99: Chapter 99: Number One in the Entire School?!
The cabin was filled with a mixture of the scent of blood and disinfectant.
Military doctors ran back and forth, stretchers were lined up one after another, and the floor was still stained with uncleaned blood.
Most of the students were heavily injured; some of the severe cases were missing arms or legs, lying on the stretchers, gritting their teeth, their foreheads covered in cold sweat, yet they didn't utter a single sound.
Lu Cheng leaned against the cabin wall, looked down at the bandages wrapped around his chest and shoulders, and then looked around, suddenly feeling that his injuries could even be considered "honor student level light injuries."
"Damn it..."
He muttered under his breath.
A military doctor nearby was stopping someone's bleeding without even raising their head.
"You can still curse, which means you're in good condition."
Lu Cheng grimaced; just as he was about to retort, his chest pulled with pain, so he immediately behaved himself.
Xia Xi sat beside him, holding a bottle of recently distributed recovery fluid, looking at him with a scrunched-up face.
"You should talk less."
Lu Cheng sighed, took the recovery fluid, and downed it in one gulp, immediately feeling a wave of heat in his throat.
The fatigue in his body was suppressed a little, and the soreness in his bones eased somewhat.
The airship was flying very fast.
The cabin emitted low vibrations from time to time, and outside the window, the clouds were torn apart by the thrusters, retreating in large swathes.
Lu Cheng leaned against the metal cabin wall, closed his eyes to rest for a while, and before long, he heard a low exclamation from someone in the front row.
"We're here..."
Lu Cheng opened his eyes and looked out through the porthole.
About ten minutes later, a behemoth had already emerged at the end of the distant horizon.
As the airship approached, the details became clearer bit by bit.
The exaggeratedly high alloy city wall stretched out horizontally, its surface covered with deep black armor plates and dense energy patterns, while heavy artillery turrets protruded outward from the top, gleaming with a cold metallic luster.
Outside the city wall were several layers of defense zones: steel anti-cavalry obstacles, automatic fire towers, patrol tracks, and retractable barriers, one layer after another.
Further away, one could see signal towers and anti-aircraft towers towering into the clouds, with blue-white electric arcs occasionally jumping between the tips, and several patrol airships circling in mid-air, their searchlights scanning back and forth below.
The entire fortress lay on the border line, huge, heavy, and strict; just looking at it made one feel breathless.
Zhou Jinan lay against the window on the other side, his eyes almost bulging out.
"Holy crap... isn't this too big?"
Qian Shuying also looked outside, her voice lowering.
"Is this the Yaocheng Fortress?"
A military person in front heard this and replied casually.
"Yes, Yaocheng Fortress, the largest border fortress in the Dragon Kingdom."
The airship continued to descend, and the view zoomed in accordingly.
Only then did everyone see clearly that Yaocheng Fortress was actually divided into two distinct areas.
The east side was a standard military border fortress; the walls, barracks, armories, training grounds, landing pads, and armored train tracks all exuded a blood-and-iron atmosphere, with an astonishing density of soldiers and mechanical transport vehicles moving back and forth.
The west side was a completely different style.
It was also surrounded by high walls and energy barriers, but the internal architecture was clearly more modern.
Skyscrapers, towers, suspended corridors, giant training halls, simulated battlefield areas, and research centers were all built on large silver-gray platforms, with faint blue light patterns flowing across the building surfaces.
Someone whispered, "Is that the Navigator Academy over there?"
The officer in the front row nodded.
"The east side is the fortress proper, and the west side is the Navigator Academy campus. You will most likely be active over there in the future."
The airship landed slowly.
As soon as the cabin door opened, the cold wind outside poured in, carrying a mixed scent of metal, machine oil, and disinfectant.
As soon as they got off the airship, Lu Cheng and the others didn't even have a chance to look around before they were quickly diverted by a group of medical and logistics personnel waiting nearby.
"Severe injuries first!"
"Stretchers over here!"
"Amputees to the repair department first!"
"Those with blurred consciousness to the emergency area!"
The entire landing pad was incredibly busy.
Lu Cheng was supported by two medical personnel as he walked forward, with stretchers constantly being pushed past him.
Some were unconscious, some were biting towels to endure the pain; the sound of wheels rolling over the ground, the shouts of the medical staff, and the beeping of equipment were all mixed together.
