25: Chapter 25 Misunderstandings Lead to More Misunderstandings
Little Zhu was very surprised and said that Yu Yaowei's team had also booked the Hills Hotel, so they could conveniently travel to the hotel together.
The three first went to the baggage check-in area. Zhang Menglu only had one suitcase, but Little Zhu had seven, all belonging to Yu Yaowei.
She definitely couldn't manage them all by herself. Fortunately, Chen Hao and Zhang Menglu helped, preventing her from becoming flustered.
Walking out of the airport hall, the first thing they felt was a wave of heat washing over them, so hot it was almost suffocating.
Right at the exit, they saw a massive crowd of fans. These were all fans arranged by the company, along with a large number of entertainment reporters, armed with long lenses and large cameras, waiting under the scorching sun for the stars to appear.
"Wow, the scene is truly spectacular."
Zhang Menglu pushed two pieces of luggage, constantly exclaiming as she saw this sight.
"It's alright. This is just a small scene."
Zhu Shasha was unconcerned. Having entered the massive dye vat of the entertainment industry, the line between truth and falsehood had long been blurred.
The three first loaded all the suitcases onto the business van arranged by the company. As they waited inside the vehicle, Yu Yaowei made her grand entrance.
A security detail escorted Yu Yaowei out the main door, with the Manager responsible for her protection. The fans' frantic screams were deafening, and the flashes from the entertainment reporters were nonstop.
When they reached the business van, Yu Yaowei and the Manager both froze for a moment the instant they quickly got in.
"Who are you two? What are you doing in the car?"
Just as Zhu Shasha was about to explain, Yu Yaowei took off her sunglasses and seemed to recognize Chen Hao vaguely.
"I remember you. You're that... the person in charge from the brand endorsement side. Your name is..."
She couldn't recall his name for a long time, so Chen Hao proactively introduced himself.
"You have a great memory. My name is Chen Hao."
Zhang Menglu's face flushed with excitement.
"Yu Yaowei, I'm your fan! I really like you! Can you give me an autograph?"
The Manager closed the car door, glared at Little Zhu, and ordered the driver to start moving.
Yu Yaowei was busy the entire time. As soon as her phone turned on, a flood of text messages popped up with 'ding-dong' sounds. She was busy looking down and typing.
The atmosphere in the car was somewhat tense, and they arrived at the hotel like that.
Yu Yaowei first checked into the hotel. Her assistant, Zhu Shasha, contacted the hotel staff to handle moving all the luggage.
Chen Hao and Zhang Menglu finished checking in at the front desk, said goodbye to Little Zhu, and headed to their room.
"Wow, this room is really nice."
Standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, the bustling city view lay before them.
Chen Hao pulled her into his embrace from behind.
"Take a shower first. Rest today. Tomorrow I'll take you out on the town."
Zhang Menglu asked shyly,
"Shall we shower together?"
"Of course."
Zhang Menglu instinctively looked around left and right and gasped.
"Where's my luggage?"
...
Meanwhile.
The Presidential Suite at the Hills Five-Star Hotel.
Yu Yaowei was still typing messages. The Manager and Zhu Shasha were tidying up the luggage. The Manager muttered while working.
"Can't you be more careful? You don't bring just anyone into the car. Do you know who he is? What if the itinerary is leaked? Can you take responsibility for that?"
Zhu Shasha looked wronged, lowering her head to clean up silently.
She had just opened one suitcase when she instantly froze.
Although the suitcase was full of women's clothing, the matching bras, stockings, etc., were all cheap brands—not a single item belonged to Yu Yaowei.
"Bang."
She quickly shut the suitcase. The sudden movement made a loud noise that startled the Manager.
"What are you doing, making such a racket?"
She gave an awkward smile and tried to casually push the suitcase aside.
"Nothing, it's nothing."
Mixing up luggage wasn't a huge deal, but if the Manager found out, she would inevitably start nagging again. To avoid trouble, she could only feign nonchalance and pretend nothing happened.
Yu Yaowei walked to the bedroom doorway.
"Sister Li, Little Zhu, I'm hungry. Stop tidying up for now and come eat with me."
"Alright, we'll be right there."
The Manager replied and hurried out to ask what they wanted to eat.
...
On the other side.
Zhang Menglu's composure had completely broken down.
"Forget the clothes; they weren't worth much anyway, but my bank card is inside! If that gets lost, how will I buy inventory?"
She was on the verge of tears, feeling wronged. Chen Hao quickly comforted her, persuading her gently.
"Don't worry. I'll go back right now and help you find the luggage."
Saying that, Chen Hao went out the door. Fortunately, he had added Little Zhu on WeChat at the airport earlier; otherwise, even staying in the same hotel, it would have been difficult to track down the luggage.
He took out his phone and messaged Little Zhu.
"Where are you? The luggage was mixed up. You took my girlfriend's luggage too."
Zhu Shasha typed back a reply.
"We are just about to go to the restaurant to eat. Wait a moment, don't worry. I'll return your luggage to you shortly."
"How about I just come to the restaurant to find you?"
"Absolutely not! Just wait in the lobby. I'll be there very soon."
Zhu Shasha didn't want to be scolded and hoped to resolve the issue privately; she absolutely could not let the "Boss" or the Manager find out.
As a result, Chen Hao waited in the lobby for over an hour.
Guests came and went through the hotel lobby frequently.
Just as Chen Hao was starting to get impatient waiting, Zhu Shasha rushed into the lobby.
"I'm here. Follow me."
He had expected Little Zhu to bring the luggage down, never imagining that she would personally lead Chen Hao up to the suite to retrieve it.
As they took the elevator upstairs, neither of them spoke. They went straight to the top-floor Presidential Suite.
Looking out from on high, Chen Hao was immediately captivated by the huge floor-to-ceiling window upon entering. The night view with neon lights outside was truly spectacular.
"Don't look around."
Zhu Shasha led Chen Hao into the bedroom. Some suitcases were open, various high-end gowns were hanging in the closet, and clothes were scattered all over the bed.
"This is your luggage."
Zhu Shasha handed him the luggage that belonged to him. To prevent another mix-up, Chen Hao opened it to check. It was full of intimate apparel, mainly stockings—yes, it was Zhang Menglu's suitcase.
"Let's go."
Just as the two were about to leave, they heard the Manager Sister Li's voice from the doorway.
"Director Zhang, please come in and wait a moment. Wei Wei will be back soon."
The sound of the door opening came from the entrance. Zhu Shasha felt something was wrong and instinctively pushed Chen Hao back toward the interior.
"Click."
The room door opened, and the Manager Sister Li ushered a portly, middle-aged man into the suite.
Fortunately, Zhu Shasha and Chen Hao had already slipped into the bedroom and closed the door, thus avoiding detection.
"Oh no, oh no, what should we do?"
Zhu Shasha panicked. If they were discovered, being scolded would be the least of it. If the Manager misunderstood and suspected she was meeting Chen Hao in secret, or suspected her of theft, she wouldn't be able to clear her name even if she jumped into the Yellow River.
"Hide! Hide in the closet for a while."
Zhu Shasha pushed Chen Hao into the closet. In the cramped, dark, sealed space, the two were almost pressed body-to-body, their breaths audible. The scent of Zhu Shasha's perfume drifted into his nose, making Chen Hao feel a bit restless.
