392: Chapter 392 The Grand Elder's Leisurely Afternoon Tea: Casually Crushing a Few Assassins

The massive prow of the Yun Du Immortal Ship tore through the gray, hazy Chaos, carrying an unstoppable momentum as it slammed heavily into this ancient and dilapidated Star Domain.

The sky of the Myriad Realms Battlefield presented a depressing, dark red hue.

Floating all around were broken star remains of various sizes, and the air was filled with a pungent, bloody scent and an eternal, unmelting Evil Qi. The land below was crisscrossed with gullies, and broken weapons and giant beast bones left over from the ancient era could be seen everywhere.

The arrival of the Xu Family fleet was like a giant boulder thrown into a calm lake, instantly stirring up monstrous waves.

"Land."

Xu Chen stood on the balcony and issued a brief command.

The main ship hovered steadily above a plain where Spiritual Veins intersected. Tens of thousands of Pojun Imperial Guards flew out from the various warships like a black torrent, moving in an orderly fashion.

Without needing Xu Chen to say more, the Xu Family's group of experienced Formation Masters each took their positions.

Thousands of Formation Flags crafted from divine metal were nailed into various positions on the ground, and a colorful, translucent glass light barrier rose from the ground, firmly enclosing a territory spanning thousands of miles.

A secure and impregnable Xu Family base camp took initial shape in just half an hour.

The main hall, barracks, and even a miniature herb garden specifically for cultivating Spirit Medicine were all completed one by one with the support of the Formation. The financial resources and well-trained nature of the Ancient Imperial Clan were vividly displayed at this moment.

Outside the base camp.

The dark red afternoon sunlight spilled onto the Formation's light screen. The Grand Elder did not stay in the main military tent; instead, he ordered his guards to bring over a grandmaster chair made of thousand-year-old rosewood and placed it squarely at the very front of the camp gate.

Beside the chair, a small square table was set up, holding a set of mutton-fat jade tea sets. A small red clay stove was burning high-quality silver frost charcoal, warming a pot of fragrant enlightenment tea.

The Grand Elder leaned comfortably against the back of the grandmaster chair, eyes slightly closed, rolling two smooth spirit bone walnuts in his hands.

A hundred miles ahead of the camp, a patch of eerie, black tents filled with Yin Qi was stationed.

That was the advance force of the Underworld Race.

The Myriad Realms Battlefield had just opened, and various hidden major powers were probing each other. The Xu Family creating such a commotion and entering with such high profile naturally attracted the special "attention" of their neighbors.

Several figures wrapped tightly in black robes swept across the wasteland like ghosts, stopping outside the Xu Family's camp Formation light screen.

Leading them was an Underworld Race envoy with a pale face and ghostly green pupils. This person was named You Quan, and he exuded cold fluctuations of the Great Saint Realm. He stared at the Grand Elder, who was leisurely making tea inside the barrier, a trace of imperceptible killing intent flashing in the depths of his eyes.

You Quan stepped forward, squeezed a stiff and sinister smile onto his face, and cupped his hands.

"I am You Quan, envoy of the Fourth Hall of the Underworld Race. I have long heard of the prestige of the Xu Family of the Eastern Wasteland of the Human Race. Seeing the Xu Family fleet arrive today, I have come specifically to pay a visit."

You Quan's voice sounded as if it were produced by rubbing two rusty iron plates together; it was harsh and unpleasant, carrying a chill that pierced straight into the Divine Soul.

The Grand Elder didn't even lift his eyelids. He reached out, picked up the jade teacup from the square table, and gently blew on the tea leaves floating on the surface of the water.

"A visit will not be necessary." The Grand Elder took a sip of tea in a leisurely manner and smacked his lips. "This old man is by nature fond of quiet and cannot stand the earthy, soil-like smell on you Underworld Race people. If you have anything to say, just stand outside and say it."

You Quan's face darkened, and dangerous light flickered in those ghostly green eyes.

He, a dignified Great Saint Realm envoy of the Underworld Race, was actually being looked down upon by an old human man.

He did not act out on the spot.

This time, while ostensibly a visit, he had long since released the Underworld Race's top ghost assassins in secret.

These assassins were naturally attuned to the Laws of Shadow and Death and were proficient in Void Realm stealth techniques.

In the brief moment while You Quan spoke to distract the Grand Elder, three Saint King-level ghost assassins had already silently approached the Xu Family's Formation light screen and were trying to find weak points in the Formation patterns to sneak in.

As long as they could figure out the reality of the Xu Family's camp, or cut off the heads of a few Xu Family high-level members in passing, their Underworld Race would be able to occupy an absolute advantage in the subsequent territorial struggle.

