87: My cannon is thirsty! !

The reason Ye Ze didn't choose other military tasks was also this.

He was alone, without teammates, and didn't dare to entrust his back to a complete stranger in such a battle.

Moreover, most examinees were participating in this kind of military task for the first time, and even with a Sergeant's lead, it was easy to make mistakes.

However, with instant teleportation available, examinees might get injured, but they wouldn't necessarily die in this battle.

After all, this battle was within the scope of the assessment; it was impossible for the examinees to truly be sent to their deaths.

[Hint: The Undead Army is 35 kilometers from White Emperor City, expected to arrive within approximately 3 hours!]

With 3 hours left, Ye Ze, having nothing to do, opened the military chat channel.

"Full throttle, brothers, I'm really going all out! A skeleton patrol team was completely blown up by me!"

"Tragic! I installed dozens of alchemical bombs on Clear River Farm, but the skeleton troops took a detour... The reconnaissance corps misled me!! Lost over a hundred thousand points!! Coughing up blood!"

"A group of Death Knights under the mountain are assaulting our position, shivering..."

"Gulp... Um, instant teleportation will trigger in time when I face danger, right? Any big shots who've triggered it tell me, is it useful? Won't I lose an arm or a leg...?"

"The battle is not yet won, classmates still need to work hard!!"

"..."

...

The atmosphere in the military chat channel was still quite cheerful, with no signs of examinees breaking down for now.

That's right, the examinees who could come to White Emperor City had the strength, and their combat quality was higher than average examinees.

[Military Point Ranking]

1: Xu Longxiang (Demolition Corps), 45500 points,

2: Zha Baidao (Assassin Corps), 27800 points,

3: Mei Tuan (White Dragon Mountain Camp 7), 26500 points,

...

...

Ye Ze watched the chat channel while observing the changes in the point ranking, patiently waiting for the main force of the Undead Army to arrive.

[Notification: White Dragon Mountain Camp 7 killed a Level 30 boss-level monster, Death Knight Commander, and obtained loot: Golden Covenant Sword (Tier 3 Secret Treasure)!]

[Notification: ...]

[...]

...

"So many soul gem shards! And Tier 4 Secret Treasures!!"

A series of loot seizure notifications popped up,

making Ye Ze's heart burn with excitement!

These loots would ultimately be awarded to the examinees based on their military points!

Opening the Military Point Ranking,

First Place: Mei Tuan (White Dragon Mountain Camp 7), 112500 points

Second Place: Wei Bo (White Sand Town 4th Brigade), 105800 points

Third Place: Xu Longxiang (Demolition Corps): 100500 points

...

...

The top three's points had all exceeded 100,000,

"Why hasn't the main force of the Undead Army arrived yet?"

Ye Ze finally grew a little anxious.

"Don't be afraid, classmate, we're very safe on this city wall."

An examinee next to him, wearing a priest's robe, thought Ye Ze was scared and kindly offered comfort.

He looked around Ye Ze and saw no other examinees, then asked, "Classmate, have your other teammates gone to participate in other military tasks?"

"Mm." Ye Ze nodded noncommittally.

Zhao Ming sighed, thinking to himself, "Looks like he's a poor soul abandoned by his team, just like me."

Immediately after, he raised his hand, revealing the exquisite hand cannon beneath the robe's sleeve, and spoke to Ye Ze boastfully, "Shell Brand Model 27 Enchanted Hand Cannon, 8000 damage per shot!"

"Let me tell you, no need to envy them participating in other military tasks. The multiplier is high, but those are jobs where you might lose an arm or a leg."

"For us 'city defenders', although the multiplier is low, the advantage is safety. Let me tell you, just get a hand cannon like mine, it's not expensive, you can exchange it for ten thousand points."

Zhao Ming grew more excited as he spoke, "We just shoot cannons from this city wall. As long as you shoot fast enough and accurately enough, the points we get won't necessarily be lower than theirs. Trust me, really."

Boom!! Boom!! Boom boom boom!!!

Just then,

a violent tremor came from the distant horizon...

Ye Ze strained his eyes to see, and in the distance, he saw a black tide surging towards White Emperor City, monsters densely packed, sweeping across the entire horizon!

"They're here!"

Ye Ze's eyes lit up.

"They're here!"

Zhao Ming swallowed, "Classmate, quickly go exchange for a hand cannon, there's still time."

However, the next moment—

Boom!!!

A cannon platform over two meters long and three meters high appeared out of thin air, smashing heavily onto the city wall. Fortunately, the city path was wide enough, over three meters wide, otherwise it might not have been able to accommodate this platform.

And the most striking feature was its 10-meter-long cannon barrel!!!

"Holy crap!!! What the heck!!"

Zhao Ming was stunned,

He looked at the cannon barrel extending 10 meters out from the city wall, his entire expression nearly idiotic, "Good heavens! What are you trying to do?! Your cannon barrel is going right into their faces..."

Ye Ze smiled at Zhao Ming and said, "Wrath of the Gods Rune Cannon, 200,000 points of explosive damage."

"No need to shoot accurately enough, the points will still be higher than theirs!"

After speaking, Ye Ze placed his hand on the cannon barrel.

"This isn't enough..." he muttered softly.

Ye Ze frowned,

But it wasn't a big deal.

Quickly choose options 2 and 3.

Rumble!!! Rumble!!!

The tremor grew more intense,

The Undead Army was getting closer!

Ye Ze looked towards the horizon, at the overwhelming Undead Army surging forward, and the corners of his mouth slightly lifted,

"My great cannon is already thirsty..."
