30: What video is in Chapter 30?

Zhao Jian got the money.

He went out and transferred 50,000 yuan to his mother.

The reason he gave was that the project progressed beyond expectations, and his boss gave him a reward.

He couldn't call it a salary; according to the usual schedule, it wasn't payday yet.

A message from his mother arrived quickly:

"Your father and I can still earn money at home. Don't be too frugal while you're away; spend what you need to."

Zhao Jian smiled happily, replying to the message as he walked.

He told his mother he still had money and that there would be even more bonuses and salary next month.

It wasn't until he sent a screenshot of his balance that he saw the notification that the money had been received.

Ever since deciding not to look for a job, Zhao Jian had been in a state of having nothing to do every day.

The operations of the Vegetable Market relied entirely on the vendors themselves.

Even the management fees were collected by Aunt Liu on his behalf.

The money would be automatically deposited into the bank account he had set as his business account.

Walking down the street, he even entertained the thought of starting a business.

But he quickly dismissed it.

Without intelligence, he was no different from an ordinary person.

So many first-generation entrepreneurs were heavily in debt, and even someone with capital like Mr. Li had been reduced to cutting his losses to survive.

Now was not the time for him to start a business.

Not wanting to go back to his rented room, Zhao Jian planned to go to the hospital to visit Zhang Tao.

This Good Older Sister hadn't sent a single text or made a phone call since she broke her leg.

Had the fracture migrated to her hands?

Arriving at the hospital, he found Zhang Tao scrolling through her phone out of boredom in the ward.

Her mother saw Zhao Jian and greeted him with a smile:

"Little Zhao is here! Come in, sit down. You two chat, I'm going to buy her some lunch."

It was already afternoon.

Zhao Jian had specifically eaten before coming.

"Here, sit here." Zhang Tao waited until her mother left the ward before patting the edge of the bed with a smile.

Zhao Jian didn't stand on ceremony and sat right down.

He naturally took her hand.

Neither of them spoke.

Zhang Tao didn't speak either; the two communicated with their eyes.

The ambiguous atmosphere gradually intensified as time passed.

Just as Zhao Jian planned to kiss her hand first, then her lips, and then touch her leg after the kiss...

The ringing of a phone interrupted his plan.

It was Zhang Tao's phone.

She pulled her hand back and gave Zhao Jian a 'don't talk' look.

She answered.

"Hello, Xiao Zhang, how is your body doing?" The voice on the phone didn't sound old. Being able to call her 'Xiao Zhang' indicated they were in management at Tianxuan Animation.

As expected.

Zhang Tao replied sweetly, "Thank you for your concern, Manager Li. I'll be out of the hospital in a few days."

"Call me Sister Li in private."

"You have no idea, these past few days without you helping to handle the work have been a nightmare. The one Tianxuan sent to replace you is incredibly stupid. Anyway, get some good rest and return to work as soon as possible."

The phone was on speaker.

Zhao Jian heard it clearly.

He looked at his Good Older Sister with sympathy. It takes a hundred days for bones and tendons to heal, yet she had to go back to work after only a few days.

Poor kid.

Zhang Tao put her hand back near Zhao Jian, her eyes full of expectation.

But Zhao Jian's mind was filled with the inconvenience of her going to work on crutches, and he didn't notice the expectant little hand.

"Cough! Cough!" She coughed twice on purpose, trying to get his attention.

It certainly got his attention.

Zhao Jian hurriedly stood up and patted her back gently, asking with a face full of concern:

"What's wrong? Did you choke on your own drool from looking at a handsome guy?"

"I did not!"

Zhang Tao was so annoyed she wanted to sit up.

But her broken leg was in a cast and suspended from the hospital bed; she couldn't get up.

Fortunately, Zhao Jian soon took her hand.

In an instant, all her irritation vanished.

By the time he left the hospital, it was already evening.

Until he walked out of the hospital gates, he didn't see Zhang Tao's mother return.

However, he was certain she was nearby.

On the way back, Zhao Jian wanted to stop by the Vegetable Market.

But just as he got off the bus, two Police Officers approached him.

"Waiting for me?" Zhao Jian looked at the pair, one old and one young.

They were familiar faces; he had seen them at the Mood Restaurant.

As before, the older officer spoke while the younger one opened a notebook to record.

"Yes, we saw you get on the bus through surveillance and came to wait for you at this stop ahead of time."

Saying this, he took out a Courageous Act application form.

"There are two things we need you for today. Captain Song from our station knows you provided important clues twice, which played a huge role in the capture of Xu Chen. He wants to apply for the title of 'Courageous Citizen' for you. Please fill out this form."

Taking the form.

Zhao Jian didn't look at it closely. He asked calmly, "And the other thing?"

"We received a report regarding theft, infringement of personal privacy, and infringement of personal reputation. Based on the clues, the victim has identified you as a suspect. We need you to come back with us."

Fearing Zhao Jian might worry, the older Police Officer added, "It's just to have you both sit down and clear things up. It's not a big deal."

He followed them back to the police station.

This was the first time in Zhao Jian's life he had been to one.

He was led into an office. The sign on the door said 'Conference'.

There were already three people inside.

The Elder Sister who picked up bottles whom he'd met this morning, and the female classmate who hadn't paid at the class reunion with Yao Xiaohui.

As well as a young policewoman.

"Xiao Wu, you can head out for now. The two of us will handle it here."

The young policewoman agreed and got up to leave.

"Zhao Jian! You bastard, you stole my phone and then posted the contents! You want to ruin me? I won't let you get away with it!" the unnamed female classmate shouted, her eyes wide with rage.

She looked at Zhao Jian as if he were her mortal enemy.

"Please stay calm! Sit down and let's talk slowly." The older Police Officer poured a cup of hot water and motioned for everyone to sit.

Zhao Jian didn't say anything.

He still didn't know what was going on.

"Lü Lianhua, first tell us about how you lost your phone, the evidence pointing to the suspect, and your losses and demands."

So this classmate was named Lü Lianhua.

As she told her story, Zhao Jian got a general outline of the event.

This woman lost her phone, which contained important data.

The person who found it posted the data to the 91 Platform and threw the phone into the water.

The Elder Sister found the phone and hadn't changed the SIM card. Lü Lianhua tried calling it, and the Elder Sister answered.

After being badgered relentlessly, the Elder Sister had no choice but to give up Zhao Jian.

Now this woman suspected that Zhao Jian had stolen her phone, posted the short videos inside, and then tossed the phone.

"With an imagination like that, you should be writing novels." Zhao Jian was completely speechless after hearing the whole thing.

"Zhao Jian, don't even think about denying it! It's you, it has to be you!" Lü Lianhua was quick to snap.

She showed signs of starting a scene.

"Young lady, I can testify that this phone was truly fished out by accident. This Young man isn't that kind of person."

The Elder Sister wasn't a shrew, but she had seen them before.

She knew she had to try her best to explain now.

Otherwise, once Lü Lianhua started rolling on the floor, talking wouldn't do any good.

Though talking didn't seem to be helping much now either.

Lü Lianhua yelled fiercely, "You two are in this together! He steals, you dump it—you're a gang persecuting me!"

She moved to stand up as she spoke.

The older Police Officer frowned and advised, "Victim, please sit down first and wait for us to clarify things."

But Lü Lianhua wouldn't listen.

She acted as if she were going mad:

"You police, hurry up and sentence him! Put him in jail! I've been ruined by them!"

Zhao Jian looked at the hysterical woman.

He felt strangely curious: Just what kind of video was it that could make her this angry?

Could it be a recording of some dark history from her childhood?
