138: How can I bear the love, and it is hard to break it

Chu Jiang did not strike toward Ye Qingwan.

The Mountain Sea Suppressing Demon Seal in his hand erupted with holy radiance, growing increasingly intense, enveloping Ye Qingwan within it.

The power of purification surged out from the Mountain Sea Suppressing Demon Seal.

The vengeful spirits on the Hundred Life Acupoints began to stir restlessly, as if sensing the end, resisting frantically.

But this resistance appeared exceptionally feeble against the Mountain Sea Suppressing Demon Seal.

As time passed.

Those vengeful spirits were completely purified, returning to their normal forms.

The Demonic Qi on her body was also entirely eradicated.

Chu Jiang's Mountain Sea Suppressing Demon Seal dissipated.

This was the second great function of the Mountain Sea Suppressing Demon Seal: to purify evil spirits.

It could kill, and it could save.

Now it was finally fulfilling its proper role.

Ye Qingwan's eyes gradually cleared; although her face remained aged, a change had come over her entire being.

"Husband!"

She looked toward Ghost Moon at her side and said in a hoarse voice.

"Wan'er!"

After several hundred years, hearing that familiar yet strange voice again, Ghost Moon stood frozen in place.

His face was filled with disbelief.

Several hundred years ago, she was still young.

Several hundred years later, she was already aged.

The events that transpired during that time had changed too many people.

A thousand emotions surged in his heart.

He had thought that he would never see the day his wife recovered in this lifetime; now, it was as if the dream he had pursued for hundreds of years had been fulfilled.

"These few hundred years have been hard on you; you must be very tired!" Ye Qingwan said gently.

Ghost Moon shook his head to indicate he was not tired.

She was still as gentle as ever.

Considerate.

Not changed at all.

As Ye Qingwan spoke, blood kept coughing from the corners of her mouth.

She nearly fainted.

"Wan'er, what is wrong with you? Don't scare me!" For the first time in hundreds of years, Ghost Moon was this panicked, helpless, and fearful; he and she had only exchanged a few words.

Chu Jiang looked at Ye Qingwan.

Although he had dispelled the evil spirits, Ye Qingwan's life had reached its end; she had only a few hours left to live.

Ye Qingwan had been able to live this long due to those vengeful spirits and the evil Demonic Qi on her body.

Now that the evil spirits were completely removed.

Coupled with her already heavily injured body, her Lifespan had reached its end.

"Fellow Daoist, you possess great Divine Ability; can you please save her? Even if it is only for one hour, just so I can speak with her."

Ghost Moon knelt and pleaded; he had never knelt to anyone in his life, but for the sake of his wife's life, what did one kneeling matter?

"Husband, do not make things difficult for this gentleman. Life and death are fated; everyone has their own destiny."

"My life has reached its time to end. After hundreds of years of memories, I am tired and do not wish to continue."

"Furthermore, I have killed so many innocent people; I have no face to continue living. I ask that you send me on my way later, sir."

Blood spilled from the corners of Ye Qingwan's mouth as she emitted a voice trembling without end:

"Wan'er bows in gratitude to you, sir!"

Chu Jiang nodded, not refusing.

"Wan'er..."

Ghost Moon could not speak, nor could he find a way to persuade her otherwise.

Although these people were not killed by Wan'er intentionally, but by the influence of the evil spirits, they had indeed died by her hand.

A full several thousand human lives.

Too heavy.

Given Wan'er's temperament, she could never bear this burden.

"Fellow Daoist, words cannot express my gratitude for this great favor. This is the item I promised you. In the final moment of my life, allowing me to see Wan'er again—such kindness can only be repaid in the next life."

Ghost Moon handed the "Myriad Refining Technique" and the "Demonic Scripture" to Chu Jiang.

Chu Jiang could have originally killed Ye Qingwan directly just moments ago; at that time, she was indeed an evil being.

But he did not.

Instead, he utilized his Divine Ability to restore his wife, allowing him to fulfill a fantasy that had been impossible.

If the wife is restored, one can die at dusk without regret.

Ghost Moon's soul left Liu Guangwu's body and attached to his original Physical Body.

His soul had been separated from his Physical Body for too long; forcing a reintegration meant he would not survive for long.

But he did not care.

He only wanted to accompany his wife in these final moments and finish the last leg of their journey together.

But.

Nearby, Ye Wuyou laughed in despair, unable to accept this reality, her Qi and blood in turmoil.

