110: Chapter 110: Related to Personal Background, Revenge
"My Tribesmen are all doing just fine." Herman cast a pitying glance at the raving man and pointed towards the Bai Guo Tribe warriors wreaking havoc in all directions.
He is now the chief of the Bai Guo Tribe and has nothing to do with the Xita Tribe.
Sang Qing couldn't understand the cryptic exchange they were having.
Aniel noticed her confused expression and quickly leaned in to explain, "Herman is the cub of the chief's family from two generations ago in the Xita Tribe. But Endo took a liking to his Mother and wanted to take her by force, so he injured Herman and drove him out of the Tribe.
Then he killed his Father and forcibly took his Mother."
Thus, there is a deep-seated hatred between them.
Sang Qing suddenly understood.
This melodramatic plotline is on par with Sa Yu's own origins.
En Zuo and En You wanted to resist, but Sang Qing hadn't given them the antidote, so they were currently powerless to fight back.
More and more Beastmen were being brought to the square, including several shamans from the Xita Tribe.
Su Qigu trembled, protecting her little granddaughter, her face ashen.
She had already spotted Sang Qing's figure, so she understood the origin of this conflict.
"You will receive the beast god's curse, you wicked, evil female. It's you who has harmed our Tribe. The beast god will not let you go." Su Qigu, having fallen from grace in an instant, was so furious she directly began cursing Sang Qing.
"You're seeking death." Sa Yu stepped in front of Sang Qing, glaring at her with icy eyes.
Su Qigu trembled again.
Sang Qing pulled on Sa Yu's hand, turned to look at Su Qigu, and spoke mockingly, "Shaman, didn't you say your Tribe would never encounter disaster?"
So soon, catastrophe has struck.
It seems her prophecies aren't very accurate.
Su Qigu's face turned pale, her lips quivered a couple of times. She hugged the little granddaughter in her arms tightly before being dragged aside by a warrior.
En Zuo knew the situation was hopeless, resistance was futile. His entire being seemed shrouded in dark clouds.
"Herman. You've won."
En You struggled unwillingly a few times, "Brother!"
But Herman felt no joy, a flicker of pain crossing his face.
Won?
So what if he won? His Father and Mother would never return.
And the true culprit had been dealt with in advance by Sa Yu; he couldn't even take revenge with his own hands.
Fortunately, Endo's two cubs had fallen into his grasp.
He wouldn't let them go.
"Help! Herman, help! Save me!" A young female broke free from her restraints and ran towards Herman, a delighted smile on her face, about to throw herself into his arms.
Thump!
Herman raised his uninjured foot and kicked directly at the female lunging towards him.
Solice was sent flying, her body tumbling several times on the ground, kicking up dust.
"I have no relationship with her." Herman looked nervously at Sang Qing and hurriedly explained.
Sang Qing frowned, looking down to examine the female on the ground.
Wasn't this the female who came to the grasslands on the first day looking to cause trouble?
She knew Herman?
"Cough... cough..." Solice coughed heavily a few times, clutching her chest and looking at Herman in disbelief. "Herman, you dare kick me? Have you grown tired of living?"
Herman's face instantly darkened.
"Take her away."
Don't let her be an eyesore here.
"No, I won't go, Herman.
Why are you attacking the Xita Tribe, you traitor? You grew up in the Xita Tribe. How dare you lead foreign Beastmen to ambush the Tribe." Solice shook off the Beastman trying to drag her away, roaring ferociously at Herman.
She pointed a finger at Herman, then turned to glare at Sang Qing. "Is it because of her?"
She's just a female with nothing but good looks. Herman's eyes must be clogged with mud to attack the Xita Tribe because of her.
Herman slapped her hand away, shielding Sang Qing. "It's your brain that's rotten. Did you think I would forget my grudge against Endo?"
Also, her Father was an accomplice back then.
He wouldn't let any of them go.
"Chief Endo was killed by you. I knew it." Solice held her hand, glaring at him angrily. "You're too vicious, Herman. You deserve to die. How could you kill Chief Endo? He was much more heroic than your Father. He was the most powerful chief on the grasslands."