The Navigator Academy hospital was located not far behind the landing pad.
It was a massive silver building with walls so clean they shone, with a pale blue cross emblem hanging above the main entrance, and floating stretchers constantly moving in and out of the doorway.
Behind the glass curtain wall, one could see the automatic triage system in operation, with robotic arms, scanning gates, and Source Power detectors lighting up in rows, operating with extreme efficiency.
As soon as Lu Cheng was pushed inside, he was scanned from head to toe by a blue light.
"ID confirmed, injury level moderate to light, priority level three, send to recovery area."
"Chest contusion, muscle tearing, Source Power exhaustion, suggest twenty-four hours of bed rest."
"Next."
The entire process was ridiculously fast.
Before Lu Cheng could react, he was sent to the corresponding ward.
...
Once things were settled, Pei Zhuangning finally walked out from the rear military passage.
She had just finished dealing with the Black Seed captives and casualty registrations, and her face still carried a hint of fatigue.
Her red hair was tied behind her head, her military uniform was sharp, and her gaze swept over the batches of students being brought down, finally stopping in a certain direction.
Pei Yan was preparing to follow the flow of people off the airship.
"Hey, you..."
Pei Zhuangning spoke, her voice not loud but very distinctive.
Pei Yan's footsteps paused; he turned to see her and froze for a moment.
Pei Zhuangning looked at him.
"Your name is Pei Yan, right?"
Pei Yan immediately stood straight, and the usual arrogance on his face instantly vanished by more than half.
"Yes... yes, Cousin... what's wrong?"
Pei Zhuangning looked at him for two seconds and asked directly:
"What is Lu Cheng like?"
As soon as Pei Yan heard this name, his expression changed on the spot.
Lu Cheng.
Thinking of that beating on the airship, and the fact that his backside was still throbbing with pain, the fire in his heart flared up instantly.
"Shameless! A hooligan!"
Pei Yan gritted his teeth, his face turning dark.
"This guy is simply..."
Pei Zhuangning frowned and interrupted directly.
"I'm talking about his strength."
Pei Yan opened his mouth, stunned for a moment... He wanted to slander him but couldn't say a word... After holding it in for a long time, he finally spoke.
"Strong... terrifyingly strong..."
After hearing this, Pei Zhuangning's eyes flickered slightly.
"Is that so..."
She nodded and didn't ask further.
Pei Yan was considered one of the top talents in this generation of the Pei family.
Although he was only in the Body Refining Realm, the elders in the family always said he was a once-in-a-century fire-refining prodigy, and with his S-Rank Talent, he was definitely an outstanding figure among his peers!
To be able to make him honestly say the four words "terrifyingly strong" after cursing someone...
Pei Zhuangning already had an idea in her mind; to be able to make such a person submit...
This Lu Cheng...
Might really be a monster.
...
Lu Cheng recovered faster than anyone expected.
The Navigator Academy hospital's treatment standards were high to begin with, and coupled with his own exaggerated physical recovery ability, by the next morning, he was already able to walk around.
When the ward door opened, Su Wan, Xia Xi, Qian Shuying, and Zhou Jinan walked in together, and as soon as they entered, they saw Lu Cheng standing by the window exercising his shoulders.
Zhou Jinan's eyes widened on the spot.
"Holy crap, you're already recovered? The treatment at the Navigator Academy is too advanced!"
Lu Cheng turned his head and stretched his neck.
"My physique is just good, can't help it."
Xia Xi walked over quickly, looked him up and down, and her eyes lit up.
"Are you really almost all better?"
"Pretty much!"
Qian Shuying asked, "You're checking out?"
"Obviously." Lu Cheng said righteously, "Reporting closes tomorrow, and since I'm already better, I shouldn't wait until the last minute..."
Before long, Lu Cheng finished the discharge procedures and walked with the others toward the reporting area.
...
The gate of the Navigator Academy was much more exaggerated than it looked from the airship...
It was a massive gateway tens of meters high, cast entirely from silver and black metal, with glowing patterns embedded along the edges and three large characters hanging above it: Navigator.
On both sides of the gate stood two giant warrior statues, one holding a spear, the other a sword, gazing straight ahead, with broken beast bones and Black Seed remains under their feet, maximizing the sense of oppression.
