Chapter 86: Revenge! Attack the Pursuers!

PTSH-!As the three powerful humans simultaneously attacked the ancient dire wolf’s outstretched leg, it wasn’t able to put up much resistance as it was cleanly cut off by their combined might-

Resulting in the ancient dire wolf letting out a loud roar filled with pain as it retracted what little was left of its leg before ferociously attacking the three powerful humans filled with killing intent. Making it clear that he didn’t view her as a serious threat even in his injured state.

Felling insulted by the clear disdain shown towards her by this human, Scaly decided that he was going to be her first target among the two, as she directly used her water magic to conjure up a few water spears that she sent flying towards him without a second thought. Using her water magic for the first time since her escape from the human town.

"Huh!? W-water magic!? This lizard can use magic!?"

Seeing the water spears flying towards him at a terrifying speed, the injured human who had shown disdain towards Scaly just a second earlier could not help panicking. Not having expected Scaly to know magic.

Jumping out just in the last second with a large shield in hand, the first human barely managed to block the water spears from piercing through the disdainful human.

"T-thank you..." Feeling his heart in his throat as he barely escaped death, the disdainful human gratefully looked towards his companion as he said this.

"We don’t have time for that! Get ready to fight and be careful around the water magic!"

However, his friend didn’t dare relax in the slightest as he reminded him about the fact that they were in the middle of a battle, with Scaly only being less than a dozen meters away from the two of them at this point in time.

"I understand..." Nodding his head in a far more serious manner compared to before, the formerly disdainful human quickly drew his sword in preparation to face Scaly-

And not a second too late, as he only barely managed to block her claws before she could reach him.

How unfortunate... I hoped I would be able to end this fast...

In turn, Scaly could not help letting out a somewhat disappointed sigh on her side, as she understood that she wouldn’t be able to end the battle in a short period of time any longer. Not that this stopped her from continuing to try and kill the two heavily injured humans.

Soon enough resulting in the three of them engaging in battle with Scaly having the upper hand due to her magic and the simple fact that she was less injured than the two humans.

As a result, it didn’t take long for her to breakthrough their defense and land a hit on the formerly disdainful human who was taking the forefront in facing her.

Although not enough to kill him, it significantly tilted the scale of the battle in her favor, as the two humans found it increasingly difficult to fight back without sustaining some injuries in return.

Of course, it wasn’t entirely one-sided, as Scaly also suffered quite a few injuries during the battle, but what she suffered was insignificant when compared to the two humans who were already half dead when she attacked them.

And as things continued like that, she finally managed to pass the defense of the shield wielding human. Piercing directly through on of his arms that caused him to lower his shield and open up an opportunity for her to attack his more vital points-

In the end, resulting in one of her claws piercing into his throat. Killing him on the spot, as his body slowly slumped to the ground with the scream of his companion calling out to him from behind.

Ignoring the large increase in strength following the death of the shield wielding human, Scaly instead focused her attention on the last remaining human who was still in the process of bandaging his heavily bleeding arm where his hand had once been while looking towards her filled with hatred.

Just as she was about to rush over and finish this human off, a loud roar interrupted her and forced her to turn around.

Only to see the ancient dire wolf starting to retreat from the battle under the constant pressure from the large number of humans.

Knowing very well that she wouldn’t stand any chance at escaping if the ancient dire wolf wasn’t around to keep the humans at bay for her, Scaly could only reluctantly glance back towards the hateful human before turning to escape in the direction of the forest.

Although she wanted to kill him for the increase in strength, she still understood that doing so might result in her own death... And that was not something she intended to gamble on...