It's all because of this fool that the Xita Tribe can never find such a brave chief again.
"En Zuo, En You, why haven't you avenged Chief Endo yet? Ah, how can you submit to his coercion?" Solice looked discontentedly at En Zuo and En You, her face full of disdain.
They aren't resisting?
Cowards. Incompetent.
Listening to her shrill, piercing voice, Heng Dun stepped forward with a grim expression. "Shut up. I'm asking you, where is Anna?"
Why hadn't he seen Anna yet?
"I don't know." Solice was somewhat afraid of this Snake Beastman before her, her body shrinking back.
Heng Dun frowned, looking at the ongoing slaughter, worry flooding his heart.
"Go find her, Heng Dun." Herman patted his shoulder, pushing him forward a step.
He and Aniel were enough here.
Heng Dun hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "I'll be back soon."
Mainly, he was afraid Anna would take the chance to run away.
Then he and the Little Cub would truly have only each other.
En Zuo, squatting on the ground, glanced up at Solice, hiding the cunning in his eyes.
After watching the spectacle for a while, Sang Qing took Sa Yu and joined the battlefield.
With their addition, before evening fell, most of the Xita Tribe's Tribesmen had been captured.
Although a portion escaped, it was of no great consequence.
Waking up, the sky had changed.
The Xita Tribe warriors, seeing their comrades' corpses hanging from the trees, eyes turned red.
Sang Qing leaned against Sa Yu, watching Herman and the others handle the remaining matters. Bored, she started chatting with Sa Yu. "Is the Dragon Clan like this too?"
Sa Yu thought for a moment. "Pretty much!"
"The Dragon Clan has many males; fighting is a common occurrence, but everyone holds back."
Not like Herman, who kills Beastmen at the slightest disagreement.
Those Beastmen hanging from the trees were the ones unwilling to submit to the Bai Guo Tribe, so Herman had simply killed them.
Hold back? She didn't think so.
Anyway, her impression of the Dragon Clan wasn't very good.
"Herman, you cruel, heartless male, you deserve to die."
"Herman, you'll die a terrible death. I didn't kill your Father, why treat me like this? Ah, you deserve to die."
"Spare me, spare me. Herman, we played together as children. I know I was wrong. I didn't abandon your sister."
"Herman, ah, you dare kill me? The beast god will not forgive you."
"..."
The stream of cursing and shouting continued. Sang Qing looked at Herman, whose eyes were already bloodshot with killing, and couldn't help but frown.
How many more Beastmen was he going to kill?
But she wouldn't stop him. Firstly, this involved Herman's personal factors. Secondly, she had just learned of the tragic plight of the Xita Tribe females.
These Beastmen didn't deserve forgiveness.
Sa Yu covered her eyes, looking at Herman who was killing Beastmen, remembering his own unsavory past. "Qing Qing, do you want to eat something first?"
He had to admit, Herman was a ruthless Beastman, his strikes much heavier than his own.
Sang Qing pulled his hand away. "I'm fine. Not hungry yet."
They could talk after Herman finished dealing with things.
En Zuo and En You were on the verge of collapse. Watching Tribesmen die one by one before their eyes, their expressions grew increasingly sorrowful.
En Zuo clenched his fist, sensing the power within his body, then fixed his gaze on Herman.
Everyone's attention was on Herman now. He secretly picked up a sharp stone from the ground and used it to cut through the vines binding him.
Su Qigu and Solice beside him were nearly frightened out of their wits.
Solice hadn't expected Herman to be this crazy. Looking at his unruly brows and eyes, she felt for the first time that Herman was a thoroughbred villain.
Su Qigu wanted to advise Herman, but he ignored her.
She was frantic, almost breaking the skin of her palms from clenching.
Suddenly, she turned to Sang Qing, speaking in a pleading tone. "Quick, stop him. He's killed so many of his own kind. If the beast god finds out, he definitely won't easily forgive his sins. Are you just going to stand by and watch him fall into depravity?"
She could tell Herman liked this female.
Right now, he wouldn't listen to anyone else. So, only she could try.
