32: Chapter 32 Save My Brother

Su Bai spoke up:

"During this time, we will split up."

"I will be responsible for lighting the oil barrels. Ma Lie, take Zhao Ding and the others, and be responsible for creating a disturbance near the valley entrance to draw all the guards' attention."

Listening to this plan, Ma Lie nodded, his palms covered in cold sweat.

"Understood!"

Su Bai looked at Ma Lie, still feeling somewhat uneasy, and cautioned:

"Remember, we only have one chance. We cannot afford to fail."

At this moment, Su Bai's voice carried an air of murderous intent.

"Alright! I will wait for your signal!"

Ma Lie said to Su Bai, a gleam of madness flashing in his eyes.

With the plan set, the nine men spoke no more.

Su Bai gestured, and the group silently slid down the hillside.

The air was filled with an indescribable odor.

Su Bai slid down against the cliff wall with an indescribably fluid movement.

Behind him, Ma Lie and the others imitated Su Bai, but their movements were clearly much stiffer.

Su Bai bypassed a yawning patrol of Pig Demons and quietly crept into a corner.

He then took out a Spirit Stone from his bosom, stuffed it into a tattered sack so that only a corner of its glow was visible, and casually tossed the sack at a corner.

After doing this, Su Bai's figure flickered, and he snuck toward the giant oil barrels deep in the valley.

Meanwhile, Ma Lie and the remaining seven men also crept behind a patch of bushes.

They poked their heads out, staring intently at the two drowsy Troll guards at the valley entrance, their hearts in their throats.

Time ticked by second by second.

Finally, a Goblin wobbled past the corner.

It had intended to find a place to relieve itself, but was inadvertently attracted by the faint light emanating from the sack.

"Chi?"

The Goblin curiously kicked the sack, and a Spirit Stone rolled out.

Greed erupted instantly in the Goblin's small, mung-bean-like eyes.

Looking around guiltily and seeing no one paying attention, it stuffed the Spirit Stone into its bosom.

However, it did not notice.

Another Goblin nearby had happened to see this scene.

"Chiga!!"

A screeching sound rang out immediately.

The other Goblin lunged forward like a madman, wanting to snatch the Spirit Stone.

Scuffling, biting, screaming...

The chaos spread rapidly.

Soon, the surrounding Demon soldiers were all attracted over.

When they saw the other Spirit Stones on the ground, all the Demon soldiers acted almost simultaneously.

"It's mine!"

"Get lost! I saw it first!"

Fighting over the Spirit Stones, the Demon soldiers shoved each other, and some even drew their weapons.

The scene instantly spiraled out of control.

The Trolls at the valley entrance were also awakened. Looking at the chaotic Goblins and Pig Demons, they initially wanted to scold them, but when they saw the Spirit Stones, their eyes turned red as well.

"Roar!"

One of the Trolls roared and charged over, sweeping several Goblins away with a single swing of its mace, and reached out to grab the Spirit Stones.

The entire supply camp was in complete disarray!

"Now is the time!"

In the distance, a cold glint flashed in Su Bai's eyes. He silently unscrewed the lids of several oil barrels, and the smell of kerosene began to permeate the air.

Su Bai then took out a fire starter and blew the flame to life.

Just as he was about to throw the fire starter, a strong sense of crisis struck from behind!

Without thinking, Su Bai rolled on the ground.

"Swish!"

A black shadow grazed his scalp and nailed itself fiercely into the ground in front of him.

It was a black bone arrow, its tail still vibrating slightly.

A hoarse voice rang out not far away: "Human Race little worm, you have quite some guts."

Su Bai's heart sank, and he looked up.

He saw a tall Wolf Demon that had appeared, who knows when, on a grain pile nearby, looking down at him with a giant bone bow in its hand.

Its aura was steady and powerful, far beyond that of those Qi Refinement Stage Demon soldiers.

Foundation Establishment Stage!

There was actually a Foundation Establishment Stage Demon general hidden here!