She fell into madness.

Her entire life had been for the sake of saving her mother.

Killing Ghost Moon.

These two major goals had run through her entire life.

Now, her mother was about to die and step into the Yellow Springs.

She had even returned to normal.

Was she still the mother she was familiar with?

Or rather.

Was her mother an evil mother.

Or a normal mother.

She could not tell.

She was in too much pain.

What was most unacceptable was the sight of her mother and Ghost Moon being intimate; her heart was stinging.

Ghost Moon was the person she hated most, the person she wanted to kill most; he was the culprit of everything, the beast who had placed a Seal on her mother.

Both major goals, not one had been realized.

Why had the ending turned out like this?

It felt as if her entire life was a joke.

Toyed with in the palm of fate, wantonly trampled upon.

Ye Wuyou had already been beaten by Chu Jiang until only half her life remained; now, she was trapped in madness, her breath chaotic.

"Screw you, Heavens! I am Ye Wuyou, no one can dictate my destiny!"

She roared up at the sky, her Qi and blood erupting, exhausting her last breath of Origin Qi.

Issuing her contempt for fate.

Then.

She ceased breathing and died.

"Alas, poor child, your suffering, Mother understands; this is all destiny. Why be so cruel to a child?" As a mother, Ye Qingwan naturally understood Ye Wuyou's struggle in the final moments of life, which had ultimately only turned into a roar of rage.

"Sir, please bury her with us!" Ye Qingwan said, "Just bury her here in this Yan Yang Earth Cave; her mother is here..."

Ye Qingwan spoke with difficulty.

"Very well!"

Chu Jiang responded simply.

"Thank you, sir!"

After Ye Qingwan thanked him, she chatted with Ghost Moon.

Chatting about the past.

Chatting about some joyful things.

Chatting about the vows of love they once made.

Chatting about the future.

Almost forgot.

The two of them had no future, so they would chat about the present.

Ghost Moon was very happy.

This was the happiest day he had experienced in hundreds of years; although it was extremely brief, for the sake of this moment, let alone a few hundred years.

Even a thousand years.

He was willing to wait.

Time passed quietly.

The lives of the two also reached their end, and even speaking was extremely difficult.

"Sir, I... I have changed my mind!"

Ye Qingwan spoke with effort.

"Do you wish to extend your life?"

Chu Jiang said, seemingly not feeling surprised.

"No... let Wuyou be buried with us after all. It is rather hot here, and too lonely..."

"You can bury her beside my and Ghost Moon's graves, just a bit further away is fine. That way, if she wants to come see me..."

"She can... come anytime, if she wants to!"

After Ye Qingwan finished this sentence, she could no longer speak.

"Very well!"

A trace of surprise flashed in Chu Jiang's eyes, but he still replied with only one word.

Even though Ye Qingwan was already unable to speak.

But before dying, her body trembled, and her lips moved slightly twice.

Seemingly saying something.

Chu Jiang knew.

That was:

"Thank you!"

Chu Jiang looked at the three corpses.

Silent and speechless.

Following their last wishes, Chu Jiang buried the three of them in the Thirteen Sacred Houses.

Ye Qingwan had said that it was their home from three hundred years ago.

Just as the saying goes.

How can one bear such feelings.

When love is so hard to sever.

Green bamboo weeps dew in the cool night wind, ancient temple bells break the heart. Who could have foreseen evil in marriage, a single thread of love transformed into a formation's gleam.

Peach blossoms once laughed at the spring breeze, today fallen leaves are heavy with regret. Love and hate intertwined, hard to untangle; one wrong step leads to a path of enmity.

Demonic clouds disperse, the moon is full again, a kind face gradually recovers, tears fill the lapels. Life and death cling together, love is hard to sever; the dream of Reincarnation breaks, hatred remains hard to quell.

A foolish girl demands of the Heavens, the wishes of a lifetime turn to dust. Heaven's will toys with people, turning to a long sigh; three souls return to be buried together for a long time.

The Ghost Moon arc is about to end; next, I will clean up those few grasshoppers in the Ghost Moon Cave and then leave, starting the path to sweep across the Yunzhou Thirteen Prefectures.

The Ghost Moon Cave dungeon took up quite a lot of space, nearly twenty chapters; I wonder how you, the reader lords, feel about it.

Regardless, this author has done his best.

Leave your footprints behind.
