125: You're not trying to trick me into paying a higher price, are you?

Chen Kai walked out of the armchair specialty store, glanced back, and confirmed that the chair wasn't in this one.

Following the navigation's location, he started walking towards the second store.

Before long, Chen Kai stopped at the entrance of the second store. Guarding the inside of the store was an older woman, who was gnawing on boiled corn while watching a TV show.

Seeing Chen Kai standing at the store entrance, she waved enthusiastically. "We have everything in the store, from things costing a few dozen yuan to tens of thousands. We have all kinds of chairs. Care to come in and take a look?"

Chen Kai chuckled and walked into the store.

"Ma'am, you go ahead and do your thing. I'll just look around to see if there's anything I like."

As soon as he finished speaking, he circled the store but didn't see any glowing chair. He turned all the chair backs around to check, but still couldn't find it.

Could it be in the warehouse again?

"Young man, I've been watching you turn chair backs for a while now. What are you looking to buy?"

The older woman, holding corn in one hand, stood behind him, chewing as she asked curiously.

"I want to buy a chair with a number on the back. I've been looking for a while, and it seems you don't have one here. Is there one in the warehouse?"

The Old Woman was stunned upon hearing this. "Can't you just stick some numbers on it yourself?"

Chen Kai twitched his lips. "It's definitely not the same if I stick them on myself. You don't have any in the warehouse?"

The Old Woman shook her head and sat back down in her chair. "No, you'll just have to stick something on it yourself."

Seeing the Old Woman like this, she really wanted to make money; if she wasn't interested, then it definitely wasn't there.

He slowly walked out of the store, a bit bewildered, and pulled up the system to check the information again.

It's definitely in this furniture mall. Could it be in the first store? But the first store didn't have it either.

Chen Kai scratched his head and followed the navigation back to the location of the first store.

Just as he arrived at the first armchair store, Chen Kai was suddenly taken aback. Why had the person in the store changed?

The college student with the clear, naive eyes from earlier was gone. Instead, a young woman with long hair wearing a white shirt was moving things out from the warehouse at the very back of the store.

The young woman, wearing a mask, had just moved a chair out from the warehouse doorway when she saw Chen Kai standing at the store entrance looking at her.

"Hello, what style of chair are you looking to buy? Would you like me to make a recommendation?"

The young woman asked timidly, setting down the chair in her hands.

"It's fine, you go ahead with your work. I'll just take a look to see if there's a style I like."

"Oh, okay, then I'll continue moving things, sir."

The woman said, then continued walking toward the storage room.

Chen Kai carefully examined the chairs the woman had just moved out. He gradually confirmed that this was indeed the store selling the limited edition item.

It was just that earlier, no one had come over yet, so nothing was being moved out.

Just a moment later, the woman suddenly came out holding an armchair that was emitting a faint glow. She was holding the armrests on both sides with her hands, and the back of the chair was facing him. He could easily see the golden tag labeled "018" stuck to the back of the chair!

Chen Kai immediately got excited, but quickly told himself to stay calm and touched the tip of his nose.

"Is this chair for sale? It actually looks quite nice."

"Ah? This one? There's no price written on it... I have to ask our boss."

When Chen Kai heard this, he immediately got a bit anxious. If she asked the boss, it would be ruined.

"Isn't it written on the back? One hundred and eighty."

The woman was stunned, immediately turned the chair around, and was a bit bewildered after looking at the number on the back.

"This seems to be a serial number, right?"

"No... I have to ask the boss for instructions... Please wait a moment, I'll make a phone call."

Chen Kai heard this, and if she weren't still there, he would have slapped his thigh. Damn! He should have just named a price.

"It even has this gaudy gold number on the back. It's so tacky, just sell it to me for two hundred. It just so happens I need a chair, and I actually like gaudy gold."

The woman shook her head repeatedly, looking very principled, and had already dialed the phone.

Chen Kai sighed deeply. This was ruined. Their boss definitely wouldn't let her sell it. He wouldn't be able to pick up this limited edition item for a bargain after all.

All his work today was for nothing!

The next moment, the call connected, and the sound of mahjong tiles clashing came from the other end of the line.

"Five of dots! What is it? What's the matter? Speak quickly if you have something to say, I'm busy."

Upon hearing this, the woman hurriedly reported the situation. "Boss, I dug out an armchair from the warehouse, and a customer has taken a liking to it, but there's no price tag. How much should I sell it for?"

The irritable voice on the other end of the phone immediately went up two octaves.

"Seven of bamboo! Damn it, what's the point of hiring you to watch the store? You have to ask me for the price of a lousy chair?"

"Didn't I tell you before training? Sell everything with a price tag at its listed price. Anything without a price tag is a chair worth under five hundred yuan; however much you can swindle out of them, that's how much you get."

The woman had the speakerphone on, looked up, and made eye contact with Chen Kai, her expression somewhat awkward.

"Boss, I just think that chair is quite pretty, and there's a... on the back of the chair."

Before the woman could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by the boss.

"Don't give me that nonsense. Even if there is something on the back, if it's not priced, it's five hundred! Being able to swindle a high price is your skill."

"Two of dots!"

Afterward, the phone was ruthlessly hung up, and Chen Kai and the woman looked at each other blankly.

Chen Kai swallowed, and said somewhat uncertainly.

"You... aren't thinking of trying to swindle me with a high price, are you?"

The woman's expression was awkward, feeling a bit mortified, but she still nodded in admission.

"That was indeed my intention... Look, the workmanship of this chair, and there's even a number plate on the back, it exudes nobility..."

"Do I look like an idiot to you? Five hundred at most!"

Chen Kai curled his lips, but still feigned an annoyed expression.

The woman sighed deeply, her face full of regret. She sold chairs in this store, and anything without a price tag was a chair worth under 500.

If she could sell this unpriced item for over 500, that would be her extra commission.

She seemed to have missed out on something... If she had known, she wouldn't have put it on speakerphone.

It had a number on the back, so she thought it was some expensive chair, but it turned out the cost was less than five hundred yuan. Trash!

"Fine, fine, five hundred yuan it is, I'll sell it to you."

Chen Kai was stunned. She didn't even counter-offer? He had already prepared to turn around and walk away.

"Alright, then let's scan the code."

[Beep! Payment successful, 500 yuan.]

"Then I'll be taking it."

"Mm... take care."

A smile curled onto Chen Kai's lips, and he grabbed the chair by both armrests and walked out.

He loaded the chair into the trunk as fast as he could and drove off.

After Chen Kai left, the female clerk continued moving chairs out from the warehouse, but the boss's phone call suddenly came through again.

"Hello, what is it, boss?"

"It's all your fault, you caused me to lose twelve hundred."

"I just finished this round. What did you say was on the back of the chair? I didn't hear you clearly earlier before I hung up."

Only now did the boss remember that there was still an "unusual" chair in his warehouse.