This Wolf Demon was clearly the true commander, having been hidden in the shadows all along.

It seemed those patrols were just a front.

"Do it!"

Knowing he was exposed, Su Bai no longer concealed himself. He roared toward Ma Lie's direction while violently throwing the fire starter in his hand toward the pile of firewood soaked in kerosene!

"Seeking death!"

Seeing this, the Wolf Demon roared and immediately nocked another arrow, aiming at Su Bai.

But the moment Su Bai threw the fire starter, his body had already lunged in another direction.

On the other side, Ma Lie heard Su Bai's roar, his heart tightened, and he yelled to the soldiers behind him:

"Set the fire!"

Several pre-prepared fire arrows whistled toward the grain pile at the valley entrance.

The burlap and hay were instantly ignited, and flames shot up high.

"Boom!"

Almost at the same time, a loud explosion came from deep in the valley.

The fire starter Su Bai threw ignited the kerosene, and the soaring flames lit up half the night sky!

The explosion blew several nearby grain piles away.

Sparks flew everywhere; wherever they landed, a fire ignited.

The fire borrowed the wind's momentum, and the wind aided the fire's power.

The entire valley instantly turned into a sea of fire!

The Demon soldiers watching this scene were dumbfounded.

Now, none of the Demon soldiers were fighting over the Spirit Stones anymore; they just looked at the fire and shouted loudly:

"Run!"

"Put out the fire! Quickly put out the fire!"

Cries, roars, and the crackling of burning wood mixed together.

"Retreat!"

Watching the flames, a flash of satisfaction crossed Su Bai's eyes.

He then turned and ran into the distance.

The Wolf Demon was so angry smoke was coming out of its seven orifices, but it couldn't spare the time to pursue and kill Su Bai.

The grain being burned was a grave crime; it had to organize firefighting immediately.

But the entire camp was already in complete chaos, and the Wolf Demon alone could not command it.

After Su Bai rendezvoused with Ma Lie and the others, they fled like mad toward Yunzhou City.

Behind them were the soaring flames and the roars of the Yao Race.

They knew that the fury of the 300,000-strong Demon would soon come pouring down.

After the fire started, to avoid being discovered by the Yao Race, Su immediately had Ma Lie take the remaining few back to Yunzhou City, while he stayed behind to cover the retreat, erase tracks, and lure away any Yao Race scouts that might pursue them.

"Squad Leader! You..."

Ma Lie was anxious and opened his mouth to try and persuade Su Bai.

But the next second, he was blocked by Su Bai's words:

"Carry out the order!"

"Take Zhao Ding; he is fading fast. You must return to the city immediately to find an Army Doctor! Return alive and deliver the message!"

Gritting his teeth, Ma Lie felt his eyes heat up as he looked at Su Bai's back. Ultimately, he carried the unconscious Zhao Ding and, taking the remaining men, charged toward Yunzhou City without looking back.

...

The sky was barely brightening.

Ma Lie and the other eight men finally saw the outline of Yunzhou City.

They were all ragged, covered in blood and grime.

The guards at the city gate were also shocked when they saw them and hurriedly opened the city gate.

But the moment the eight men entered Yunzhou City, before they could even catch their breath, a squad of soldiers in bright armor surrounded them.

The man in the lead was none other than General General Qin Bei's deputy, Chang Feng.

Chang Feng stood arrogantly in front of them, pointed his riding crop at Ma Lie, and said with a fake smile: "Oh, isn't this Squad Leader Ma Lie? Didn't you go to scout the Yao Race's situation? How come only a few stray dogs like you have returned?"

Ma Lie hadn't slept all night, was exhausted, and was worried about Su Bai's safety; he was already seething with anger.

Seeing Chang Feng's face now, rage surged into his heart, and he roared at Chang Feng: "Chang Feng! What do you mean by that? We fought bloody battles, surviving by the skin of our teeth, and you're here making sarcastic remarks?"
