111: Chapter 111 The Male Supporting Character's Biological Mother (16)

Chapter 111: The Supporting Male Lead's Biological Mother (16) Jiang Yuchen actually looked forward to it after hearing Mother Gao's words, but children have short memories; he forgot everything as soon as he woke up.

It was cold, and he had a bit of trouble getting out of bed, so he woke up a little late today.

He still didn't want to delay his father from going to work, so he forced himself to get up.

Sigh! Jiang Yuchen sighed. He hadn't expected that even though he wasn't going to school, he would still have to wake up so early every day. Who would believe it if he told them!

He was being too diligent; he would have to claim credit and ask for a reward from his mother when he got back.

Good babies like him were few and far between.

Jiang Yuchen was still in the bathroom when he heard voices outside.

After finishing his business, Jiang Yuchen pulled up his pants and ran out with a pitter-patter of footsteps.

As soon as he came out, he found two more people in the living room. Jiang Yuchen blanked for a moment, his eyes darting around, and then he remembered—weren't these the Grandpa and Grandma who had spoken to him on the phone last night?

Jiang Yuchen tilted his head, looking at Father Gao and Mother Gao.

"Grandpa, Grandma?"

Upon hearing Jiang Yuchen's call, Mother Gao and Father Gao quickly walked over to him. Father Gao picked Jiang Yuchen up.

"Ah, darling, Grandpa and Grandma are here."

Having just woken up, Jiang Yuchen's hair was messy, and he was wearing fluffy pajamas. He was incredibly cute.

If he hadn't been worried about scaring his grandson, Father Gao would have leaned in to give him a kiss.

Mother Gao was a step slower, so she could only hold Jiang Yuchen's small hand, praising him without hesitation.

"Chenchen is so wonderful! You actually remembered Grandpa and Grandma. You're just too amazing."

Jiang Yuchen still looked dazed, not quite processing why the Grandpa and Grandma from the phone had appeared before his eyes as soon as he woke up.

Gao Jinhua looked at his parents helplessly.

"Mom, Dad, you guys came way too early. Look, he's still dazed and hasn't fully woken up yet. Let me change his clothes first; I have to go to work soon, and I'm almost running late."

Now that they had a grandson, their son had become like grass by the roadside. Mother Gao pushed Gao Jinhua aside.

"Go on, go on, get to work. You don't need to worry about anything here. We'll be leaving in a bit."

After saying that, Mother Gao looked at Jiang Yuchen affectionately.

"Chenchen darling, Grandma said yesterday I'd come to pick you up, and here I am today. How about going back with Grandma in a bit? We'll take a plane back. Has Chenchen ever been on a plane?"

Jiang Yuchen blinked, fully awake now, and remembered what was said yesterday. He wanted to go, but...

"What about Daddy? If I leave, what will Daddy do?"

Mother Gao found it incredibly amusing that such a little person was actually worrying about his father.

"Don't worry, your daddy is a big man; he can take care of himself. Come, come, Grandma will change your clothes. Grandma also bought you lots of yummy treats. We can set off after we eat."

Gao Jinhua watched his parents, who had taken an early flight and hadn't even been there for an hour, already thinking about whisking his son away. He didn't stop them.

"Alright, Chenchen, you have to be good and listen to Grandpa and Grandma when you go back with them. Once Daddy is done with work, I'll come back to be with you."

After Gao Jinhua finished speaking, he pushed out Jiang Yuchen's suitcase. He had only been there for a day, so the luggage inside hadn't really been touched; last night he had worn new clothes his father bought.

Seeing Gao Jinhua still lingering and nagging, Mother Gao quickly pushed him out the door.

"Enough, enough, go to work. Chenchen is very well-behaved; we'll take good care of the child, so you don't need to worry. We have everything at home, no need to bring anything, just as long as he comes. Go, go, get to work. We'll help you lock up in a bit."

Gao Jinhua went to work with a heart full of anxiety, constantly worried that the child would cry—crying for his daddy, crying for his mommy...

But he was wrong this time. Jiang Yuchen was perfectly at ease; he was like a mouse in a rice granary, thriving in his element.

His grandparents doted on him. Besides a toy room in the house, they had even built a slide and a swing for him in the courtyard.

The food the auntie cooked was also delicious; he could finish a whole bowl of rice every time.

Auntie Gao—oh, she was his Eldest Aunt now—his aunt and uncle also doted on him, especially his eldest cousin, who would even take him along to play.

