The messenger of God arrives
With just one sentence, the people around them immediately felt their scalps tingle.
An indescribable sense of destiny quietly emerged.
"So... our unintentional actions gave birth to an intelligent race similar to humans?"
Night Raid Widow Village asked in disbelief.
"Who knows?" My Cat Can Do Backflips chuckled, "Even a single flap of a butterfly's wings can stir up a storm in the future."
"The birth or extinction of a species requires many coincidental factors; perhaps we are one of them."
"Let's go. Since they need arrows and weapons to hunt, it means they, like humans tens of thousands of years ago, didn't develop in a larger, fiercer direction."
"Instead, they evolved brains far superior in intelligence to other creatures, and armed themselves with the wisdom of their brains."
Perhaps such a race could even become allies of the players.
They hadn't walked far before the group saw the territory of the Four-Armed Apes.
Houses made of stone and Wood, full of primitive charm, were scattered about, and in the distance, smoke seemed to curl upwards.
"#@%$!"
The scouting Four-Armed Ape was the first to spot Sorrowful Sword Elegy and the others, shouting loudly towards the interior of the tribe.
"#@%$!$"
A large group of Four-Armed Apes leaped out, each holding weapons like spears and forks.
The Four-Armed Ape standing on the outpost drew its bow and nocked an arrow; at the slightest unusual movement, arrows would rain down on Sorrowful Sword Elegy and the others.
It could only be said that these Four-Armed Apes were indeed a race evolved from Four-Armed Orangutans; each of them was incredibly burly.
Every male Four-Armed Ape was over two meters tall, and even the smallest female Four-Armed Ape was about 1.8 meters tall.
A large group of Four-Armed Apes stood before them, like an impenetrable wall.
"Are they looking for a fight?" Night Raid Widow Village asked, narrowing his eyes.
"No, they have no malice, only vigilance," My Cat Can Do Backflips said.
These Four-Armed Apes had solid muscles; purely in terms of strength, they could definitely match the level of a second-tier Transcendent Creature, and some exceptionally gifted ones could even rival a third-tier.
However, this group of Four-Armed Apes didn't seem to possess any powerful transcendent abilities. If a fight truly broke out, they definitely wouldn't be the ones at a disadvantage.
"Don't make a move yet, we'll act as the situation dictates," Sorrowful Sword Elegy told the others.
The Four-Armed Apes' monkey brew and smelting technology were things they needed; wiping them out wouldn't be good.
"%@..."
There was a commotion among the Four-Armed Apes; an old Four-Armed Ape with white fur and a female Four-Armed Ape covered in strange ornaments and with peculiar patterns painted on her face walked out.
After clearly seeing their appearances, Tower Flame was filled with excitement, "Divine Envoys?"
When Tower Flame spoke human language, his accent was a bit strange, and subconsciously, they didn't think these Four-Armed Apes could speak human language.
At first, the group thought Tower Flame was speaking a primitive language, until Tower Flame repeated it several times before they clearly heard the Four-Armed Ape say "Divine Envoys."
"Respected Divine Envoys, it is Tower Flame's honor to meet you. Tower Flame, priest of the Four-Armed Ape tribe."
Although the word order was a bit inverted, it didn't hinder their understanding.
Sorrowful Sword Elegy was a bit surprised, "How did you learn this language?"
Looking at the fanatically worshipping expressions of the surrounding Four-Armed Apes, human language shouldn't be their tribe's common language, and it seemed to hold a different meaning.
"This is the language of the gods," Tower Flame said devoutly, "The gods granted me a special privilege, allowing me the right to speak this language."
"Respected Divine Envoys, do the gods have new instructions?"
"Indeed," Sorrowful Sword Elegy said solemnly, "However, I cannot tell you the will of the gods just yet."
"We need to inspect your territory on behalf of the gods to determine if you are worthy of becoming the gods' dependents."
Night Raid Widow Village: ???
Your Dad Flies in the Sky: ??!
When did they become Divine Envoys!?
But looking at Sorrowful Sword Elegy's calm and confident demeanor, and Tower Flame's expression of not understanding but being impressed.
It seemed... it wasn't impossible!?
"Lord Divine Envoy, these are the walls we built with stones, which can defend against some Primeval Wolves and Flame-Tailed Jackals, but they can't stop the brute force of Stone-Armored Oxen and Unicorne Oxen. Sometimes, when we encounter powerful Tiger Beasts, they are also difficult to resist, so we arranged sentries."
"Oh, these were learned from those screaming Earth-Digging Rats; they feel very secure doing this."
Passing through the tribe's gate, they even saw some cultivated fields and livestock.
"Thanks to the generous guidance of the gods, we are able to fill our stomachs when hunting fails."
"A soft patch of soil can yield grain, and a pile of weeds every day can make new livestock grow in the bellies of these animals. Lord God is definitely the most intelligent being in this world."
Sorrowful Sword Elegy briefly scanned the area.
The fields were neatly planned, but the crops were planted without much order, with grain and medicinal herbs growing together.
The yield of grain was not high, but the medicinal herbs might be sufficient for emergencies for these Four-Armed Apes.
As for the livestock, they were all relatively docile, herbivorous creatures below the transcendent level of strength.
Although somewhat crude, signs of civilization could be seen everywhere.
"You are right," Sorrowful Sword Elegy always remembered his identity as a Divine Envoy, "Praise the gods."
Praise the gods?
This saying was incredibly novel to Tower Flame.
"Praise the gods," Tower Flame repeated.
"Actually, we also wanted to domesticate some Primeval Wolves. Although they are not large and their biting ability is very average, their sense of smell is excellent, allowing them to detect danger several kilometers away."
"But this is a bit difficult; their wildness is a big problem. We first have to ensure they won't bite our young, and then the young of these livestock..."
Soon, everyone arrived before a strangely shaped stone platform, surrounded by torches, exuding the atmosphere of a primitive tribal sacrifice.
"This is the Sacrificial Altar, a place to communicate with the gods, but we haven't received a response from the gods in a long time."
"That's because Lord God trusts you, and besides, hasn't He already sent us?"
Sorrowful Sword Elegy showed no sign of guilt for lying in the name of the gods.
"That's right, you are correct, Lord Divine Envoy."
"Come, see the history of the Four-Armed Ape tribe, and the blessings bestowed by the gods."
"Lord Divine Envoy, you will understand how much we worship Lord God; our worship for him surpasses the forest."
Sorrowful Sword Elegy looked at a large section of murals carved into the stone wall, murals that were more easily understood than oracle bone script, resembling children's scribbles:
The ancestors of the Four-Armed Apes lived in tall trees, feeding on wild fruits.
Until they discovered that by placing various wild fruits, seeds, and medicinal herbs in tree hollows, after a period of time, delicious wine could be brewed.
These sweet wines not only replaced food to help them survive seasons of food scarcity but also made their bodies stronger and allowed them to breed more resilient offspring.
These wines were like the milk gifted by Mother Nature, nourishing these creatures leaping among the trees, and at the same time, sowing the seeds of wisdom within them.
