513: I'm used to being poor!
"Holy crap! What's with those gunshots!? How can they even have silencers!"
"Seriously, man? Why are the people on the Central Control Bridge shooting so fast!"
"Run! Spread out the formation, don't bunch up! Otherwise, they're going to pick us off!"
"Wait! Where's Old Yang! Holy crap! How has Old Yang already been picked off and downed!"
...Within the Aerospace Forbidden Zone, above the Sandy Area.
The team that had respawned with Prison Boss had just heard gunshots from the Central Control Bridge and were planning to sneak from the Sandy Area toward the Central Control Building.
At this early stage of the match, there was only one situation that would explain gunshots from the Central Control Bridge.
That was if the team that spawned at Yuan Tong didn't swipe their Yuan Tong card, but chose instead to cross the bridge directly via the zipline below, and the team that spawned at Central Control just happened to choose to hunt people at the start, leading to the two teams clashing under the bridge.
Logically speaking, with the two teams fighting so intensely at the start, there was a high probability that none of the resource points in the Central Control Building had been touched, and even the Large Safe hadn't been opened; as long as they got inside, they'd be feasting fatly.
However, that was only the logic of it.
The team that spawned with Prison Boss never expected the battle over there to end so quickly!
Luo Xiu and his team didn't even bother to loot the bodies; after killing everyone, they didn't even care to look at the enemy's equipment. They had already taken positions on the Central Control Bridge, LMGs in hand, waiting to pick people off.
Da-da-da—da-da—!
The three on the Central Control Bridge fired their LMGs continuously, instantly focusing fire to melt one person. The remaining two in the Sandy Area hadn't even covered a third of the distance; they couldn't run forward or back, and the nearest cover in any direction was quite a distance away.
"Damn! If I'd known, we would've rushed Central Control right at the start!"
One of them said with great regret.
In fact, if they had run toward the Central Control Building right at the start, they would have had a complete chance to rush into the building before Luo Xiu's trio got on the bridge.
However, being habitually cautious, they chose to stay put and listen for info at the start, only acting after they heard something.
It was those few short seconds of delay that prevented them from even entering the Central Control Building, and they were about to perish in the Sandy Area.
"It's over! It's over! We're dead for sure this time!"
"Save—save me—!"
"Crap! Old Yang, you're not dead yet!"
A teammate heard the cry for help from behind and turned to look. He saw that the Operator who had been picked off first hadn't been extracted, but had his legs broken by the LMG and was currently squirming on the ground.
"Save—save me—"
"Crap! Stop blabbering and just die already! None of us are going to make it, and you're still thinking about us saving you? Save you at the Zero Dam! How are we supposed to save you?"
"Wait! Why aren't we dead yet after all this time? Did the team on the Central Control Bridge find their conscience?"
"They wouldn't be messing with us on purpose, would they?"
The two in the Sandy Area looked toward the Central Control Bridge.
Although the distance was too far for them to see the specifics—this wasn't a game, after all, and every Operator's vision was limited by factors like focus and eyesight.
However, since the opponents were using LMGs with high-magnification scopes, there was one way to tell if they were aiming directly at them.
That was the lens flare from the scope.
Even if the opponents had intentionally installed a sunshade on their high-mag scopes when modding their guns, that intense reflection wouldn't be completely hidden. In fact, for some special high-mag scopes, installing a sunshade was the same as not having one; the reflection was just as bright.
Yet now, as the two in the Sandy Area looked toward the Central Control Bridge, they didn't see any lens flare from scopes.
The two realized that the sound of silenced bullets that had been ringing in their ears had also returned to silence.
"What's the situation?"
"Save—save me—I feel like I'm not going to make it, I can't get my Surgical Kit out!"
"Quiet, quiet! I'm coming over now!"
Though confused about the situation on the Central Control Bridge, one person in the team still walked toward the teammate whose legs had been broken at the start. He pulled a bottle of green-quality Painkillers from his pocket and shook out a pill for him to swallow.
"I told you to take Painkillers at the start, why did you insist on saving that little bit of money! A bottle of Painkillers is less than ten thousand, even purple-quality ones are only thirty or forty thousand!"
"Sigh, I'm used to being poor, I really couldn't bear to spend it!"
"I'm really done with you..."
In the next second, the Operator who had been squirming like a maggot on the ground began to recover, then slowly stood up with his teammate's support.
The effects of the Painkillers produced in the Forbidden Zone were just that powerful; they could make even someone with fractured limbs stand up and continue fighting.
"The gunshots don't seem to be aimed at us anymore. Could it be that the people from the Dormitory Area have arrived?"
Taking advantage of their improved state, the three quickly retreated behind a wall to avoid the line of fire from the Central Control Bridge, then analyzed the situation on the field.
At this time, occasional silenced gunshots could still be heard from the Central Control Bridge.
However, the direction of their attack was no longer toward the Sandy Area, but was instead focused on the team coming out of the dormitory building.
"The people from the dormitory building seem to have come out from over there. Good chance! Let's go!"
Noticing this, Old Yang, the Operator who had just saved his own life, rushed out of cover. Using the effects of the Painkillers, he wanted to take the opportunity to run toward the Central Control Building.
"Crap! Can you be a bit more steady?"
"The bold feast while the timid starve! Don't blame me if I open the Large Safe myself in a bit!"
With that, Old Yang began sprinting toward the Central Control Building.
Da-da-da-da-da-da-da!
This time, however, the LMG bullets didn't miss; they blew his head clean off.
"Eh! Old Yang, how did you die?"
"I told you it wouldn't be that simple!"