Sang Qing shook her head with a laugh, speaking bluntly. "Shaman, why didn't you help him back then?"
Don't preach kindness without experiencing another's suffering.
Once he's killed enough, he'll naturally stop.
Sang Qing's words felt like a sharp sword piercing Su Qigu's chest. Her lips trembled, her inner prayers interrupted, her eyes full of pity and helplessness.
It wasn't that she hadn't thought of helping him, but Endo was too powerful; she couldn't oppose him.
beast god, please open your eyes and look at this bloody, cruel scene. Herman has already lost his mind.
Anna bit the back of her hand, trembling slightly as she watched this scene from within Heng Dun's embrace.
But her trembling wasn't from fear; it was excitement.
She was filled with hatred for the Xita Tribe males. They all deserved to die.
Her Tribe was destroyed by the Xita Tribe, so she wished Herman would strike even harder.
This was also a form of revenge for her.
But Heng Dun thought she was afraid, so he reached out to pat her back and shouted towards Herman, "Herman, are you done yet?"
If he kept killing, Anna might not be able to stand steadily.
Herman's eyes were blood-red, his hands covered in blood.
Hearing Heng Dun's voice, he lifted his foot from the male's head he was stepping on and shrugged slightly. "Almost done."
Just a few more left. He remembered them all.
After dealing with the resisting males, Herman walked over to En Zuo and En You, holding a bone knife.
"Your turn!"
The cold, blood-stained bone knife slapped against En You's face. A stream of yellow liquid immediately flowed down his leg.
He knew Herman wouldn't show mercy. He was going to die.
No, he didn't want to die yet. He had just completed his Pair Bonding.
No, no, no.
"Herman, spare me. You've already killed my Father. You should be satisfied." Swallowing hard, En You looked dazed, terrified as he stared at the Herman before him.
So, he had become this powerful.
Herman gave a cold laugh, his sharp eyes brimming with killing intent. "But you two deserve to die as well. It was you who abandoned my sister."
His only relative, tricked out of the Tribe and abandoned by them.
He searched for a long time but never found her again.
It was all En Zuo and En You's fault. His sister would have been fine otherwise.
So what if she was a Half-Beastman? His Father and Mother could have protected her.
If it weren't for Endo taking advantage of Father's grief to strike a foul blow, their family of beasts would have been together, happy and complete.
But all of that has already been destroyed.
En You avoided eye contact, not daring to look Herman in the eye.
"I... I didn't mean to. I was young then, I really didn't know anything."
Hah~
Herman sneered, his bone knife suddenly slashing across En You's neck, drawing a spray of blood.
"I didn't mean it either. Go confess your sins to the beast god."
"Urgh..." En You's eyes widened as he groaned in pain twice.
His neck hurt so much!
"Her... urgh..." He wanted to cry for help, but blood quickly welled up in his mouth again, choking his voice.
It hurt so much; his neck was broken.
Feeling the helplessness of the blood spurting, En You's limbs began to convulse, and soon, he lay motionless.
En Zuo helplessly closed his eyes, his fists clenched tightly.
Herman looked down from above, admiring this scene, the madness in his eyes unmatched.
So satisfying.
Father, Mother, I will soon send all these enemies to see you.
Please don't blame me for being ruthless.
Sang Qing stood to the side, feeling the dense, oppressive killing intent tightly wrapped around Herman, and pursed her lips slightly.
She hadn't noticed before; he was so decisive in his actions, a truly ruthless beast.
"Herman!!!" En Zuo's face was so dark it seemed water could drip from it.
He looked up at Herman, gnashing his teeth as he called his name, "Dare you release me and let me challenge you?"
His Father and younger brother had both died at the hands of this wretched scoundrel. How he hated him!
If possible, he would definitely make Herman pay in blood.
"No, I dare not!" Why should he release him? He was about to end his life with a single stroke of the knife.
Why create unnecessary complications?
Herman replied to him flippantly.
Anna, standing nearby, couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Veins bulged on En Zuo's temples, his eyes wide with intense hatred and fury.
Just as Herman's knife was about to reach his neck, En Zuo suddenly erupted. His long-freed hands grabbed Herman's wrist and violently twisted it downward.
