831: Jade may not be valuable, but the connection you make with it is precious.

After a meal.

Xie Weilou put down his chopsticks, looked at Cui Xian, and said with a smile, "Thank you, Young Brother, for bringing me to Beiliang City, and thank you for this meal. Since we met by chance, how about I give you a small trinket?"

He casually took out a piece of jade from his sleeve and handed it to Cui Xian: "This jade isn't valuable, but keep it on you."

Cui Xian saw the precious jade Xie Weilou took out and quickly waved his hand, saying, "This is too precious, I can't accept it."

Xie Weilou put the jade into Cui Xian's hand and said with a smile, "The jade isn't valuable, but fate is!"

As he spoke, he got up and walked towards the main door.

Whoosh!

When Xie Weilou opened the door, a gust of wind and snow instantly rushed in, bone-chillingly cold.

Cui Xian quickly said, "The wind and snow are heavy in the City at night, and many inns aren't open. Brother Xie, why don't you stay with us?"

Xie Weilou walked out, gently waving his hand, "No worries!"

"..."

Cui Xian stared blankly at Xie Weilou's retreating figure.

After leaving Cui Xian's courtyard.

Xie Weilou walked alone through the icy alleyways, his hands tucked into his sleeves, muttering to himself, "This young man is quite good, but his fate is a bit lacking!"

According to the Dao's Beginning True Understanding of Daoism, and the art of physiognomy, Cui Xian, though kind, has no luck and a twisted fate, destined for a short life.

Perhaps it's not that he has no luck, but rather that someone close to him is siphoning his luck, like Cui Tao... Within Cui Tao's body, there's a kind of imperial aura. Such a person is either rich or noble, with an extraordinary background.

More importantly, a purple light emanates from her; that's no ordinary purple light, but a wisp of primordial purple qi from the vast chaos!

As the saying goes, 'Purple Qi Comes from the East'; those who possess the Primordial Purple Qi are destined for an exceptionally extraordinary fate.

However, such individuals often bring death to those closest to them.

Xie Weilou lazily walked forward... Meanwhile.

Another middle-aged man in armor arrived at Cui Xian's courtyard, carrying a pot of wine.

"Uncle Wu!"

When Cui Xian and Cui Tao saw the middle-aged man, their faces lit up with joy, and they quickly stepped forward.

Uncle Wu is a member of the Snow Dragon Iron Cavalry, incredibly powerful, and also Cui Xian's benefactor.

Years ago, when the Barbarian God Clan invaded, Cui Xian's parents died tragically, and Cui Xian himself should have perished at the hands of the Barbarian God Clan. In the end, it was Uncle Wu who saved him.

Over the years, Uncle Wu would occasionally visit Cui Xian, prepare medicinal herbs for him to temper his body, and even taught Cui Xian a set of boxing techniques, which is why Cui Xian's strength is far greater than that of ordinary people.

Uncle Wu looked at Cui Xian, a complex emotion in his eyes, but he still smiled and said, "I haven't had a drink with you in all these years. How about we have one tonight?"

Cui Xian quickly said, "If Uncle Wu wants to drink, I'll drink with him!"

Uncle Wu paused for a second, then stared at Cui Xian: "Aren't you afraid I'll harm you?"

Cui Xian said earnestly, "Cui Xian should have been a dead man; it was Uncle Wu who saved me back then. If Uncle Wu were to harm me, Cui Xian would accept it! Besides, Cui Xian believes that Uncle Wu would never harm him."

"..."

Uncle Wu looked at Cui Xian, hesitating to speak.

A few breaths later.

He said, "Go get some bowls. We'll just have a few sips. Remember to practice the boxing technique I taught you well; it might come in handy at a critical moment."

"Okay!"

Cui Xian didn't understand, but he still complied.

He brought the bowls.

Uncle Wu poured him a little wine: "Drink it!"

Cui Xian picked up the wine bowl and, without hesitation, gulped it down.

