Chapter 128: Lucas "It’s time!"

Lucain heard this voice appear in his mind and he looked towards the guy at the side who gave him a short nod.

The sounds of footsteps reached his ears just after as a couple of armed guards arrived in front of his cell.

"Careful!"

One of them said, as they all aimed their weapons at Lucian within the cell.

BANG!

The cell was opened and Lucian was dragged to his feet.

’I guess it’s my time to get experimented on!’

He concealed the smile that was fighting its way to his face.

His eyes darkened at the rough hands of the guards pushing him forward.

’Now I’m being rough handled by rats!’

Similar thoughts ran through his mind as his eyes observed the dark space he had entered. Before he knew it, a small bag was draped over his head leaving him blind to his surrounded and he faked a little resistance to make his whole act seem more realistic.

’3rd left, 5th right....!’

Lucain noted, mentally mapping out the paths they had taken so far.

He had long since undid the fake restrictions on him and could easily sense his surrounding and how many living beings were around him, without releasing any bit of his aura.

STOMP!

"Requesting Entry, Doc!"

A scruffy voice came from the man next to him, and a reply came from a speaker above the door in front of them.

"One of you can bring him in!"

Lucian identified the voice as that of the man which E-6 had also addressed as Doc earlier.

’He did mention that he would like to work on my body!’

It seemed like this Doctor was a of a high position in the facility, judging from the way he carried himself and the feeling of fear mixed with respect present in the voices of all those who had address him till now.

With that reply, the footsteps of the remaining men faded away and the man on his left who spoke earlier stepped into the room, his hand squeezing on Lucian’s shoulder.

"Take him to the table and take off the mask too. You can leave E6!"

"Yes, Doc!"

The doc said, making him aware of the presence of E6, the second pair of eyes he had sensed when he stepped in.

’Did he snitch on me?’

He wondered, but the aura around E6 was calm and stable.

’I don’t think so. It’d be impossible for anyone to undo my flame in his brain without killing me!’

Despite the surprises he had encountered so far, Lucian was still confident in the capabilities of his awakened ability.

’It’s just the both of us!’

Lucian thought, after the man who brought him here walked out the door. He couldn’t feel the presence of anyone around except the two of them.

"Won’t you open your eyes?"

The Doc’s said from the side of the room and Lucian did as he said—opening his eyes, just to be met with the sight of a cold metallic ceiling with a few surgical lights hovering above him.

The doc’s face appeared above him and he gave a small smile.

"That’s a nice disguise you’ve got there. Why don’t we take it off!"

He said, using a few tools to bust off the chips at the sides of his face, dispelling his disguise and revealing his actual face. His cover of Rishan Kael had been seen through just like that.

But he wasn’t worried about that. He could donn that identity again, as many times as he wanted and this Doc was going to die either ways.

What caught his attention was the doctor himself. Lucian stared at the extremely young face of the doctor who was moving around the small lab, and all he could see was a poster.

’Lucas Martin. So this is the disgusting shithole you hid yourself in!’

Lucian was torn between being estatic and angry as he stared at the reason why he was in his current position.

Lucas was a well known researchers in the capital, rising rapidly through the ranks anf catching the eyes of a few significant families, having contributed to some breakthroughs in the biological research sector.

A rare happening in the current age and time.

He was quite entitled, having received endorsement from one of the council families, a major feat someone with his background couldn’t dream of achieving.

Lucas was the rising star in their sector, at least until the shady stuffs he did in the dark were exposed.

Lucas had violated several high level laws concerning human experimentation and forbidden practices. When this was brought out to the public, he showed no remorse and even admitted to committing those crimes. But even he had a sort of plan, disappearing immediately after his message to the capital and its masses.

Lucian had been put in charge of the case by the headquarters. He was required to track and bring him in.

Lucian having no choice but to comply with the wishes of his superiors hopped on the mission, trailing and chasing the crazy scientist fugitive across planets and sectors, and just when he was about to catch him; successfully completing his mission, some external parties appeared out of nowhere, getting themselves involved.