"Ah!" Herman cried out in pain and had no choice but to let go.
The bone knife then fell into En Zuo's hands. Heng Dun, who was closest, pushed Anna aside and kicked at En Zuo's hand.
But En Zuo gripped the bone knife tightly, not daring to loosen his hold at all.
After seizing the bone knife, En Zuo slashed at Herman's chest with all his might, "Go to hell."
"Herman!!" Heng Dun and Aniel exclaimed in shock, wanting to intervene, but En Zuo was simply too close. They could only watch helplessly as En Zuo plunged the knife into Herman's chest!
The sudden turn of events also gave Sang Qing a huge fright. She quickly pulled out a Flying Needle and shot it towards En Zuo.
Although Herman had been stabbed, he still had the strength to resist. He grabbed En Zuo's hand, but heard a sickening *thud* as the bone knife sank into flesh.
En Zuo didn't linger for a prolonged fight either. After wounding Herman, he transformed into his Beast Form and tried to flee.
En Zuo's Beast Form was an enormous One-Horned Lizard. With a sweep of his tail, he sent Aniel flying and charged towards the outskirts of the Tribe.
Herman wanted to intercept him, but his body wouldn't allow it. The bone knife in his chest snapped, and blood flowed down his abdomen.
He had barely taken a step before he began to collapse to the ground.
"Herman!" Sang Qing quickly supported him and called for Sa Yu to deal with En Zuo.
En Zuo had been hit by her Anesthetic Needle; he couldn't run far.
"Mmm..." Herman collapsed into Sang Qing's arms. The pain from his chest wound instantly drained all color from his face.
"Don't move." Sang Qing's heart raced. Looking at the wound on his chest, she took a pill from her small leather pouch and fed it to him.
"Mmm..." Herman opened his dimming eyes, slowly raising a hand to grasp Sang Qing's. As if on the verge of death, he coughed up a bit of bloody foam and spoke to her with deep, feeble exhaustion, "In the next life... I'll still... pursue you."
His head felt so dizzy; he couldn't hold on.
Sang Qing was both amused and exasperated, "You're not going to die."
If someone could die from a mere knife wound right in front of her, then she would be utterly incompetent.
"Really?" Herman looked into her clear eyes, feeling the pain lessen considerably.
He believed her.
"Then... cough cough... then give me a chance... okay..."
He had no more regrets; he had avenged his Father and Mother.
The only thing he found hard to let go of now was her.
Sang Qing's heart wavered slightly as she looked into his sincere, pure eyes.
"We'll talk about it after you recover."
It wasn't the time to agitate him now, but she still held firm to her original resolve, unshaken.
The corners of Herman's mouth curved upward as he nodded gently.
Ao Wei and Dax, who were taking a headcount of the beasts, heard the commotion and hurried over.
Seeing Herman covered in blood like a blood-soaked man, they exclaimed in a fluster.
"Herman, Herman? Are you alright?"
Aniel crouched down, anxiously supporting Herman. Seeing him bleeding and coughing up blood, he was completely at a loss.
"What do we do? Herman isn't going to meet the beast god, is he?"
"The Shaman, right, get the Shaman." Aniel looked towards Su Qigu and hurriedly ran over to drag her back.
"Quick, heal Herman, hurry!"
Su Qigu turned her face away, saying arrogantly, "Save him? Unless you restore the Xita Tribe to its original state!"
Aniel felt the urge to strangle her.
"If you won't save him, then I'll kill your granddaughter!!"
Aniel threatened her fiercely.
"Alright, Aniel, Herman is fine. I can treat him." Sang Qing found the noise around her ears quite overwhelming and quickly interrupted Aniel.
Feeling Herman's breathing become steady, Sang Qing reached out to check the depth of the bone knife in his chest.
Sa Yu landed heavily on the ground, transforming into his human form, holding En Zuo's bloody head in his hand.
He casually threw it at Su Qigu's feet, startling her into performing a frantic little dance on the spot.
Sa Yu admitted he had a bit of a mischievous streak.
Night fell, with clusters of bonfires.
