102: Chapter 102 Heading to Su Family Village
"Neigh—!"
The two magnificent cloud horses let out a neigh, clouds of mist exploding beneath their hooves as the entire carriage, like an arrow shot from a bow, charged madly in the direction of Su Family Village.
The fierce wind whipped against their faces, stinging like a blade.
Inside the carriage, Uncle, already dizzy and disoriented, was nearly thrown out by the sudden acceleration. Clinging tightly to the carriage window, his face pale as paper, he shouted, "Bai... Bai! Slow down! It's going to fall apart!"
Su Bai ignored him, eyes fixed intently on the approaching black smoke, his heart sinking to rock bottom.
They arrived at the entrance of Su Family Village.
The carriage came to a sudden halt, the cloud horses' hooves gouging deep furrows into the ground.
Su Bai looked into the village with a grim expression.
The air was filled with a burnt smell, intermingled with a faint scent of blood.
The entire village was deathly silent.
Just then, a stifling wind blew past, carrying a faint, ethereal sound from deep within the village.
It was a scream.
Su Bai's heart turned completely cold.
He turned his head and said calmly to Ma Lie, "Ma Lie, hide the carriage in the woods over there. Do not come out until I give the order!"
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Ma Lie nodded heavily at Su Bai. Daring not to ask another word, he immediately turned the horses around and drove the magnificent cloud carriage into the dense forest nearby.
"Uncle, stay close to me and don't make a sound," Su Bai said in a low voice as he drew a standard-issue long blade from the carriage.
Holding the hilt of the blade with a reverse grip, he crouched low and walked toward the village.
Uncle had never seen such a scene before; he was so terrified that his teeth were chattering uncontrollably.
Yet, looking at his nephew's back, he gritted his teeth and followed, stumbling along with uneven steps.
"Bai... Bai... w-what... what happened..." After catching up to Su Bai, Uncle said, his voice trembling.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here," Su Bai said, throwing the three words over his shoulder without turning back.
These three words seemed to possess a magical quality, soothing Uncle's panicked heart slightly.
The further they went inside, the stronger the smell of blood became.
Footprints and drag marks began to appear on the ground.
The courtyard gate of a house had been violently kicked open, the door panel hanging crookedly on its frame.
Suddenly, an intermittent sound of sobbing came from a nearby house.
Su Bai's footsteps came to an abrupt halt.
An uncontrollable Killing Intent surged wildly from his body.
Hit by this Killing Intent, Uncle couldn't help but shiver.
He looked in terror at his nephew's profile; the face that was usually delicate and refined was now twisted in ferocity.
Su Bai approached the house and peered inside through the gap in the door.
With just one glance, Su Bai's eyes nearly burst from their sockets in rage!
A burly man with a fleshy, brutish face was leisurely pulling up his pants, a satisfied smile plastered on his face.
On the ground at his feet, a girl with her clothes torn to shreds was curled up. Her body was covered in bruises, her eyes were hollow and devoid of any light, tear tracks still wet on her cheeks, and her lips were bitten until they bled.
Boom! A surge of fury shot from the soles of Su Bai's feet straight to the top of his head.
Beast! These two words exploded in his mind.
The man pulling up his pants seemed to sense the gaze from outside the door. He turned his head lazily, just about to shout, but was met with a blade flash that was fast to the extreme.
The blade light, cold and sharp as moonlight, flashed past.
The expression on the man's face froze. Before he could even let out a scream, he felt a chill at his neck.
The next second, his vision began to spin. He saw his own spurting neck and his crumbling body.
Thump. His head rolled to the ground, still wearing that lewd smile.
The headless corpse swayed, then crashed to the ground.
At the very moment the man died, in the largest residence in the center of the village, a burly man with a full beard, who was wiping a ghost-head broadsword, suddenly paused.
The man looked up sharply in Su Bai's direction, stood up, and roared, "Who is it! Get out here!"
His voice rolled out across the area.
Su Bai ignored him. He stepped into the room, took off his outer robe, and covered Su Yun, hiding the heartbreaking sight of her exposed body.
"It's okay now," Su Bai said, his voice hoarse and trembling as he looked at Su Yun on the floor.
Su Yun's body trembled violently, and her hollow eyes finally regained a flicker of focus.
She slowly raised her head and saw Su Bai's familiar face. Her eyes instantly regained their luster, and she said weakly to Su Bai, "Su... Brother Su Bai?"
Uncle, who had followed closely behind, was stunned when he saw the figure on the floor.
"Su Yun! My dear granddaughter! How did you end up here!" After regaining his senses, Uncle rushed over, shouting with tears streaming down his face.
Seeing her family, Su Yun let out a wail, threw herself into Uncle's arms, and began to cry heart-wrenchingly, sobbing until she was breathless.
"Grandpa Su He... Wuwu... Quickly... go save them..." She cried, using all her strength to point toward the center of the village, her voice sharp as she shouted, "Clan Chief... and the others... are all... trapped in the ancestral hall!"
The ancestral hall! Su Bai's heart sank abruptly. He pressed his lips together and turned to leave.
The ancestral hall of Su Family Village.
The vermilion gates of the ancestral hall were tightly shut, covered in marks from swords and axes.
Outside the door, more than fifty ferocious Bandits surrounded the ancestral hall, leaving no gap for escape.
They held gleaming steel blades in their hands, occasionally shouting obscenities.
Among the crowd, two men with exceptionally powerful auras were particularly conspicuous.
One was the bearded leader, Tiger Wang, and the other was a man with a hideous scar on his face.
Both of them exuded the spiritual power fluctuations characteristic of Cultivators; they were clearly two Cultivators at the Fifth Layer of Qi Refining!
Inside the ancestral hall, the remaining elderly, weak, women, and children of Su Family Village were all huddled together. Every face was filled with despair.
The dozen or so strongest young men in the village, armed with hoes and firewood knives, stood behind the door with faces full of grief and indignation, using their bodies and crude furniture to hold the door shut.
At their lead was the gray-haired Clan Chief, Su Zhennan.
He leaned on a cane, his aged body trembling slightly, but it was clear he was trying his best to remain calm.
"Clan Chief! Don't wait anymore!" A burly young man with bloodshot eyes shouted at Su Zhennan, "Those beasts are not human! Little Sister Yun is still outside, and we don't know if she's dead or alive! Just give the word, and even if I, Su Tao, die, I will charge out and fight them to the death!"
There was a sob in Su Tao's voice.
Su Yun was his own younger sister, and now, it was very likely that she had already fallen victim to the ruffians.
Yet he could only cower here, not even daring to go out. This made Su Tao feel like he was about to explode with frustration.