"Elder Xu is a straightforward person, so I won't beat around the bush either." You Quan pulled the corners of his mouth in a fake smile. "The cake of the Myriad Realms Battlefield is very large. Your clan is newly arrived, and if you don't understand the rules here, I fear you will easily suffer a great loss. My Underworld Race is willing to form a good relationship with the Xu Family. I wonder what your clan thinks?"

"Rules?"

The Grand Elder put the teacup back on the square table, making a crisp clinking sound.

He finally opened his eyes. Deep within those seemingly turbid old eyes, there was a shrewdness and ruthlessness that had been precipitated over countless years.

"Wherever my Xu Family goes, that is the rule." The Grand Elder rolled the spirit bone walnuts in his hands, his tone unhurried. "As for forming a good relationship, this old man thinks that is completely unnecessary. You Underworld Race people always like to do things sneakily; it's not something that can be brought into the light."

Just at the moment the Grand Elder spoke the last word.

His right hand, which was resting on the armrest of the grandmaster chair, slightly curled its index finger and tapped lightly on the wooden armrest, seemingly carelessly.

"Clack."

A faint, muffled sound.

A golden pattern that was almost imperceptible suddenly lit up on the glass light screen above the Xu Family camp. A majestic force of strangulation descended with pinpoint accuracy into the Void Realm at the edge of the Formation.

In the Void Realm that had been empty and which even You Quan thought was seamless, three clusters of thick, black blood mist exploded without warning.

Those three Saint King-level ghost assassins didn't even have time to let out a scream before they were instantly crushed into powder by the Xu Family's protective killing Formation, and even their Divine Souls were thoroughly strangled.

Pitch-black blood splashed onto the translucent Formation light screen and slowly slid down the smooth surface, a shocking sight.

The fake smile on You Quan's face froze instantly.

His pupils contracted violently as he looked at those three eye-catching bloodstains, his heart seemingly gripped tightly by an invisible hand.

Those were top assassins that the Underworld Race had spent countless resources to cultivate; even Great Saint Realm powerhouses would find it difficult to detect their movements.

This seemingly dying old man of the Xu Family in front of him hadn't even moved his body, was even chatting and laughing with him, and had just casually crushed them into ashes like this.

"Oh my, how unlucky."

The Grand Elder took out a handkerchief, wiped away the few drops of tea that had accidentally splashed onto the table, and frowned in utter disgust.

"Envoy You Quan, this old man said earlier that I cannot stand the earthy smell of you Underworld Race people. Look, you Underworld Race people can't even manage your own mosquitoes; they run into other people's doors in broad daylight. This blood has splashed everywhere, and my high-quality enlightenment tea has been tainted with some fishy smell."

The Grand Elder tossed the handkerchief onto the ground, looked up, and showed a kind smile at You Quan.

"If the envoy has nothing else, you should hurry back and patch your own mosquito nets. If any more mosquitoes fly over next time, this killing Formation of mine won't just be as simple as swatting a few mosquitoes."

This sarcasm, which scolded the locust tree to abuse the mulberry, was like a loud slap in the face, struck hard across You Quan's face.

You Quan's chest heaved violently, and the Yin Qi around his body almost condensed into ice. He stared fixedly at the Grand Elder sitting on the grandmaster chair, gritted his teeth, and forcefully swallowed the anger in his heart.

The Xu Family's foundation and the terror of this Formation completely exceeded his expectations. Acting now would be tantamount to throwing an egg against a rock.

"Elder Xu is right to teach me." You Quan almost broke his teeth to squeeze out these words. "I will definitely bring these words back to the Underworld Emperor exactly as they are. The green hills will not change, and the green water will flow forever; we shall see."

After speaking, You Quan flicked his wide black robe, took his few followers and turned into a cloud of black mist, and fled towards the Underworld Race camp without looking back, his back somewhat revealing a bit of embarrassment.

Watching the Underworld Race envoy leave in a dejected manner, the Grand Elder snorted lightly and picked up his teacup again.

"A bunch of rats that can't see the light, daring to come and show off before my Xu Family's door."

Inside the main military tent in the center of the camp.

Xu Chen leaned lazily on the wide couch, taking in everything that happened at the camp gate through his Divine Thought.

He shook his head and laughed, very satisfied with the Grand Elder's style of killing and condemning the heart.

With this old fox sitting in the base camp, those petty thieves with ulterior motives could not stir up any trouble at all.

Xu Chen stood up and stretched his muscles. The vigorous power of the Middle Stage of the Great Saint Realm surged through his limbs and bones, giving him the urge to find someone to spar with properly.

He walked to the door of the main tent and gave a few instructions to the Xu Family warriors guarding outside.

"Watch the camp well; don't let the ladies be disturbed. This Young Master is going out for a stroll to see what good things are hidden in this Myriad Realms Battlefield."

Xu Chen brushed the hem of his brocade robe, his figure silently merged into the Void Realm, and he swept towards the battlefield ruins in the distance that exuded an ancient aura.
