and greed. The child's parents rushed over upon hearing the sound, only to see their child struggling in agony, with Nalali standing nearby as eerie as a demon.
The child's father was beyond furious and rushed forward to seize Nalali, but he was easily sent flying by the power of the dark bell. The child's mother knelt on the ground, tears streaming down her face as she begged Nalali to spare her child. Nalali remained indifferent, even applying the same power to the child's parents. It wasn't until the family breathed their last in agony that she left contentedly, leaving behind three miserable corpses.
The people of the town gradually noticed Nalali's abnormality. Slowly, a hair-raising aura began to emanate from her, and her eyes became cold and hollow, as if she had lost her Soul. Rumors began to spread that Nalali was possessed by an evil force and was an ominous person who brought disaster. At first, people just kept a respectful distance from her, but as the disappearances and deaths increased, everyone finally pointed the finger of suspicion at Nalali.
On a dark and windy night, the villagers, having found evidence, rushed into Nalali's home with torches and farm tools. They loudly denounced Nalali's crimes and demanded that she pay the price for those innocent lives. Nalali stood in the middle of her parents' corpses, looking at the angry crowd before her without a hint of fear in her heart; instead, she was filled with disdain.
The dark bell once again emitted an eerie sound, and Nalali's consciousness was gradually swallowed completely by darkness. She no longer tried to explain, allowing the power of the dark bell to drive her as she launched an attack on the villagers. Screams echoed through the temple, and blood splattered everywhere. Nalali was like a puppet controlled by a demon, ruthlessly torturing everyone. The villagers discovered in horror that their screams not only failed to make Nalali stop but instead made her even more frenzied. Under the effect of the dark bell, Nalali's Soul Power increased sharply, and her Soul was completely occupied by darkness.
When the first light of dawn fell upon the temple, everything returned to silence. The corpses of the villagers lay scattered across the temple, and Nalali stood alone in a pool of blood, gazing hollowly at the sky. She knew she could never go back; the former Lingyin Town and her former beautiful life had been destroyed by her own hands.
That day, an Evil Soul Master who called himself Musician arrived in the village after hearing the news. This Musician possessed an evil Spirit with a Pipa as a weapon. After hearing the sound emitted by Nalali's dark bell, his eyes showed surprise and greed. He found Nalali and was full of praise for her, claiming that the sound of her dark bell was the most beautiful melody in the world, encouraging her to torture and kill more people to make this "wonderful" sound even louder.
In her long-term loneliness and rejection, Nalali felt the vanity of being praised for the first time. This vanity was like a drug, making her sink completely. She began to kill even more frantically. Every time she saw a victim struggling and screaming in pain and heard the praise of that Evil Soul Master Musician, she felt a twisted sense of satisfaction. Her hands were stained with the blood of countless innocent people, and wherever her footsteps reached, there was a sea of blood.
From then on, Nalali left Lingyin Town and embarked on a journey of wandering. She was like a lonely ghost, roaming every corner of the Douluo Continent. Everywhere she went, more children became victims under her dark bell. Her reputation gradually spread; wherever she went, people's faces paled at the mention of her name, and children were so scared they didn't dare to go out.
However, the good times did not last long. One day, people from the Shrek Supervisory Group tracked down Nalali and the evil Spirit Musician. A fierce battle broke out. Although Musician's strength was not bad, he was ultimately no match for the experts of the Shrek Supervisory Group and was killed on the spot.
When Nalali saw the evil Spirit Musician fall in a pool of blood and realized that no one would ever praise the sound of her dark bell again, a surge of despair welled up in her heart. This despair was like a surging tide, completely drowning her last bit of reason. Driven by despair, Nalali's dark bell Spirit underwent further mutation, becoming a top-tier evil Spirit.
The mutated dark bell became even more eerie and terrifying, the patterns on its surface seeming to come alive, constantly wriggling and twisting. The sound emitted by the bell was no longer just a crisp ringing, but was mixed with the wailing of countless restless Souls, striking fear into the hearts of those who heard it. Relying on this mutated evil Spirit, Nalali slaughtered all the Shrek Supervisory Group Spirit Masters who had come to capture her, and after that, she began an even more frenzied slaughter.
She was no longer satisfied with killing children but targeted entire villages and towns. Wherever she went, there was a dead silence; countless families were broken, and loved ones were separated by Yin and Yang. People's fear of her reached its peak, yet they were helpless. Nalali sank deeper and deeper into this endless despair and madness, becoming a terrifying existence feared by everyone on the Douluo Continent. Her name was like a curse, making everyone who heard it shudder, and her dark journey seemed to have no end, accompanied only by more blood and screams... until one day, a thin, ugly-looking old man with green light in his eyes came before her, surrounded by huge, ghostly green skulls.
"Little sister, your Spirit is simply wonderful. Come with me, I will take you to a place where you truly belong..."
