93: Chapter 93 Car Delivery
To film a serious movie, you need to hire big-name actors. You also have to establish connections for distribution channels.
Zhao Jian has money, but he only wants to do a one-off deal.
The initial expenses for social networking are the highest. Even if he threw all one hundred million in profits into it, it might not be enough. Wouldn't that be working for nothing?
He decided to follow the system's prompt and film short dramas.
Short dramas earn less, but the costs are also low. Afterward, he could sell the usage rights for the copyright and make another bundle. Perfect!
Over one million couldn't be paid through the backend. It could only count as an expression of intent to cooperate, used to lock in the script sale. The actual signing would still require signing in person and transferring the funds.
Zhao Jian went out to eat, filled his stomach, and hit the road. The cooperation signing was in Kyoto. As it happened, his sports car was also in Kyoto.
Originally, he didn't have much in savings, so he planned to pick up the car later. Besides, he couldn't drive it without a driver's license anyway. This time, he could find a Designated driver to bring the car back.
There was no need to spend money on a Designated driver. He thought of Zhang Tao immediately, but Good Older Sister's injury hadn't healed yet. She wasn't suitable for driving. Lest they both end up wiped out on the road.
At times like this, he thought of Su Wanyin. She seemed to know how to drive. He called that woman.
Su Wanyin was pleasantly surprised. She asked with a hint of nervousness and joy: "Did you miss me?"
"No, I'm short a driver. Do you have time?"
It was Sunday, so technically she shouldn't be working. "Yes, yes, yes! I'm coming right now."
Although he hadn't missed her, which made Su Wanyin a bit disappointed, the fact that he thought of her when he needed help meant that she was in Zhao Jian's heart!
Having solved the driver problem, Zhao Jian calmly headed to the train station. The platform was built beautifully, but unfortunately, the price wasn't beautiful. Even more unfortunately, the first-class seats were sold out.
After meeting up at the train station ticket office, Su Wanyin asked with a charming smile: "Where is the car?"
Can't you check the time yourself? What a lazy woman. "If it's not delayed, it will be here in twenty minutes."
High-speed trains usually aren't delayed. They waited at the entrance for ten minutes. It was time to go in early to wait for ticket inspection. Zhao Jian said: "Did you bring your ID card? Let's go in."
Su Wanyin did bring her ID card. She just couldn't understand what kind of car Zhao Jian bought that was so impressive, having a train transport it just for him. Could it be an armored vehicle?
Filled with curiosity, she followed behind Zhao Jian through security. Then she saw him walk straight toward the ticket gate. By this time, she felt something was wrong.
Freight usually doesn't go onto the platform; they have separate unloading platforms. Not until she boarded the train and sat in the not-so-spacious seat did Su Wanyin ask softly: "This is the car you bought? I'm going to be your driver?"
"You really know how to joke. Why would I buy this? We don't have a railway at home." Zhao Jian touched her forehead. No fever. It seemed she was having intermittent bouts of stupidity.
"Then why did you say you were short a driver?" Su Wanyin blinked her bewildered eyes.
"The car is in Kyoto. Go help me drive it back."
"Oh." She understood. The distance wasn't far. Two hours later, Zhao Jian had already finished signing the contract and obtained the exclusive adaptation rights.
And Su Wanyin was waiting at the company entrance driving the lamborghini.
"Handsome, need a ride? Sister will take you for a spin." Seeing Zhao Jian walk over, she decided to play around and pretended to be a rich woman.
"License plate ends in 1989, driver, please turn on the heat." Zhao Jian didn't play along with her act.
Being treated like a ride-hailing driver, Su Wanyin huffed lightly. She wasn't angry. It was just a joke to pass the time.
The lamborghini was indeed very fast, taking only one hour to return from Kyoto. It even needed to refuel twice. Its only drawback was that the faster it ran, the more fuel it consumed.
Zhao Jian didn't care; with financial freedom, he didn't care about this little bit of fuel money. "Let's go to Joyful Sea World, I'll treat you to a meal."
Upon entering Xiong City, he saw that it was already past noon. It wouldn't be right to let Su Wanyin be his driver for nothing. He would treat her to a meal as a reward.
However, the woman sitting in the driver's seat smiled charmingly and said: "I don't want to go there, it's uncomfortable. Let's go eat some donkey meat flatbread and lamb soup instead?"
So, just a small roadside eatery. "Fine, I'll listen to you."
Although he didn't know if she really felt pressured or just wanted to save him money, there was no need to refuse. Zhao Jian himself quite liked eating at street stalls. It was simple.
As for hygiene, in reality, large restaurants might not necessarily be that clean either. The only difference is that you can see into the kitchen of a small eatery at a glance, while you aren't allowed into the kitchens of large restaurants. Not being able to see is even more worrisome.
They parked the car in the parking lot and walked to a nearby small eatery. Zhao Jian didn't look at the name, only seeing a little donkey logo. In his memory, this was the standard sign for a donkey meat flatbread shop. As expected.
"What would you two like to eat? We have donkey meat flatbread, beef covered bread, one-bowl fragrant ramen, cold dishes, pig head meat, lamb offal soup, and tomato and egg soup. For snacks, we have french fries and shrimp chips."
There were no waiters. There was only the owner and a woman in the shop. It was likely a family-owned business. At this moment, there were only two tables of guests. It was past mealtime, and this wasn't a particularly bustling area. Their main business was fast-food oriented. It was normal for there to be few people. After all, a few flatbreads could be eaten quickly, so there was no need to sit around idly.
"Give us 8 flatbreads, two bowls of lamb soup, and one order of french fries." After ordering, Zhao Jian found a seat and sat down. He no longer held any hope for the craftsmanship in this shop. The menu was too miscellaneous, touching on everything. This meant that nothing was done particularly well or professionally enough. They could only rely on having a wide variety to compensate.
The flatbreads came the fastest, in a few minutes. They were long strips, with meat, green peppers, and cilantro mixed inside. Warm. These were pre-made flatbreads; if it were a seasoned foodie, they probably wouldn't like them much. But Zhao Jian didn't care; in the past, he could even eat steamed buns dry after they had gone hard. He had long since honed his sense of taste to be not that sensitive.
Su Wanyin ate in small bites. Although she didn't show it, she probably didn't like it. She noticed Zhao Jian looking at her. "You, what are you looking at me for? What's wrong?" She wiped the corners of her mouth, thinking some residue was stuck to her face.
"Not to your taste? Let's change shops." "It's okay, let's just stay here."
Su Wanyin didn't think it tasted bad. The reason she chewed in small bites was simply because it looked ladylike. These past few years, she had struggled with money for school, and after she started working, she had to give a portion of her money to her family. The remainder had to be used to maintain a relative level of decency, and expenses were not small. Naturally, she couldn't be too particular about food. Her taste, like Zhao Jian's, had long been tempered to accept most food quite well.
Since Su Wanyin didn't mind, Zhao Jian dismissed the idea of changing places. When the french fries and lamb soup arrived, he tasted them respectively. The fries were okay, but the lamb soup was too bland. However, it was just right for Su Wanyin.
The two of them finished eating, paid the bill, and drove the car back to the apartment complex. With the intention of being polite, Zhao Jian invited her: "Want to come up and sit for a while? You haven't been to my place yet, right?"
"Okay!" Su Wanyin blushed inexplicably. He didn't know what she was overthinking again.
Entering the room, Zhao Jian went to the kitchen to see if he could find any fruit. But he had never bought any, so naturally, there wasn't any. Fortunately, Zhang Tao had brought him some drinks, so he wouldn't come out empty-handed.
