123: Chapter 123 The Edge of the Myriad Universes

Its scales were not dark gold, but a pure black deeper than the obsidian of Dragonstone—not the black of pigment, but a black that swallowed light, with no reflection on the surface.

Electricity flowed through the gaps between the scales, each bolt a flash of lightning sealed thousands of years ago, slowly wandering between the scales like liquid thunder.

Its eyes were a pair of rotating storms—not amber, but a silver-gray woven from thunder and space fragments.

At the center of the pupils was a tiny, eternally rotating vortex, within which torn space debris could be seen. Its wingspan exceeded fifty meters, and its dragon horns branched like forks of lightning, with the tip of each branch splitting a small piece of the void—cold purple electricity burned at the edges of the void rifts.

Its body was not solid—it was a translucent memory afterimage. Through its dragon wings, one could see the dark purple sky behind it and the ancient lightning still silently exploding within the clouds.

But its pressure was real. That kind of pressure didn't require a Dragon Might skill or bloodline suppression—simply its presence there was enough to make the air of the entire battlefield solidify. With every breath, he could feel the air being pressed down heavier.

Storm Devourer. Not an enemy. From the very first move—it had been testing me. It used White Mane's techniques to test me, not because it wanted to defeat me.

It was because it wanted to confirm—whether I could recognize that she was deceiving me. It could not speak. Its remnant will possessed only instinct. But it wanted to tell me something.

The Storm Ancestor Dragon did not speak. Its silver-gray eyes stared directly at his vertical pupils—two pairs of vertical pupils gazed at each other in the storm, one pair of dark gold inlaid with silver-gray, and one pair of pure storm.

Then, it compressed a memory sealed for thousands of years into images and forcibly poured them into his consciousness.

This was not the sky of Westeros, nor the land of Essos.

This was a void composed of broken stars and twisted space—the very edge of the Sea of Myriad Cosmos, far from the jurisdiction of the Dragon Senate and far from any plane where life existed.

Dragon glass fragments from ancient battles floated in the void, each still sealing the heat of Dragon Breath from a thousand years ago—the surfaces of the fragments shimmered with a faint blue light, like countless frozen stars.

Further away, half a broken star hung obliquely in the void. The edge of the star had been sliced neatly by some invisible force, and dark red plasma still flowed slowly from the cross-section.

The Storm Ancestor Dragon—not the current afterimage, but the younger version of itself, with scales that were deep gray rather than pure black, and horns that had only two branches, each shorter and blunter than they were now—floated alone in the center of this void.

Its front claws tightly gripped a fist-sized fragment that shimmered with chaotic light.

Inside the fragment, countless minute points of light were being generated, evolving, dying, and regenerating. The process from birth to death for each point of light took less than a heartbeat—those were miniature universes, with stars inside the fragment accelerated by billions of times.

That was a complete source fragment of the "Evolution" law, one of the last few remaining scattered in the Sea of Myriad Cosmos after the fall of the Xiling Empire. The light from the fragment shone on the scales of the young Storm Ancestor Dragon, dyeing its deep gray scales dark gold.

The void cracked open.

The rift wasn't torn open—it was pressed open by a force more fundamental than space.

Space itself curled and wrinkled at the edge of the rift, then was pressed into a two-dimensional plane like paper. A pillar of light condensed from pure Law of Causality descended from the heavens.

Wherever the pillar of light passed, space itself was pressed into a two-dimensional plane—the floating dragon glass fragments were instantly pressed into extremely thin slices at the edge of the pillar, slowly flipping in the void.

Three faceless humanoid silhouettes walked out of the light pillar. Their bodies were not matter, but silhouettes woven from countless extremely fine and dense Causality Lines—each line connected to a key fate node of some existence within the Sea of Myriad Cosmos. The colors of the lines varied—red, blue, gold, black—and each line pulsed slowly.

