91: Chapter 91 Kshira's Request

Wu Xi walked in front along the streets of Rlyeh.

Cthylla followed three steps behind him.

"My father has been in a coma for a hundred years."

"A hundred years ago, he fought against other Ancient Gods," Cthylla continued. "They fought for three days and three nights. In the end, he won. He twisted off the heads of those Ancient Gods, one by one, and hung them on the gates of Rlyeh."

"But he was also severely injured." For the first time, there was a faint, imperceptible tremor in Cthylla's voice. "His body fell into a deep sleep, and his consciousness was lost."

Wu Xi finally stopped and looked at Cthylla.

"You're joking."

"What is Cthulhu? An Ancient God, a being that has lived for who knows how many billions of years. If even his consciousness can be lost, what can a mere Cultivator like me do to help you?"

"Or are you saying you think I'm tired of living and want to find an excuse to kill me here?"

"You can," Cthylla said. Her voice carried an unquestionable certainty.

"Because you and he share the same physical form."

"Your body." Cthylla's gaze slowly moved from the top of Wu Xi's head to the soles of his feet.

Her gaze felt tangible. Wherever it passed, Wu Xi's skin felt a pricking pain, like needles.

"Perfect," she said softly. "Even more perfect than my father's."

"Although my father's body is powerful, it is filled with chaos and distortion. That is the innate form of an Ancient God. It is a product of chaos."

"But your body."

Her fingertip stopped on Wu Xi's chest.

"Is the perfect combination of order and chaos."

"Within you, there is the Acquired order, and also the chaos of the Ancient Gods."

"I have tried many times," Cthylla withdrew her hand. "Myself, Dagon, and other Deep Ones. We have all tried to enter my father's Sea of Consciousness."

She shook her head. "But we all failed. Our forms are different from his. We could not find the way in."

"But you are different," she looked into Wu Xi's eyes.

"Your body shares the same Origin as his. Your consciousness can walk freely within his Sea of Consciousness."

"As long as you can find his consciousness and bring it back."

She paused. "I will give you what you want."

Wu Xi looked at her and smiled.

"What do I want?" he asked. "Do you know what I want?"

"Power," Cthylla said.

"Power sufficient for you to achieve a Breakthrough from your current Realm."

Wu Xi really needed to improve to face the current crisis; he was still far from a Breakthrough.

"In the process of searching for my father's consciousness," Cthylla's voice carried a deadly temptation, "you will absorb the energy he dissipates."

"That energy is the energy of an Ancient God. It is more than you could Cultivate in decades."

Wu Xi's breathing became heavy.

That was the energy of an Ancient God, the most powerful energy of the Origin in the Dreamlands. If he could truly absorb it, he would surely achieve a Breakthrough from the Evil Pill Realm, but the risk was also immense.

Entering the Sea of Consciousness of an Ancient God—if anything went wrong, he would be lost there forever, becoming a madman without consciousness.

Wu Xi was silent, his eyes flickering. A huge figure appeared behind him; it was Dagon.

"Are you persuading the Saint to awaken our Master?" Dagon spoke.

Cthylla nodded.

"Yes," she said. "His body is perfect. More perfect than any of us. Only he can enter my father's Sea of Consciousness."

Dagon watched for a long time, then took a step back, knelt on one knee, and faced Wu Xi.

He lowered his huge head. "It is indeed perfect."

"Now, do you believe it?" she asked.

Wu Xi took a deep breath. "I agree."

A glimmer of joy flashed in Cthylla's eyes. "Very well, follow me."

She turned and swam toward the depths of the palace. Her fish tail moved faster in the water.

Dagon stood up and followed behind her, and Wu Xi hesitated for a moment before following as well.

The interior of the palace was much larger than it appeared from the outside. The corridors wound and twisted like a labyrinth, with no end in sight.

The walls were covered with strange runes, which emitted a faint, eerie glow under the green light.

They were wriggling and twisting, as if alive. Wu Xi only took one glance, and his temples began to throb.

The world before him began to twist and spin, and the sound of countless people screaming simultaneously rang in his ears.

Wu Xi hurriedly looked away, circulating his cultivation to suppress the chaos in his mind. "Do not look at those runes."

Cthylla's voice came from the front. "Those are the words of my Master; Mortals will go mad if they look at them."

Wu Xi nodded and could only keep his head down, looking at his own feet.

Following Cthylla and Dagon, they walked forward. After about an hour, they finally arrived at the entrance of a great hall.

The hall's doors were made of some kind of black metal, and carved upon them were countless twisted monsters, baring their fangs and brandishing their claws.

As if they were about to pounce out from the doors, Cthylla reached out and pushed gently. The doors opened slowly, and an even more terrifying pressure surged out from the hall.

Like a tsunami, it crashed against Wu Xi, and his body jolted violently.

His legs trembled slightly, almost forcing him to kneel, and his heart pounded wildly.

The hall was ridiculously large, stretching beyond sight. The ceiling was too high to see, shrouding everything in an eerie atmosphere.

In the center of the hall was a towering throne, carved from some kind of black stone, covered with twisted patterns.

Those patterns were slowly wriggling, just like the runes on the walls.

A huge figure lay on the throne; it was Cthulhu. His body was much larger than Dagon's.

He was at least several dozen zhang tall. His head resembled a giant octopus, and his face was covered with countless thin tentacles that were slightly wriggling.

His body was covered with hard black scales, each as large as a millstone, and a pair of huge wings were folded behind his back.

He had his eyes closed and was in a deep sleep, yet even in his sleep, he radiated a suffocating pressure. It was the pressure of an Ancient God, an oppression from the depths of the Soul.

Wu Xi stood on the spot, unable to move; his body was no longer under his own control.

His mind was blank. All that remained was fear, pure, primal fear. This was the power of an Ancient God. Before such power, humans were as insignificant as ants, vulnerable to a single blow.

"This is the Throne of Slumber," Cthylla's voice rang in Wu Xi's ears. She walked to the throne and gently stroked Cthulhu's tentacles.

"Father," she said softly, her voice filled with deep sorrow. "I will definitely save you."

Dagon also walked to the throne, knelt on one knee, and lowered his huge head.

"My Master," he said respectfully. "We will definitely retrieve your consciousness and let you reign over the world once more."

Wu Xi stood on the spot, motionless. His heart was filled with complex emotions. There was fear, awe, and a glimmer of anticipation.

After a long time, Wu Xi slowly regained control of his body, took a few steps forward, and looked up at the sleeping Cthulhu.

Looking at his huge body, which was filled with chaos and distortion.

A crazy thought suddenly arose in his heart: What if I devoured his consciousness?

What if I made all his power my own? A glimmer of madness flashed in Wu Xi's eyes.

Cthylla turned around and looked at Wu Xi. "Are you ready?" she asked.

Wu Xi looked at her, then nodded. "I am ready."