Sang Qing walked out of Herman's house to find a group of beasts standing outside, anxiously waiting.
"It's alright now! It's over!"
Throwing the broken bone knife aside, Sang Qing smiled and spoke to them.
Whew!
All the beasts let out a collective sigh of relief.
It was good that he was okay. They had feared Herman's injuries were too severe, that he might not pull through.
Even the Shaman had said Herman's injuries this time were not light; En Zuo had struck too heavily.
Taking the water Sa Yu handed her to wash her hands, Sang Qing looked at them, "As long as he makes it through tonight, Herman will be better by tomorrow."
With her life-saving pill, it would be strange if he weren't better.
She would definitely make Herman repay her with shell crystals later.
"Thank you, Sang Qing!" Aniel looked at her with immense gratitude.
Herman was his best friend. When they first came to the grasslands, it was Herman who had saved his life.
Now that Herman was safe, he could rest easy.
Sang Qing smiled somewhat awkwardly, "Mm, you're welcome."
Returning home, Sang Qing lay down on the bed, feeling rather weary.
Sa Yu pounced on her, holding her in his arms, "Tired? Want to eat something?"
Sang Qing hooked her arms around his neck, a teasing glint in her eyes as she opened her mouth and bit his cheek, "I want to eat you!"
"Wuwuwu, I've been eaten by Qing Qing!" Sa Yu playfully curled up, laughing and frolicking with her... Another day passed.
The warriors who had fled the Xita Tribe returned with a group of warriors from vassal Tribes, leading to several more clashes with Aniel and the others.
Sang Qing didn't concern herself with these matters. If they couldn't even handle something like this, then they weren't fit to be leaders of the Bai Guo Tribe.
After the previous day's battle, the Xita Tribe existed in name only.
The Tribe's females had been brought to the Bai Guo Tribe, while the males were taken as laborers to build new Stone Houses.
Herman sat by the bedside, watching Sang Qing change his dressing with immense delight.
The wound was on his chest, so changing the dressing inevitably involved some unavoidable contact.
The gentle breath of the female on his skin made Herman purse his lips, struggling to restrain himself.
"San... Sang Qing..."
"What is it?" Sang Qing continued bandaging without looking up.
Staring at the top of her dark head, a few unruly strands of hair hanging by her cheeks, Herman's heart beat a little faster, "You... you... is what you said the other day still valid?"
"Said what?" Only then did Sang Qing glance up at him.
Her lively eyes held a trace of doubt. Through her sparkling pupils, Herman seemed to see his own blushing reflection.
"It's... it's about you agreeing to let me pursue you..."
Herman said softly, his face feeling somewhat warm.
Aiyah, why was he blushing?
What was there to be shy about? He was a male; how could he be so hesitant?
Herman puffed out his chest and declared firmly, "You promised to let me pursue you. You can't go back on your word."
Sang Qing's hands didn't stop working as she posed a question, "Herman, if a female had no fertility value, would you choose her?"
"..." What did this mean?
Herman shook his head, answering honestly, "No!"
He really liked Little Cubs.
In the future, he definitely wanted to have many Little Cubs with his mate.
Sang Qing smiled, her voice gentle, "That's exactly right."
"Right about what?" Herman frowned, not understanding her meaning.
"I have no fertility value." Sang Qing gave the answer directly.
Herman was instantly thunderstruck, the whole beast feeling fried on the outside and tender on the inside, rooted to the spot.
He... he he he... he... Oh no, oh no, he had blocked his own path.
Herman's face flushed crimson, his brain like muddled paste, unable to function.
What should he do?
His mind was now completely filled with Sang Qing's words.
She actually had no fertility value?
Impossible, impossible.
Ahhh, what should he do?
After finishing the bandaging, Sang Qing cut off the excess gauze, "All done. Rest now, I'm leaving."
This was the last dressing change; it should be sufficient now.
Herman abruptly stood up, grabbing her hand, "Wait..."
Clutching her hand tightly, Herman's Adam's apple bobbed as he looked at her with guilt-filled eyes,
"Is there something else?"
Sang Qing looked at him with extreme calmness.
