80: Retreat, and the Brewing Storm

Deep within the silent, sterile confines of the "Nine Heavens" vessel, Lin Tian embarked on a truly arduous transformation.

The spoils from the War Emperor's Mausoleum were incredibly rich, but the "Flesh and Blood Scroll" was the true crown jewel. It wasn't a Cultivation Technique to be learned, but a fundamental Law to be integrated into one's very being. He began the immensely difficult task of calibrating and aligning his Pangu Gene sequence with the perfect blueprint depicted in the Holy Mark rubbing. This was akin to completely rebuilding a skyscraper at an atomic level while it still stood.

His long-term goal was now crystal clear, etched into his mind like a Universe Law: to evolve his Physical Body beyond the SSS-grade limit, forging it into a "Body of eternal particles"—a supreme Realm where every particle of his existence was an indestructible, self-aware Universe, thereby granting him true eternal life and infinite power.

He set a deadline for his seclusion: six months. Half a year to digest his gains, consolidate his power, and take the crucial first step on this new, star-spanning Dao. After giving his final instructions to "Phantom" to guard the secret chamber and messaging his grandfather not to disturb him under any circumstances, Lin Tian closed his eyes. His consciousness sank into the deepest ocean of his genetic code, and everything in the outside world receded.

But the world did not stop for anyone.

Time rolled forward, and the aftershocks of the War Emperor's Mausoleum continued to spread globally, reshaping the map of power.

Three Months Later:

North America, within the mountaintop sanctuary of the Holy Mountain Organization, a divine oracle was proclaimed.

Their genetic Oracles, after a month-long ritualistic divination, emerged from the sanctuary with an announcement, broadcast to all believers: "The Twin Stars have risen! The Empire shall be reborn in glory!"

The "Twin Stars" referred to two individuals. One was Adam, their hidden ace, who returned from the mausoleum humbled but with a reforged spirit. The other was Kyle. His failure was a public humiliation, but the near-death experience, coupled with a glimpse of an ancient Legacy he saw in his coma, triggered a deep Awakening of the "Holy Light" Gene within him. The Holy Mountain Organization regarded this as an auspicious sign and began to pour unprecedented resources into the two brothers, preparing them for their future confrontation, a holy war to reclaim glory.

At the same time, the ancient and mysterious Qin Family, guardians of a Legacy traceable back to the Pangu Imperial Dynasty era, issued a global announcement that shocked the entire martial arts world. They would host a grand martial arts tournament to select a consort for their heir, Qin Yubing. The victor would not only win the favor of this peerless beauty but also gain the full support of the unfathomably powerful Qin Family. Invitations were extended to all young Geniuses under thirty—a clear signal that they were seeking new allies in this rapidly changing world, a world now overshadowed by Lin Tian's unique brilliance.

This news stirred up a monstrous wave among the younger generation. For countless ambitious Geniuses, it was an opportunity to ascend to greatness overnight. The tournament was immediately dubbed the "Phoenix Trial," and a storm of preparations and conspiracies began to brew.

Five Months Later:

In Jiangnan City, inside a skyscraper that pierced the clouds, Su Mucheng stood before a floor-to-ceiling window, gazing north towards the distant capital, Yanjing.

Under her management, and with the silent but immense support of the Dragon Family, the new "Phoenix Gene Group" (formerly the Su Group) had not only recovered but expanded at a terrifying pace, devouring market share and crushing competitors. She had become a true empress of the business world; her name was synonymous with ruthless efficiency and precise vision.

But at this moment, in this quiet office, her empress-like exterior quietly melted away.

With a swipe of her finger on the table, a holographic image appeared in the air. It was the final moments of the War Emperor's Mausoleum broadcast—the scene of Lin Tian bathed in golden light, standing before the kneeling War Emperor.

Her eyes, usually sharp and calculating, softened now, interwoven with awe, adoration, and a deep, longing ache. She remembered his domineering presence in the conference room, his disdain for her pride, and the unparalleled sense of security she felt when he protected her from Ye Fan's vicious attack.

He was a tyrant, a devil, and a god. He was the man who had broken her, then remade her, and now occupied every corner of her thoughts.

"It's been almost a year..." she whispered softly to the silent image, "Are you still in seclusion? The world is changing so fast... But none of them... none of them are you."

His shadow was so immense that all other men seemed like pale imitations. Her loyalty, once a transaction, had unknowingly transformed into a faith.

Six Months Later:

Crack!

The sky above the South Pacific was torn open.

It wasn't a storm, but a wound. A massive vortex, over a hundred kilometers in diameter, composed of sickly purplish-green energy, appeared out of nowhere in the upper atmosphere. It was a trans-dimensional rift, a gateway to an alien Realm that did not belong to their world.

Alarms blared across every military base, every government agency, every hidden sanctuary on the planet.

From the gaping maw of the rift, monsters began to pour out. They were manifestations of nightmares: carapaced behemoths with too many limbs, sky-darkening flying leviathans, and swarms of razor-winged hunters acting with a terrifying hive mind.

The multinational joint fleet stationed in the area—a powerful force of battleships and aircraft carriers—reacted immediately. Missiles streaked across the sky, electromagnetic shells ripped through the air, and squadrons of fighter jets met the alien swarm.

The battle ended in minutes.

The creatures from the rift displayed terrifying resistance to conventional weapons and a completely alien savagery. A leviathan, even after being pierced by a dozen anti-ship missiles, regenerated its wounds instantly and retaliated with a corrosive energy beam, cutting an aircraft carrier in half. The swarm overwhelmed the fighter jets, their claws tearing through advanced alloys as if they were paper.

The entire joint fleet was annihilated. The ocean was burning.

Emergency broadcasts cut into every channel globally. News anchors, pale-faced, reported in terror on the unfolding catastrophe.

The Rift War had begun.

It was a sudden, brutal, and overwhelming invasion that threw all of the world's carefully laid plans into chaos. The Holy Mountain's oracle, the Qin Family's tournament, the ambitions of countless individuals—all seemed so small and insignificant now, as all of humanity faced an existential threat.

The storm had arrived. And the self-proclaimed king of this world remained behind closed doors.
