112: Chapter 112 Qin Zhaoye's Provocation, A Deadly Battle!
By the time Lu Cheng arrived at the school infirmary, half the corridor was already packed with members of the Shengwu Society.
The lights here were chillingly white, and the air was thick with the smell of disinfectant, along with the low hum of the treatment pods in operation.
Several members stood against the wall, their expressions grim. This group, usually rowdy in the training hall, was now speaking in hushed tones.
Even Su Wan, Xia Xi, and Qian Shuying had received the news and rushed to the infirmary.
Inside the ward, the injured member lay within a treatment pod.
It was Han Yue, a regular member who had just been recruited by the Shengwu Society; his entire body was practically immobilized inside the transparent pod.
The bones in his right arm were shattered, his shoulder blade was collapsed, there was a clear indentation on his chest, and seven of his ribs were broken.
There were several deep purple bruises on his abdomen, and the veins under his skin were tinted with an unnatural black-blue hue, clearly indicating that someone had used Source Power to shock his internal organs.
His left leg below the knee was beaten out of shape, and medical robotic arms were slowly correcting the bone alignment. Layers of pale green repair fluid were covering him, and the vital signs on the instrument were still fluctuating.
Bai Zhou said in a low voice, "His life is saved, but he'll have to lie in bed for at least half a month. He'll need nerve repair afterward, otherwise, his left leg will suffer permanent damage."
Chen Zhanfeng clenched his fists, making them crack.
"Who did this?"
No one answered.
There was a silence in the corridor.
Lu Cheng looked at Han Yue in the treatment pod, the slight drunkenness he had brought from Shen Guhong's courtyard having completely dissipated.
He turned his head to look at President Ji Guyan.
"President Ji, what is going on here?"
Lu Cheng asked.
President Ji Guyan did not answer immediately.
He first glanced at Lin Yifang.
Lin Yifang's eyes drifted away, and he rubbed his nose, immediately pretending to look at the medical instructions on the wall.
It was obvious that this loose-lipped guy had spread the news.
President Ji Guyan suppressed his anger, though his voice remained relatively steady.
"I'm not sure yet."
He paused.
"But I have a good idea of who it is."
Lu Cheng's eyes darkened slightly.
"Does the academy allow infighting among students?"
President Ji Guyan looked up at the treatment pod, his tone cooling slightly.
"As long as it isn't fatal and there is no concrete evidence, all actions are permitted during the Navigator Academy selection period. This is also the rule of the Navigator Academy."
Lu Cheng frowned.
Lin Yifang couldn't help but speak up, "Then report it to the academy and have the instructors investigate."
President Ji Guyan shook his head.
"This is the Navigator Academy. If we want to bring the culprit to justice through 'regulations,' we have to do it ourselves; that would be too slow."
When he said this, the anger in his usually cool and calm eyes could no longer be suppressed.
Lin Yifang continued, "Isn't the academy afraid of a collective student riot?"
"That is exactly what the school wants... Students who emerge from such situations often have terrifyingly high aptitude..."
Just as President Ji Guyan finished speaking, a mocking voice came from beside them.
"Yo, yo, yo, isn't this..."
The voice was drawn out long, carrying a disgusting smile.
"...a member of the Shengwu Society?"
"What's wrong... are you about to be beaten into a cripple?"
At the end of the corridor, a group of people walked over slowly.
Leading them was Qin Zhaoye.
He was wearing a black training uniform, his features sharp, and a smile hung on the corners of his mouth.
Behind him followed a dozen or so members of the Zhenwu Society, each with their arms crossed and heads tilted, their faces wearing expressions of watching a spectacle.
President Ji Guyan looked at Qin Zhaoye and said, "Qin Zhaoye."
His voice was very flat.
So flat that the temperature in the corridor seemed to drop a notch.
"Isn't it a fight you want?"
President Ji Guyan took a step forward.
"Come."
"Fight."
"Choose however you want to fight."
Qin Zhaoye laughed.
He raised his hand and clapped lightly twice, his eyes full of smugness.
"Oh, how unfortunate, I don't want to fight right now."
He tilted his head to look at Han Yue in the ward, his tone leisurely.
"I actually want to see the members of the Shengwu Society all end up in the hospital one by one."
Several members of the Zhenwu Society started laughing along.
The laughter was soft, yet grating to the ears.
"Pfft."
Lu Cheng suddenly laughed.
Once this laughter came out, the corridor instantly quieted down significantly.
Qin Zhaoye looked at him.
Lu Cheng raised his head, staring straight at Qin Zhaoye, a smile still on his lips.
"What kind of crap is that? Just based on you bunch of rejects?"
He raised his hand and pointed at the group behind Qin Zhaoye.
"Relying on a dozen or twenty people to attack one regular member, tsk tsk tsk..."
"You have no shame, and yet you're threatening us with this kind of trash?"
The expressions of several people on the Zhenwu Society side changed instantly.
Someone cursed on the spot, "Who are you calling rejects?"
Lu Cheng swept his gaze over.
That person's voice immediately dropped by half.
Lu Cheng continued to look at Qin Zhaoye.
"A bunch of losers who only dare to huddle together for warmth."
"Bullshit, clearly..."
A lackey beside Qin Zhaoye was about to speak, but Qin Zhaoye suddenly raised his hand and pressed it directly over his mouth.
The lackey's eyes widened, his words forcibly choked back.
Qin Zhaoye's eyes instantly sharpened.
If he really let this idiot spill the beans, this trip today would become a self-exposure. Although everyone knew it in their hearts, saying it out loud was a different matter.
He hadn't achieved his goal yet, and he didn't want to lose a subordinate just yet.
Qin Zhaoye slowly lowered his hand, staring at Lu Cheng.
