Chapter 47 A Little Incident During the House Purchase

After bidding farewell to Zhao Feiyu, Chu Han rushed home immediately.

He had only informed his parents through the communicator that he had successfully certified as a Martial Artist, without mentioning his Rank. He intended to give them a surprise.

"Xiao Han!"

Just as Chu Han reached the entrance of the residential area, he saw both his parents waiting for him there.

"Dad, Mom, why did you come out to meet me?"

"Ever since your father received the news that you passed your martial artist certification half an hour ago, he hasn't been able to calm down. He insisted on dragging me downstairs to wait for you," Zhang Meilan said with a smile.

Chu Zhan patted Chu Han on the shoulder. "Good lad! Becoming a 1st Tier Martial Artist before the Martial Arts Grand Examination... you're much better than your old man was back then!" His eyes were filled with pride and relief.

Chu Han smiled and took out the golden martial artist medal from his pocket. "Dad, I only said I passed the certification; I didn't say I was a 1st Tier Martial Artist."

"Not 1st Tier? Could it be 2nd Tier?"

Chu Zhan reached out with a laugh to grab the medal and check it. His eyes suddenly bulged, and the smile on his face froze instantly. His voice trembled as he said, "This... this is actually a Third-Tier Martial Artist medal!"

Before his injury, he had also been a Third-Tier Martial Artist, so he quickly recognized the medal's Rank. A wave of shock surged through his heart.

Shock, bewilderment, and then pure ecstasy followed. "An eighteen-year-old Third-Tier Martial Artist! Hahaha, as expected of Chu Zhan's son!"

Although Zhang Meilan wasn't a Martial Artist, she knew what a Third-Tier Martial Artist represented.

Her son was only eighteen, yet he had already reached the level her husband had achieved at his Peak.

Her husband, Chu Zhan, had been thirty when he became a Third-Tier Martial Artist. There was simply no comparison.

Neighbors passing by heard the commotion and looked over one after another.

Someone recognized Chu Han and whispered, "Isn't that Old Chu's son? I heard he went to take the Martial Artist exam. Did he pass?"

"Looking at how excited Old Chu is, it's probably something extraordinary!"

Immediately, various gazes of envy and jealousy were cast their way.

Chu Han said with a smile, "I didn't say it at first because I wanted to surprise you."

"You child, this surprise is certainly big enough."

"Let's not talk about that. Dad, Mom, which houses have you looked at these past few days? Let me see. We're going to buy a house right now. If we're fast, we can move tomorrow." Chu Han brought up the topic of the house.

Chu Zhan pulled a small notebook from his pocket. "Your mother and I have looked at several residential areas over the last few days. I've recorded them all in this book."

This was the notebook he had carried with him while house hunting. It was filled with names of different residential areas, floor plans, prices, and even simple hand-drawn layouts.

"It seems Mom and Dad are quite enthusiastic about buying a house," Chu Han chuckled to himself.

"Look, Xiao Han. These are all high-quality apartments in ordinary residential areas. They're spacious and relatively cheap. They'll definitely be comfortable to live in."

Chu Han took the notebook, scanned it, and shook his head. "Dad, Mom, didn't we agree to look at Martial Artist Residential Areas? The security of these ordinary areas can't compare to a Martial Artist Residential Area at all."

Although they lived within Jiangcheng City, flying exotic beasts often intruded into the city. Having his parents live in a Martial Artist Residential Area would help them avoid such dangers.

After all, there were many Martial Artists in such areas, and the security forces were much stronger.

However, Chu Han could understand his parents' intentions. After over a decade of hardship, the two elders had become very easy to satisfy.

But Chu Han's decision wouldn't change. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Forget about these ordinary areas. Let's go buy a house in Linjiang Community. Our family used to live there, so you're familiar with it."

Over the years, Chu Han had passed by Linjiang Community a few times, and he still held childhood memories of the place.

"Linjiang Community is a star Martial Artist Residential Area now. I heard many big shots from the association live there. The prices have quadrupled compared to before. A single house costs at least several million..." Zhang Meilan tried to persuade him.

"It's settled then."

Chu Han interrupted his mother and hailed a taxi to take his parents to Linjiang Community.

Unlike the dilapidated state of the old city district, Linjiang Community was incredibly luxurious.

It had undergone renovations and expansions over the last few years, making it look even more magnificent and grand.

The sales office of Linjiang Community was exceptionally lively today.

Since the martial artist certification had just concluded, many people who had recently become Martial Artists came here to inquire about and purchase houses.

"Hello, do you have an appointment?"

A sales lady approached them with a standard smile, though her eyes held a hint of subtle scrutiny.

