627: Enter Fufeng and learn about the Eastern Wasteland

"Talismans Peak!"

Xie Weilou surveyed the Talismans Peak before him.

Though it was called a peak, this mountain was incredibly vast.

Surrounded by dozens of smaller peaks, dense forests, lakes, and rivers, it presented an imposing sight.

The mountain was overgrown with weeds, and the steps were covered in moss, clearly indicating a long time since they had been cleaned.

"..."

Xie Weilou quickened his pace.

After a while,

a plaza appeared before him. On three sides of the plaza stood more than a dozen grand halls. These halls looked extremely ancient, some even with peeling paint.

On the plaza, four young men and women were seated together, drawing talismans.

"Ordinary people..."

Xie Weilou was momentarily stunned when he saw the four young men and women.

None of these four were cultivators; they were completely ordinary people. The talismans they drew were also common items, without the slightest hint of spiritual energy fluctuation.

"Oh! Someone's here."

One of the men happened to see Xie Weilou, and the others also turned to look at him.

Xie Weilou stepped forward and said with a faint smile, "I am a new disciple."

"A new disciple?"

The four were greatly astonished upon hearing this and quickly bowed, saying, "Greetings, Senior Brother!"

They were not actually disciples of Talismans Peak, but rather handymen hired by the Peak Lord, responsible for cleaning Talismans Peak on a daily basis.

Initially, they were very diligent, keeping Talismans Peak spotless. However, the Peak Lord later told them not to clean outside, but only to occasionally tidy up these halls.

They had been here for several years. Some people considered them disciples of Talismans Peak, but they dared not claim to be so.

The person before them was absolutely the only disciple of Talismans Peak in three hundred years!

Although Talismans Peak had declined, anyone capable of becoming a disciple of Talismans Peak was definitely a cultivator.

This time, Lingyuan Grotto-Heaven recruited disciples, and this person must have passed the assessment to get in, which was no simple feat.

Xie Weilou smiled faintly and said, "Senior Brothers and Senior Sisters, I am Xie Weilou. May I ask where the Peak Lord is?"

One of the men quickly said, "The Peak Lord is elusive; we don't know where he is. However, half a month ago, the Peak Lord gave instructions, saying..."

He gave an awkward smile and did not continue.

"Saying what?"

Xie Weilou asked.

The man said, "The Peak Lord said that if any unlucky fellow entered Talismans Peak this time, he could come and go freely here, and enter any of the halls. If he felt Talismans Peak was not suitable, he could go to other peaks at any time..."

Xie Weilou chuckled, "May I ask which hall contains the ancient texts?"

The man immediately pointed to the hall on the right: "That is the Hall of Ancient Texts; it contains countless ancient texts."

The Peak Lord also allowed them to easily enter these halls. Unfortunately, they did not have spiritual bones and could not cultivate. Otherwise, there were also some cultivation techniques in the halls that could allow one to advance by leaps and bounds.

Alas, spiritual bone was a hindrance!

Without spiritual bones, even if they guarded mountains of gold and silver, it would be useless.

"Thank you!"

Xie Weilou cupped his fist slightly. He glanced at the talismans in their hands: "The way of talismans requires spiritual energy as a guide, but nothing is absolute. Senior Brothers and Senior Sisters, if you find spiritual materials, by borrowing external spiritual energy, you can also draw spiritual talismans!"

This was also his realization after advancing to a Seventh-Grade Talisman Master. He originally thought that drawing spiritual talismans required cultivators to do so.

But later, he discovered that it was not so. If one used external forces, ordinary people could also draw spiritual talismans, it was just that the difficulty would be slightly greater.

"Drawing spiritual talismans with external force?"

The four froze for a second.

Xie Weilou smiled faintly and said, "Spiritual brushes, spiritual ink, spiritual paper, and even spiritual formations! Even if Talismans Peak has declined, it is still a peak of Lingyuan Grotto-Heaven, specializing in the way of talismans. It's impossible not to have these things. Senior Brothers and Senior Sisters, search carefully, and you will surely find something."

With that, he walked towards the Hall of Ancient Texts.

After the four reacted, a gleam flashed in their eyes. They quickly bowed to Xie Weilou: "Thank you for your guidance, Senior Brother!"

------

Inside the hall.

Xie Weilou looked around. Numerous shelves were stacked, densely packed with scrolls and ancient texts, dazzling the eyes, like a giant library.

This place was not messy and was very clean, clearly having been cleaned by the four outside.

"This is a good place," Xie Weilou thought to himself.

He found a place to sit down, then released his divine sense, frantically scanning the ancient texts in the hall... In a flash,

seven days passed.

Xie Weilou had read countless ancient texts, and his understanding of the Eastern Desolation reached a new level. Not only the Eastern Desolation, but also areas beyond the Eastern Desolation were recorded in the ancient texts.

He also understood what his Third Uncle meant by the Heavenly Desolation!

The world was vast and boundless, and the Heavenly Desolation Continent was the general name for this vast world.

The Heavenly Desolation Continent was divided into five major regions: the Eastern Desolation, Southern Desolation, Western Desolation, Northern Desolation, and Central Domain.

The Four Desolations and One Domain were incredibly vast, thus they were independently referred to as a continent. This was the origin of the Eastern Desolation Continent.

Even in the ancient texts, he saw records about the Barren Desert.

The Barren Desert was a huge desert in the southernmost part of the Southern Desolation, a vast forbidden zone that few dared to set foot in.

Let's talk about the Eastern Desolation!

The Eastern Desolation Continent was also incredibly vast. Among the Three Thousand States, there were countless ancient imperial dynasties, sects, aristocratic families, Holy Lands, great teachings, and so on.

The Eastern Desolation had some super forces that had given birth to peerless powerhouses, with ancient great experts presiding over them.

These were the Six Great Holy Lands, Four Great Imperial Clans, Three Great Ancient Teachings, and One Hall and One Imperial Dynasty. These forces were known as the super forces of the Eastern Desolation.

【The Six Great Holy Lands are the Longevity Holy Land, Pure Yang Holy Land, Myriad Sword Holy Land, Light Holy Land, Zhou Tian Holy Land, and Great Dream Pure Land.】

【The Four Great Imperial Clans are the Lin, Di, Tian, and Fu clans.】

【The Three Great Ancient Teachings are the Heaven-Severing Teaching, Heaven-Mending Teaching, and Reincarnation Teaching.】

【The One Hall and One Imperial Dynasty are the Heavenly Hall and the Eastern Desolation Imperial Dynasty.】

Beyond the Three Thousand States, there were some dark areas, belonging to unknown territories.

The dark areas had not yet been fully explored, so they were specially marked as forbidden, not to be entered. Those areas were forbidden zones.

The Eastern Desolation had nine great forbidden zones, namely:

Immortal Tomb, Eternal Forbidden Zone, Sea of Reincarnation, Dark Heavenly Abyss, Battlefield of Gods and Demons, Netherworld Waterfall, Sea of Chaos, Time Ridge, and Undying City.

These nine great forbidden zones, without exception, were extremely terrifying existences, containing eternal killing intent. Among them, the world found it difficult to give an accurate ranking, because no one had ever fully explored them.

Through the ages, every forbidden zone had witnessed major events.

Many great forces of the Eastern Desolation had attacked some forbidden zones, but they never gained anything. Instead, they suffered heavy losses and casualties.

Forbidden zones were taboos, places of great evil that made people tremble with fear. Those who attempted to spy on them ultimately came to no good end.

(PS: Regarding these forces and forbidden zones of the Eastern Desolation, I'll mention them first. It's okay if you don't remember them; they will be slowly elaborated on later.)