"Number one in points?"
He sneered.
"I don't know what methods you used to get first place, but since you want to die, you can feel free to try."
He took half a step forward, his voice lowered, yet everyone around could hear it clearly.
"It's not just you."
"The two beauties living with you will also meet with misfortune."
When this sentence fell.
Xia Xi's eyes changed, her internal energy surged, and the small hammer she took from her pocket instantly grew hundreds of times larger.
Bang!
The floor tiles shook.
A chill instantly radiated from Su Wan, and a thin layer of frost formed on the metal edge of the ward door.
Qian Shuying narrowed her eyes, the first Geng Metal Tiger Pattern appeared on her body, and the killing intent in her eyes was terrifyingly clear.
The smile on Lu Cheng's face vanished. To be honest, in this situation with the Shengwu Society, if President Ji Guyan couldn't handle it, then there was no need for Lu Cheng to stay.
There was a very important reason why he stood out this time...
He could feel that this Qin Zhaoye had strong hostility toward him...
So he wanted to test this person, but he didn't expect...
That he would actually dare to threaten the people around him...
He looked at Qin Zhaoye, his eyes sinking little by little; he was truly angry.
President Ji Guyan took a step forward and spoke coldly.
"Avril."
The smart screen above the corridor immediately lit up.
The next second, a virtual girl with pink hair popped out from the screen, her twin short tails swaying gently, a standard business smile on her face.
"Navigator Academy AI Hub Avril at your service. What business do you need to handle?"
President Ji Guyan stared at Qin Zhaoye.
"Initiate a deathmatch application against Qin Zhaoye."
Avril's smile paused for a moment, then a red prompt popped up on the screen.
[Keyword detected: Deathmatch application.]
[Applicant: President Ji Guyan.]
[Target: Qin Zhaoye.]
[Please confirm submission.]
President Ji Guyan did not hesitate.
"Confirm."
He looked at Qin Zhaoye and said word by word, "Qin Zhaoye, if you want to fight, I will fight you!"
The corridor completely exploded.
"Deathmatch?"
"Holy shit, are they really playing for such high stakes?"
"These two must have had a grudge for a long time, right?"
The discussions spread in circles.
Qin Zhaoye laughed.
It had been a long time since he last saw President Ji Guyan angered.
Today was worth the price of admission.
This is good.
The angrier, the easier to lose control.
The more out of control, the easier it is to get the result he wants.
Qin Zhaoye looked up at Avril.
"Not enough."
President Ji Guyan's eyes were cold.
"What do you mean?"
Qin Zhaoye extended a finger and shook it gently.
"You alone are not enough."
He turned to look at the members of the Zhenwu Society behind him, his smile becoming more pronounced.
"I have six people here."
"A gauntlet deathmatch."
"At the same time, we must bet all the participants' points and credits."
Once these words were out, the expressions of many regular members on the Shengwu Society side changed.
The academy does not support full deathmatches. A so-called deathmatch allows for surrender but does not allow for admitting defeat prematurely. If one dies in battle without surrendering, no one is allowed to pursue any consequences.
President Ji Guyan's brows furrowed slightly; if it were only betting himself, it wouldn't matter.
He could not decide for others.
He turned his head to look behind him.
Many regular members clearly flinched.
This was also normal...
They had just entered the Navigator Academy, just joined the Shengwu Society; no one wanted to throw everything onto the gambling table because of a moment of impulse.
Qin Zhaoye saw all these reactions, and the smile on his face grew even thicker.
"What?"
"Didn't you want to fight just now? Now everyone is mute?"
Lu Cheng suddenly stepped forward and shook his head.
"What a joke, just to deal with you people... I alone am enough."
Qin Zhaoye was taken aback.
People from both societies were stunned.
Lu Cheng flexed his wrists, his knuckles cracking softly.
"You six line up together, I'll send you in one by one to keep him company in the hospital ward. The infirmary can earn some extra treatment fees tonight."
He looked at Su Wan, Xia Xi, and Qian Shuying.
"Join me to make up the numbers?"
Xia Xi immediately raised her hammer. "I'm in!"
Qian Shuying twitched the corner of her mouth. "Count me in."
Su Wan didn't waste words, just nodded.
Lin Yifang, Chen Zhanfeng, and other members with positions in the society joined as well.
Lu Cheng turned to look at President Ji Guyan.
"Come on, President, accept his challenge!"
President Ji Guyan took a deep breath and looked at Qin Zhaoye again.
"Avril, modify the application."
Avril responded quickly.
"Please specify the challenge mode."
President Ji Guyan said coldly, "Shengwu Society versus Zhenwu Society, six-person gauntlet deathmatch."
"Wager: Both sides' current points and credits."
Qin Zhaoye smiled and added, "And the priority distribution rights for all mission earnings this month."
President Ji Guyan stared at him.
"Fine."
Data streams in Avril's pupils refreshed frantically.
"High-risk society gambling match application generating..."
"Main intent detected from both societies."
"Wager scale detected as too high."
"Secondary confirmation required from both heads."
Qin Zhaoye raised his hand and tapped his terminal.
"Confirm."
President Ji Guyan also clicked confirm.
The next second, a line of striking red text lit up on the light screen above the corridor.
[Shengwu Society VS Zhenwu Society]
[Six-person gauntlet deathmatch application submitted]
[Pending academy review]
Qin Zhaoye looked at the red text and smiled with satisfaction.
"President Ji Guyan, very good, your courage is commendable..."
Qin Zhaoye looked at Lu Cheng—killing two birds with one stone; how could he have applied for this gambling match without some certainty...
As long as he took that person down... the family heir position... would be his!
He never expected, never expected, that the son from that incident back then would actually dare to appear in front of everyone.