Chu Han's family was dressed plainly, looking out of place among the glamorous crowd around them.

But she didn't let it show, because anyone who could come here was at least a 1st Tier Martial Artist, and they weren't people she could afford to offend.

"No appointment."

"If you don't have an appointment, you might need to wait for a while. The number of houses sold each day is limited."

"Hasn't Linjiang Community just finished its expansion? There should be plenty of new houses, right?" Chu Han asked.

"I'm sorry, sir, but this is a decision from our higher-ups," the sales lady said with a professional smile.

"Fine, then we'll wait for a bit."

Chu Han didn't make things difficult for her and went with his parents to wait in the lounge area.

Just as they sat down, a boastful voice drifted over from nearby. "Manager Wang, my son has successfully certified as a 1st Tier Martial Artist! We can sign the contract for that house we discussed before today!"

The speaker was a middle-aged man wearing a designer suit and a thick gold chain around his neck.

Beside him, a young man held a 1st Tier Martial Artist medal, his face full of arrogance.

Manager Wang hurriedly went to greet them with a smile. "Rest assured, President Li, your house has been reserved for a long time. This must be your esteemed son. Truly, a hero comes from the youth—becoming a 1st Tier Martial Artist right after Awakening!"

Everyone around cast envious glances at President Li and his son. An eighteen-year-old Martial Artist was highly valuable, and his future was bound to be limitless.

Feeling the gazes from the surroundings, the middle-aged man became even more smug, his vanity greatly satisfied.

Although his family wasn't extremely wealthy, they were quite well-off and owned their own company. However, because they lacked a Martial Artist in the family, they couldn't live in a Martial Artist Residential Area and thus couldn't enjoy its security guarantees.

Now that his son had become a Martial Artist, his feelings were actually similar to Chu Zhan's, though he was more inclined to show off—which was only human nature.

Chu Han's family waited for a long time, but as more and more people came to buy houses, their turn never came.

Just then, the roar of a car engine sounded outside, and a black sedan bearing the emblem of the Martial Arts Association slowly came to a stop.

The car door opened, and a middle-aged man in a black uniform stepped out, followed by a young man in his early twenties.

"Director Ling! What brings you here?"

Manager Wang's expression changed, and he immediately abandoned President Li to run outside. Bowing deeply, he spoke with extreme respect. "Why didn't you let me know you were coming? I would have personally come to the entrance to receive you!"

"This is my nephew, Ling Hao. He just certified as a 1st Tier Martial Artist last month and plans to buy a house in this area. I happened to be free to help him take a look," Director Ling said indifferently.

"Director Ling?"

Chu Han looked over at the sound and realized that the person who had arrived was the same official in charge when he had collected the bounty for the Night Owl Squad.

He hadn't expected to run into an acquaintance here.

Many Martial Artists on the scene rushed up to greet Director Ling warmly upon hearing he had arrived. Even President Li and his son didn't dare to lag behind.

Director Ling's attitude remained indifferent, as he was accustomed to such scenes.

His gaze swept casually across the hall until he suddenly spotted an unexpected figure in the lounge area, and his eyes instantly lit up.

"Out of the way, move aside."

He pushed through the crowd and walked over quickly. "Little brother Chu Han! You're here to buy a house too?"

Chu Han was currently someone the Chairman was paying close attention to, and it was said that he had even caught the eye of a Grandmaster-level figure. For such a Genius, Director Ling naturally wanted to greet him properly.

That single phrase, "Little brother Chu Han," caused the entire sales office to fall silent instantly.

Everyone was stunned. Director Ling was a leader of the Martial Artist Association and a 4th Tier Martial Artist—a big shot in Jiangcheng City. Why would he be so enthusiastic toward a young man?

Chu Han nodded with a smile. "Director Ling, I'm here with my parents to look at houses. However, I didn't have an appointment, so we've been waiting for over an hour and our turn hasn't come yet."

"Why would you need an appointment to look at houses?"

Director Ling frowned and turned to Manager Wang, his face darkening immediately. "Little brother Chu Han is a Third-Tier Martial Artist. I recall that Third-Tier Martial Artists enjoy priority selection rights when purchasing houses in Martial Artist Residential Areas. Did you not know that?"

Manager Wang's face turned pale instantly. He had previously thought Chu Han was ordinary, so he hadn't objected to his subordinate's arrangement to make the family wait.

He never expected this young man to be a Third-Tier Martial Artist!

He hurried over and bowed to Mr. Chu in apology. "I'm sorry, Mr. Chu! It was my ignorance and negligence. Please, this way! Let's go to the VIP room. You'll get a thirty percent discount, and you can choose any unit you like!"