The The Three High Judges. Their voices had no timbre; they were the resonance of causality itself—every word was like being vibrated by countless Causality Lines simultaneously, requiring no medium to propagate through the void.

"Storm Devourer. Hand over the Evolution fragment.

This fragment violates the balance of causality—all carriers must be purged.

Hand over the fragment, and your bloodline may continue to exist. Refuse—and you shall be erased along with this fragment."

The young Storm Ancestor Dragon gripped the fragment even tighter. Its dragon claws were scorched by the chaotic light of the fragment, causing the scales to curl. Each scale was burned red, curled, fell off, and then regrew under the regeneration of storm energy, only to be burned red again—this process repeated countless times within a few breaths.

Its voice echoed in the void, hoarse and resolute, every word like muffled thunder in a storm.

"This is not a violation of causality. This is the source of causality. You erased Xiling—that wasn't enough. Now you won't even let a single fragment go. I have guarded it for six thousand years. I will not hand it over. Judge me? Come."

The The Three High Judges raised their hands simultaneously.

They had no weapons—their very existence was a weapon.

Three chains woven from pure Causality Lines condensed in the void. Each chain was as transparent as crystal, but inside flowed countless images of Causality Nodes related to the Storm Ancestor Dragon's life—those images rotated within the chains like a revolving lantern.

The first chain connected to its hatching—a dragon egg that had condensed on its own in the storms at the edge of the Sea of Myriad Cosmos, with no parents and no nest, only the gale making a bed for it. The eggshell was semi-transparent, and through it, the outline of a hatchling curled in the storm could be seen.

The second chain connected to its first tearing of space—that was when it first discovered the Evolution fragment. In the ruins of the Xiling Empire, the fragment was being besieged by a swarm of Spacetime Parasites. The parasites' forms were like liquid shadows, attempting to envelop the fragment with countless tiny tentacles.

The third chain connected to its first time sealing the Evolution fragment into a dragon egg in a Lower Plane—that dragon egg had just been laid by the crater of a volcano on Dragonstone, the shell still soft and covered in volcanic ash.

The chains tightened simultaneously. The Storm Ancestor Dragon's body was not physically torn apart—it was "disassembled" at the level of causality.

Its dragon wings began to turn into fragments of Causality Lines from the base. The wingtips became countless extremely fine threads of light, scattering in the void, with each thread still carrying the inertia of the wings' flapping.

Its dragon tail was erased section by section. Each tail vertebra emitted a very brief bone-cracking sound before disappearing—the final echo of bones being deleted from existence at the causality level.

Its dragon head let out one last long roar toward the sky—not a wail of pain, but a final warning to the entire Sea of Myriad Cosmos. The dragon's cry propagated through the void, vibrating the distant star that had been sliced in half.

"Evolution—cannot be erased! You kill me—but the Evolution fragment will find a new host! It has already planted a seed in the Lower Plane! One day—a dragon will fly up from the Lower Plane—and use Evolution—to backlash against your causality!"

The causality chains tightened the last inch.

The Storm Ancestor Dragon's body was completely erased—not turned to ashes, but wiped away cleanly, as if it had never existed in the Sea of Myriad Cosmos.

Only that Evolution fragment automatically disappeared the moment the Law of Causality erased the Storm Ancestor Dragon, self-teleporting to the bottom of the Sea of Myriad Cosmos—Westeros.

As the fragment fell into the Lower Plane, it split into countless minute points of light, scattering across the entire continent—some fell into craters, some sank into the deep sea, and some seeped into dragon glass veins.

One of the points of light fell onto a dragon egg that had just been laid and had not yet hatched.

It was the largest of the three dragon eggs Daenerys Targaryen hatched on Dragonstone.

The point of light vanished into the eggshell, flickering weakly inside the dragon egg for a moment—like a star lighting up for the duration of a single heartbeat. Then it was completely absorbed by the hatchling about to be born, the light sinking into the depths of the hatchling's bloodline, never to shine again.