Lucas had escaped and disappeared ever since then. There was no trace, sight or word of him. It was like he just didn’t exist anymore.

As punishment, the headquarters applied a few penalties, one of them being the seals currently placed on him, and sent him to Crane city to work there.

That was his superior being nice. The matter was a huge one and a slap to the face of the capital. The Corporations and people were pissed and agitated, looking for somewhere, someone or something to serve as an outlet for their anger and that sacrifice was supposed to be Lucas, if Lucian had caught him.

Since he had failed, those after him were eager to offer him as a sacrifice to satiate the Corporations and people.

Luckily his superior had saved his ass. His sentence was beyond light for failure on a mission of that caliber.

’Your head should be enough to satisfy those crazy hounds, but now I want to know more than ever the people behind this’

Lucian thought. Seeing such a highly wanted person here was beyond his expectations.

Besides, now that he had enough reason that they were the ones who stopped him from capturing Lucas, the matter had now become personal.

They were the reason he had a smudge on his record and was sent to a place like Crane city, just for him to end up here.

"Let’s see where to start from... Aha! The spleen has always been my favorite spot!"

Lucas said approached Lucian from the side.

His expression was perfectly calm, not matching the crazy tone his voice carried, but Lucian could see him for what he was, looking him into the eye.

He looked like he had acquired a quality toy he could play with.

"Let’s just hope E6 was right about you. If not, I’d just use him as the next subject, he has some potential too. Beneath that dumb brain of his!"

"Are you really that forgetful Lucas?"

Lucian said and Lucas’s expression froze for a moment before morphing into something dark.

"How the hell do you know my name?"

His voice was threatened as he approached Lucian with a blade.

All the enthusiasm and joy present on his face was gone, replaced by cold, brutal killing intent.

He didn’t care about performing tests on Lucian again. If he knew his name, he had to die!

’I can work on his corpse anyways. A bad deal, but it’s worth it!’

’That’s some nice killing intent for someone like him!’

Lucian thought while asking Lucas once more.

"Don’t you remember?"

He said, releasing the hold on his ability. His aura swept through the room and over Lucas, his black flames burning through the restraints used to tie his body.

"Y-y-you! It’s you!"

Lucas’s expression warped in terror, falling to the ground at the sight of those black flames.

He felt Lucian’s cold eyes over him as he stumbled over to the side, looking desperately for something on the table.

"That’s it!"

His eye found a red terminal at the edge of the table and his hands rushed for it, but Lucian’s aura washed over him, bringing him down to his feet before he could reach it.

"GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!!!"

Lucas screamed on purpose hoping someone outside might hear his voice.

Lucian chuckled seeing this, the wet patch in the man’s pants only made it more funny.

He had failed to mention something. For someone who had achieved so many feats in such a short period of time, he was a pure human.

An attribute that made him all the more special. He had achieved as normal human something that countless awakened researchers had failed to do over countless years.

"Are you stupid? This place is soundproof. I’m guessing you made it that way cause you didn’t want anyone to interrupt you, complaining of the noise!"

Lucian face resembled that of the grim reaper as Lucas watched his hand approach his head.

It was over and he knew it.

"You think you were going to get a away that easily?"

Lucian asked the man who gad closed his eyes, accepting that his journey was ending there, his hand hovering just inches above his face.

"A disgusting piece of shit, more worthless than the rats of the slums caused me a lot of inconvenience. It’d be rather anti climatic to me if you just died right away, right?"

Lucas shivered in fear thinking of what Lucian had in mind.

Lucian’s palm lit up with his black flames covering the face of Lucas who immediately started to scream in pain.

"Ahhhhh!! W-what d-d-did you dd!"

"Arghhhh!! ARGHHHH!!!"

Lucas barely managed to ask in between his screams.

His eyes had gotten bloodshot in an instant, several veins popping out on his head and neck.

His wasn’t on fire, yet he twisted and turned on the floor of the lab, feeling something worse deep in his soul.

"I can look around then!"

Lucian muttered, the screams of Lucas blessing his ears like graceful music.