Inside the gate was a semi-transparent energy light screen; when students entered or exited, the light screen would automatically scan their identity information, while a row of intelligent guards stood quietly nearby, the lights on their chests flashing rhythmically.
Inside the academy, an absurdly wide main road stretched out, the ground so clean it shone.
Floating indicator screens, automatic shuttle buses, Source Power training halls, simulated combat towers, research buildings, dormitory areas, and commercial streets were all neatly planned.
Many building walls had flowing light patterns, and occasionally small drones swept through the air.
After all, it was the number one academy for humanity; this place was many times more developed than the cities they came from!
There were a lot of people coming to report today.
The square was full of freshmen, and everyone exuded a sense of arrogance in their bones!
Rows of reporting counters in front were all open, teachers and staff were working busily, and the big screen continuously scrolled with freshman guidelines and dormitory allocation rules.
Just as Lu Cheng and the others were walking forward, a very unhappy voice suddenly came from the front.
"What does this mean?!"
Everyone looked over subconsciously.
It was a well-dressed boy in a designer combat suit, with two attendants carrying suitcases following behind him.
Those who brought attendants had families who paid in advance to have the attendants sent here to wait and serve their young masters or misses.
However, the academy did not allocate rooms for attendants, and students were not allowed to live off-campus.
Of course... if you had the strength, you could naturally be allocated a large enough room to bring your attendants to stay.
He stood in front of the counter with a very ugly expression.
"Why was I only allocated a ten-square-meter room? And I have to share it with someone else? Do you know who I am?"
The teacher behind the counter didn't even raise their head, tapped their fingers on the screen a few times, and spoke in a flat tone.
"Not enough points; you can only live here."
The boy's voice rose in anger.
"My dad is..."
The teacher finally looked up at him, their tone still without any fluctuation.
"Even if you were the Grand Councilor's child, with such low points, you could only live here."
As soon as this was said, the surroundings quieted down a bit.
Many people looked over there.
The boy's face turned blue then white; his lips moved, but in the end, he didn't say the rest of his words.
He clearly remembered what his family elders had told him in advance.
In the end, he could only grit his teeth and retreat to the side with a dark face.
Skipping this farce, the group casually found a counter to queue at.
When it was their turn, the people in front presented their documents one by one.
"Name, Xia Xi."
The teacher glanced at the screen.
"50 points, allocated a twenty-square-meter single dormitory, A7 District."
Xia Xi blinked and took the ID card.
"A single dormitory? Not bad."
"Next, Su Wan."
"80 points, allocated a forty-square-meter luxury dormitory, B3 District."
People around heard this and immediately glanced over; a forty-square-meter luxury dormitory—this result was impressive enough... At least, she was the only one they had seen so far to move into such a room...
Su Wan took the card and stood to the side.
"Next, Tao Jiansheng."
"60 points, allocated a twenty-five-square-meter single dormitory, A5 District."
"Next..."
Qian Shuying, Zhou Jinan, and the others also finished reporting one after another.
Except for Su Wan and Tao Jiansheng who were slightly higher, the rest were basically all at 50 points.
It seems that for this batch of students who survived the Black Seed attack, the academy gave a uniform base of 50 points...
Soon, it was Lu Cheng's turn.
He handed over his documents, and the teacher took them and scanned them.
The next second, her eyes widened.
"Wait..."
She looked down to confirm again, her fingers freezing.
Another teacher nearby noticed something wrong, leaned over to take a look, and their expression changed instantly.
"How much?"
"200."
"What?!"
This commotion immediately drew the attention of everyone around.
Lu Cheng was also stunned for a moment.
"How much?"
Lu Cheng remembered... didn't he only ask Commander Yue for 100 points??
Where did this extra 100 points come from???
The teacher at the counter looked up at him, her tone carrying a hint of strangeness.
"200 points."
"Top freshman in the whole academy!"
As this sentence fell, the surroundings exploded.
"200?!"
"Are you kidding?"
"Didn't President Ji Guyan say that even with a full score, it was only 100 points? Where did these 200 points come from???"
"Top of the whole academy?"
"Who is this guy?!"
A wave of gazes instantly fell upon Lu Cheng.
The teacher took a deep breath and continued reading.
"Lu Cheng, allocated one two-story detached villa, C1 Core Residential Area."
