44: Final arrangements

The next day.

Chu Jiang called for Liu Guangwu and Ma Han.

"I am about to set off for the Yunzhou Demon Suppression Division, and I will temporarily leave White Stone County in the hands of you two."

"These are the Thunder Fire Beads I have condensed. One can severely injure a Late Stage Diamond realm expert. Take one each to handle any emergencies."

Chu Jiang looked at the two of them quietly. It took three days to condense one Thunder Fire Bead. He had prepared them beforehand, just waiting for the right moment to give them to the two men.

"My Lord, is it so urgent?"

"Should we, the brothers, host a banquet for you?"

Ma Han knew that with Chu Jiang's strength, leaving White Stone County was only a matter of time, but he hadn't expected it to happen so soon.

Their strength could no longer keep up with Chu Jiang's pace, so they naturally could not follow him.

"Indeed, let the brothers see you off!"

Liu Guangwu said. Since Chu Jiang began to change, White Stone County had transformed; everything was thriving and moving in a positive direction.

His opinion of him had gradually changed.

"No need. Once I have finished briefing you both, I will depart immediately."

It was not only for his own reasons; the Yunzhou Demon Suppression Division headquarters had also sent a message urging him to head to the headquarters as soon as possible, as there were important matters to discuss.

Therefore, the sooner, the better.

"Ma Han, stay behind."

Chu Jiang said.

Liu Guangwu withdrew. Ma Han had followed Chu Jiang for many years and naturally could not be compared to him, a latecomer, so he felt no displeasure.

"How many years have you followed me?"

Chu Jiang turned his back and asked casually.

"My Lord, this subordinate began following you eight years ago; it has been eight years and three months to this day," Ma Han replied solemnly, remembering the time very clearly.

Chu Jiang smiled and said, "You have been with me the longest. Now that I am leaving, I naturally will not forget to make arrangements for you."

Compared to a person's talent, he valued loyalty more.

Without a doubt, Ma Han was loyal.

"This is a Marrow Cleansing Pill, which can cleanse the marrow and cut the body for the second time at the tenth level of the Physical Body realm, enhancing your martial arts talent."

"These are two Thunder Fire Beads, which I condensed extra; take them for self-preservation."

"These are two bottles of Body Tempering Liquid, which can accelerate the progress of your Physical Body cultivation. If you have any left after using them, you can give them to Liu Guangwu."

Chu Jiang took out a treasure box containing two Medicinal Pills and two bottles of Body Tempering Liquid.

"My Lord, you... this is too valuable!"

When the items in the treasure box were handed to Ma Han, he was completely stunned. He stared blankly at the Medicinal Pill bottles, which exuded a strange fragrance, his mind momentarily going blank.

In an instant, an indescribable emotion surged into his heart like a tide, his throat feeling as if it were choked by something, unable to utter a single word.

"Take it. You have followed me for so many years; this is what you deserve." A faint smile hung on Chu Jiang's face as he patted Ma Han on the shoulder, showing his approval and trust.

Ma Han's heart was filled with gratitude. He knew that for all these years, he had been silently following Chu Jiang, doing his best to complete every task.

However, he had never expected to receive such a precious reward.

Afterwards, Chu Jiang gave Ma Han some follow-up instructions, asking him to look after Su Yaner at his residence during the time he was away.

This trip to Yunzhou was not fully settled, and it was not yet appropriate to bring her along.

Immediately, he sped off toward the Yunzhou headquarters.

He had changed into the Qilin uniform unique to the Demon Suppression Guard. He rode at full speed, and no one dared to block his path wherever he passed.

...

Outside the Yunzhou Demon Suppression Division.

"This is the headquarters; it is truly grand."

A complex of ancient-style buildings came into view.

Chu Jiang sighed in admiration and entered the Demon Suppression Division.

"Yo, another newcomer today. This makes the third batch, right!"

"I heard there is a water monster causing trouble in the Canglong River, and the Commanders are discussing who should go to resolve it."

"That water monster has extraordinary strength and can only be resolved by a Centurion. These newcomers have no chance; going there would just be throwing their lives away."

Many Demon Suppression Guards were talking in secret.

This unknown water monster had already overturned more than a dozen large ships. Currently, the Canglong River was temporarily suspended, waiting for the Demon Suppression Guards to resolve the matter.

"You have finally arrived. Come with me first."

A voice came from afar.

The person approaching had an extraordinary Aura, his black hair tied high and moving with the wind. Every step carried a steady and resolute Aura.

"Demon Suppression Division Flag Chief, Chu Jiang, greets Centurion Qin!"

Chu Jiang bowed to Centurion Qin. This was the person who had contacted him and notified him to head to the Yunzhou Demon Suppression Division; he could be considered his direct superior.

"Who is this person, to actually have Centurion Qin welcome him in person? Since when did our Yunzhou Demon Suppression Division have such a figure?"

Some Demon Suppression Guards who had been away on missions for a long time did not recognize Chu Jiang upon their return.

"This guy just joined the Demon Suppression Division not long ago and has already done many astonishing things. We are only seeing the Immortal Master today."

The discussion started again.

...

Demon Suppression Division, Monster Reflection Hall.

Chu Jiang stepped into the great hall and looked up at the dome. A huge mirror was emitting streams of mysterious light, as if it could see through all the falsehoods in the world.

"This is our Demon Suppression Division's Monster Reflection Mirror; it allows no monster to hide."

"Any Demon Suppression Guard who needs to be specially cultivated must pass under the Monster Reflection Mirror."

Centurion Qin said in a deep voice. As for why not reflect all Demon Suppression Guards, it was mainly because this Monster Reflection Mirror consumed a large amount of energy every time it operated, so every bit saved was better.

Chu Jiang understood that this was a necessary procedure.

In "Five Thousand Years of the Demon Suppression Division", there were several cases where a Genius whom the Human Race had painstakingly cultivated turned out to be a monster.

Moreover, using the Monster Reflection Mirror right after joining meant that the Demon Suppression Division valued him, and it seemed they intended to focus on cultivating him.

This was a good thing.

Chu Jiang and the others stood under the Monster Reflection Mirror, and the mirror swept over them with a beam of Holy Light.

He felt a strange energy sweep over their bodies and felt a warm current surge through.

"Alright, no problem!"

Centurion Qin looked at the Monster Reflection Mirror. The Holy Light was calm as water, and he felt relieved.

Chu Jiang left the great hall. His eyes flashed as he said, "Centurion Qin, I am currently a commander without troops; when will you arrange some men for me?"

As a Flag Chief, he had no one under him; he had an official position but could not mobilize a single soldier.

Centurion Qin heard this and shook his head with a bitter smile. "You kid are really pushing my buttons. Alright, I will arrange manpower for you as soon as possible."

"Let's not talk about this anymore. Commander Zuo is waiting for you in the Demon Suppression Hall."

Centurion Qin quickly changed the subject, not wanting to say more on this issue, as if this question were a thorn that made him uncomfortable.

The Demon Suppression Division was truly short of people these days.

Back then, he had also been a commander without troops for several years before he managed to gather enough subordinates, half through distribution and half by recruiting them while completing missions.

Everyone had to walk this painful path.
