9: Chapter 9 Bloodline Burning

As Drogon took flight, the Dragon Glass Mountains began to resonate.

It was no coincidence.

The Dragon Glass energy he had absorbed was leaking out.

Every dragon scale was glowing, emitting a black light—not darkness, but a black film left behind after devouring light, like armor.

Seven sand worms raised their heads in unison.

The largest one opened its mouth.

Acid mist sprayed out.

From two hundred meters away, Drogon could smell his own scales corroding.

He did not retreat.

Because the Dragon Glass Mountains were helping him.

The mountain body exploded.

It was not an earthquake.

It was dragon bones.

Dragon bones that had been buried in the Dragon Glass for thousands of years were awakened by his bloodline, poking out from the ground one by one—bone spikes, bone walls, bone spears.

All the dragon bones assembled automatically, the skeletons piecing together in the sky into the phantom of a black dragon so massive it was impossible for it to fly, shrouding the entire mountain pass.

All seven sand worms were shrouded beneath the phantom of the dragon bones.

Drogon hovered above the mountain pass.

He did not unleash his Dragon Breath.

He opened his mouth.

But what sprayed out was not fire.

It was blood.

A single drop of blood.

The vital blood forced from his heart landed on the largest sand worm.

Then the Dragon Glass Mountains came alive.

All the Dragon Glass melted completely.

Not magma.

It was water.

Black water flowed backward into the sky, pouring into Drogon's mouth.

His bloodline value on the interface exploded into a mess of garbled code.

"Bloodline + 1000... Bloodline + 2000... Bloodline + 5000... Bloodline limit broken! Obtained passive: Heart of Dragon Glass!"

"Heart of Dragon Glass: Can convert Dragon Glass energy into any attribute. Current conversion rate: 1 Dragon Glass purity = 10 attribute points."

Drogon looked down at the seven sand worms.

His entire body was now Dragon Glass.

Scales.

Claws.

Teeth.

Even the slit pupils in his eyes had turned pure black.

"Are you blocking my path?"

He descended.

The first sand worm lunged forward.

He did not breathe fire.

Did not bite.

Just a single swipe.

The dragon claw, reinforced by Dragon Glass, struck the sand worm's head, shattering its carapace like an eggshell.

The sand worm didn't even manage to scream before its head collapsed directly.

"Ding! Killed adult Red Sand Worm! Attribute points + 60!"

The remaining six turned and fled.

The largest one ran the fastest.

It was not stupid.

It knew it couldn't win.

But could it escape?

Drogon gave chase.

His dragon wings tore through the sound barrier, creating a shockwave on the sand.

He landed on the spine of the largest sand worm, dug his claws into the gaps of its carapace, and tore it apart.

The spine snapped.

The front half of the sand worm was still crawling forward.

The back half was already paralyzed.

Drogon stepped on its head, walked into its mouth, and poured his Dragon Breath deep into its throat.

Not fire.

It was Dragon Glass.

Liquid Dragon Glass poured into the sand worm's mouthparts, solidified inside its body, and turned it into a solid block of black crystal from the inside out.

The sand worm's scream was frozen in its throat.

"The rest of you, turn into stone. Stand guard for me."

Five Dragon Glass sand worm statues crouched on both sides of the mountain pass.

Five of them.

Drogon was covered in blood.

He landed back in front of Daenerys Targaryen.

"Main quest: Accompany Daenerys Targaryen across the Red Waste. Completed."

"Rewards being distributed—Talent Tree system unlocked. Currently available talents: Dragon Flame Control, Dragon Scale Hardening, Dragon Might Domain."

Drogon stood at the mountain pass, feeling the Dragon Glass energy surging within his body.

Daenerys Targaryen's hair was blown up by the wind.

Silver.

But the roots were starting to turn black.

The silver of the Targaryen was being eroded by the energy of the Dragon Glass.

She looked down at her hands.

The roots of her nails were also turning black.

"Drogon."

"Hmm."

"What is happening to me?"

Drogon stared at her.

On the system interface, Daenerys Targaryen's bloodline awakening level jumped from 17% to 29%.

"You are changing, Mother. It is not bad."

"Changing into what?"

Drogon did not answer.

He did not want to lie to her.

He did not know either.

A woman, her bloodline activated by Dragon Glass—what would she eventually become? Even the system did not provide an answer.

Daenerys Targaryen was silent for a few seconds.

Then she tucked her scimitar back into her waist, crouched down, and picked up Drogon.

"No matter what I become," she said, "I am still your mother."

Drogon rubbed against her face.

"Hmm."