As the wine entered his stomach, he only felt a burning pain in his abdomen, followed by a wave of warmth, as if it could dispel the cold, feeling very comfortable.

Uncle Wu didn't use a bowl, but instead directly picked up the wine pot and took a big swig. He looked up at the roof, took a deep breath, and said, "Finished drinking, I should go!"

He put down the wine pot and left Cui Xian's house directly.

Cui Tao blinked her eyes, curiously watching Uncle Wu's retreating figure: "Brother, Uncle Wu seems a bit strange today."

Cui Xian said, "The Snow Dragon Iron Cavalry has to guard Beiliang City and prevent foreign enemies from invading. Uncle Wu is very busy."

"Oh, oh!"

Cui Tao didn't think much of it either.

------

Within the frozen City, heavy snow fell continuously, and the cold wind howled and roared.

There were few common people to be seen in the City; every household had its doors tightly shut. Beiliang City at night could be very dangerous, and without urgent matters, people generally wouldn't go out.

Xie Weilou took out a pot of wine from his storage ring, drinking it with a lazy expression as he walked forward. There was faintly an inn in the City that hadn't closed yet, where he could rest for a while.

Just then, on the main road ahead, a woman in a white dress appeared. She held a long sword, her face cold as she stood in front, blocking Xie Weilou's path.

Xie Weilou looked at the woman in front of him and asked with a smile, "Miss, is something the matter?"

The woman before him was exceptionally strong, faintly exuding a Guixu Peak pressure. For such a woman to appear in this remote City was quite extraordinary.

The woman's gaze fell on Xie Weilou: "My name is Chu Jianshi, and I am the Great City Lord of Beiliang City!"

Xie Weilou smiled faintly and said, "Who first saw the snow by the riverbank? In what year did the river snow first shine upon people? Your name, Miss, is quite beautiful."

Chu Jianshi shook her head: "May I know this young master's esteemed name? And what brings you to my Beiliang City?"

Xie Weilou said, "I am Xie Wei, merely passing through Beiliang City by chance. There's nothing particular."

Chu Jianshi stared at Xie Weilou: "Is it truly by chance? Tonight in Beiliang City, there are also some who 'happen' to be here!"

"Oh? It seems it will be lively."

Xie Weilou became a little interested.

Chu Jianshi looked at an inn in the distance that still had lights on: "That inn is called Tingxue, and right now, some of those who happened to come here are inside."

"Thank you for the information! I was just planning to rest there."

Xie Weilou glanced at that inn.

"..."

Chu Jianshi pondered for a moment, then made way.

Xie Weilou drank his wine and lazily walked forward.

Chu Jianshi watched Xie Weilou's retreating figure, muttering to herself, "Which power does this person come from?"

Tonight in Beiliang City is destined to be lively; several masters will appear, and their purpose is only one: for a Little Girl!

Not long after Xie Weilou left.

Uncle Wu hurried over. He bowed to Chu Jianshi: "Reporting to the Great City Lord, Cui Xian has drunk the wine."

"I know. You may withdraw."

Chu Jianshi gently waved her hand.

Uncle Wu hesitated for a moment: "This subordinate has one thing he doesn't understand. Could the City Lord please enlighten him?"

Chu Jianshi looked at Uncle Wu and said calmly, "You think it's truly inappropriate for a group of people to scheme against an orphan, a child with a lonely fate, don't you?"

Uncle Wu took a deep breath: "He is, after all, someone I pulled out of a pile of dead bodies..."

Chu Jianshi said indifferently, "That's why he has lived all these years. If not for that, he would have died long ago. After tonight, all of this should end."

"But..."

Uncle Wu wanted to say something more.

Chu Jianshi directly interrupted him: "Withdraw! Beiliang City tonight is destined to be unpeaceful. You all just need to be prepared."

"Understood!"

Uncle Wu's eyes dimmed. He bowed and turned to leave.

Chu Jianshi looked at the sword in her hand, scoffing, "Yes! A group of people, for the sake of a so-called greater good, exerting all their effort to scheme against a child, it's utterly despicable!"