Jiang Yuchen had a blast playing every day. At night, his grandparents didn't even need to tell him stories; after his bath, he would crawl into the covers and fall asleep quickly, the kind of sleep that lasted until dawn.

This led Father Gao and Mother Gao to keep saying that this child was just too easy to look after.

Although Jiang Yuchen was doted on every day, he still remembered to call his mother and father to tell them how he was doing and to let them know they didn't need to worry about him.

Jiang Wan had originally been worried that Gao Jinhua wouldn't be able to look after the child properly. Now that she knew the boy's grandparents had picked him up, she was much more relieved.

But she also told her son that he wasn't allowed to be spoiled or too naughty, and certainly couldn't run off on his own to cause trouble for the adults; he had to play within sight of his grandparents.

Gao Jinhua, however, didn't have such concerns. He was only worried that his son might feel scared in a strange place because his parents weren't by his side.

His parents doted on children, but they wouldn't just give in to everything; they would pamper when appropriate and discipline when necessary.

His sister's child was an example: doting was doting, and love was love, but education and discipline were still carried out when they should be.

Even with his son not by his side, Gao Jinhua still had a way to stay in touch with Jiang Wan. He had his mother take videos of his son every day and send them to him, and then he would forward them to Jiang Wan.

In the beginning, the topics between them were about their son, but later, Gao Jinhua slowly transitioned to morning, noon, and night greetings.

A 'good morning' when waking up, a reminder for Jiang Wan to remember lunch at noon, and a 'good night' in the evening. Their relationship gradually grew much closer.

Gao Jinhua knew that Jiang Wan hadn't signed with an agency yet and told her not to be in a hurry to sign.

He had a cousin who also ran an entertainment company, and he held a small stake in it. After Jiang Wan graduated, she could go directly to that company. That way, she wouldn't have to worry about things like 'hidden rules,' and there would be more opportunities.

In fact, what Gao Jinhua really wanted to say was that he could transfer his shares to Jiang Wan, making her a shareholder of the company.

But he was worried Jiang Wan wouldn't accept them, so he could only wait until their relationship was more intimate before bringing it up.

The weather grew colder, and the atmosphere of the New Year grew stronger. It was almost New Year's, and Jiang Wan had thought the production crew wouldn't take a break. To her surprise, the director said the filming progress was decent and gave them two days off to rest, with filming resuming on the second day of the Lunar New Year.

Other colleagues said the time was too short to go home, so they might as well stay in their rooms and sleep in to make up for the sleep they had lost lately!

Quite a few people felt this way, and they even made plans to gather for a New Year's Eve dinner on the eve of the Lunar New Year.

However, none of this had anything to do with Jiang Wan. She was a local anyway, only a two-hour drive away. Staying there wasn't as good as going home.

It was just that, with her son not by her side now, she would have to keep the New Year's vigil alone this year.

That was fine; one could get by alone as well.

Jiang Wan planned to cook two dishes she liked, have a small drink, and then have a nice long sleep. These two days would pass quickly.

Jiang Wan hadn't told anyone where she was, but her location was exposed when she video-called her son.

Jiang Yuchen was very familiar with his own home.

"Mommy, are you at home?"

Seeing that her son had figured it out, Jiang Wan didn't hide it.

"That's right. Mommy has two days off for now and wanted to come back for a good rest before going back to work the day after tomorrow. It's snowing at home now. Is it snowing where you are, baby?"

Speaking of this, Jiang Yuchen got very excited.

"It is, it is! It's a lot of snow. Everything is white outside. I even built a huge snowman today; Daddy helped me. I took several photos too. If only you were here, Mommy."

At this point, Jiang Yuchen pouted, his expression clearly showing he missed his mother. This was the first time he had been away from her for so long!

Jiang Wan quickly comforted him.

"Darling, Mommy misses you too. Mommy only has a few more days until work is finished. How about Mommy comes to pick you up then?"

Jiang Yuchen cheered up.

"Really? Then I'll wait for you to come pick me up, Mommy."

Knowing his mother would soon be finished with work, Jiang Yuchen's low mood vanished instantly, and he started chattering away to her again. He talked about what yummy food Grandma had prepared for him today and what he had played with, talking until his phone was almost out of battery before hanging up.

Gao Jinhua had been listening nearby. He knew that even if he invited Jiang Wan over, she wouldn't possibly come to have New Year's Eve dinner with them.

Thinking of Jiang Wan eating New Year's Eve dinner all by herself, Gao Jinhua made a decision in his heart.
