198: Miserable World...

...

On the way back from the Dungeon Research Center.

Lin Ye was once again lost in thought, while Dayan Hao, beside him, focused on driving, not daring to disturb Lin Ye.

Actually, back in the conference room, Lin Ye ultimately didn’t say many of the things he wanted to.

Because there was no point in saying them.

Given the current understanding of the Great Xia’s high-level officials, saying too much would only confuse them.

Ultimately, Lin Ye never intended to rely on the Settlement’s power to deal with those few troublesome Settlements.

For something like this, he alone was enough!

The matter started because of him, so he naturally had to resolve it personally.

He already needed to harvest a large number of points on his path to advancing to LV5, and harvesting points meant eliminating lives on Azure Star.

Initially, Lin Ye would feel a little bit of reluctance, but now, he felt relieved instead.

With so many people seeking death, he had to fulfill their wishes!

Lin Ye had originally planned to introduce the Great Wall Watch dungeon after the South Heaven Gate Plan, Penglai Plan, Shanhaijing Plan, and Houyi Plan were all completed.

Now it seems some people can’t wait.

Then he would release a test version of Great Wall Watch first!

For things like the South Heaven Gate in the future war system, Lin Ye could slowly create them in the backend.

The initial launch of the dungeon didn't even require things of that level; using the Great Wall Watch under the modern war system to crush these Azure Star natives!

That was enough!

-------------------------------------

“Xiao Bai, don’t go back to my residence yet.”

“I need to go see Director Ding.”

Lin Ye directly told Dayan Hao to change direction, not returning to his Cliff Villa immediately, but instead heading to the Great Xia Forest Sanatorium.

As Dayan Hao had mentioned earlier, Ding Chang might not have much time left.

Ding Chang, like Long Yuan, had shown kindness to Lin Ye.

Without Ding Chang’s trust and support during the Battle of the Imperial Sea, Lin Ye’s fate might have been completely different.

Actually, sometimes, Lin Ye would also wonder if he could be like Ding Chang.

Could he, when conquering a dungeon, hand over the initiative to an LV0 kid, even if that child was his own clansman?

The answer was no.

Lin Ye wasn't that kind, nor did he have such a big heart.

Because doing so could very likely bring him incalculable losses.

It was very possible that he could lose his life because of it.

In a world so focused on points, concepts like morality and kindness are truly difficult to fathom, so after coming to this world, Lin Ye’s motto has been only one: be cautious everywhere!

The more he thought this way, the more Lin Ye felt that having someone like Ding Chang in such a cruel world was a rare and valuable thing.

The two quickly arrived at the sanatorium, outside the intensive care unit.

At this moment, Ding Chang had temporarily escaped life-threatening danger, but he was still in a coma.

Looking at Ding Chang through the glass window, this old man was much thinner than the last time Lin Ye saw him.

“Xiao Bai, what can I do for Director Ding?”

“If points are needed, I can pay for Director Ding…”

Dayan Hao’s lips trembled, but he ultimately shook his head.

“It’s useless, Mr. Lin.”

“Points are not the issue. Director Ding is a meritorious figure of Great Xia; the Great Xia Settlement will pay for all his medical expenses. It’s just that with Azure Star’s current technological level… we really can’t save Director Ding.”

“Whatever medical technology support is needed, I can tell the doctors here. I’ve also researched some medical knowledge in the dungeon…” Lin Ye continued.

But halfway through, Lin Ye himself denied his own words.

He did know some medical knowledge from later generations, but it was only superficial.

Moreover, with the current technological level of Azure Star, it was simply impossible to implement these medical technologies.

Thinking of this, Lin Ye could only let out a long sigh.

What were the people of this world busy earning points for every day?

Points couldn’t control birth, aging, sickness, and death. In a world where the standard of living was extremely backward, many diseases were incurable.

Under the Sky Curtain’s rule, most people were actually just puppets, operating daily on a set path, just to survive until tomorrow.

And those who had a large number of points, thinking they could enjoy life, were actually just amusing themselves.

Frogs in a well, unable to see the wider world.

...

The two fell silent simultaneously, and Dayan Hao also became somewhat emotional.

“Mr. Lin, actually, I can tell you some stories about Director Ding…”

Then, Dayan Hao recounted in detail to Lin Ye the past punitive expedition that occurred in Great Xia, and how Ding Chang had fallen from grace.

This was the first time Lin Ye learned that the Great Xia Settlement had experienced such a thing.

It turned out that Ding Chang was once an LV4 powerhouse, and he was harmed by others to become like this.

“Mr. Lin, Teacher Ding has always had a wish: he wants to see the Great Xia Settlement become the first on Azure Star again, and he wants to see the people of Great Xia top the Hero Ranking.”

“I hope you can help Teacher Ding fulfill this wish!”

After speaking, Dayan Hao bowed deeply to Lin Ye, his voice slightly choked.

Lin Ye nodded faintly and patted Dayan Hao’s shoulder.

“If Director Ding wakes up, tell him.”

“Tell him to hold on a little longer; I will help him fulfill this wish very soon.”

-------------------------------------

Back in the Cliff Villa.

Lin Ye didn't bother to rest and immediately entered the Genesis Space.

He began to organize the completed parts of Great Wall Watch and set up an initial stage dungeon mission.

Things like the South Heaven Gate Plan could be triggered like the Patriotic War BUFF in Winter is Coming, only when the dungeon progressed to a certain extent.

As long as enough dungeon space was reserved in advance, that would be sufficient.

This process was quick; after about ten minutes, Lin Ye emerged from the Genesis Space and then directly summoned the Sky Curtain.

“Sky Curtain!”

“Please review my latest dungeon. The dungeon’s name is Earth Online - The Great Wall Watch (Test Version).”

[Sky Curtain has received the dungeon review application submitted by Dungeon Designer: Lin Ye!]

[Dungeon review has started! Next, Sky Curtain will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the dungeon’s rationality, innovation, foresight, and other aspects!]

[Due to the large size of this dungeon, the review will take some time. Please Designer, wait patiently.]

“Wait a moment, Sky Curtain.”

“For this dungeon, I want to add something different,” Lin Ye said coldly.

“First, I hope the initial number of participants in the dungeon is set to two million! I hope the feasibility can be judged based on this number.”

“Second, I hope to change the traditional randomExtraction mode for the entire Azure Star to randomExtraction within one Settlement.”

“Because the difficulty of this dungeon is higher, compared to the scattered mode of random globalExtraction, confining it to one Settlement will be more beneficial for Challengers to experience and conquer the dungeon.”
