Chapter 101. Kill the human!

As I walked out of the Divine Church, I couldn’t help but wonder what kind of place Elvarion Kingdom truly was.Judging by the paper the Priestess gave me, it sounded like a terrible place for any ordinary man to go, but I’m no ordinary man.

As I strolled through the streets, vendors were beginning to open their shops, the golden rays of the morning sun spilling over the cobblestone paths. I inhaled deeply, savoring the peaceful air.

Passing by one of the vendors, I bought some bread and meat to share with my family. It was the weekend, meaning we’d be together, and before setting off on my journey for the second necklace, I wanted to spend at least today with them.

But as I walked, l felt like I was being followed. Whoever it was, they were skilled at concealing their presence.

Ignoring them, I made my way home and decided I’d take charge of cooking today. I may not look like it, but I was quite the cook in my previous life.

After whipping up a beef stew with vegetables, I served it alongside the bread I had bought. Then, using some bananas from my realm, I mixed them with sugar, eggs, and flour to bake a small cake for dessert.

We ate together in high spirits, enjoying each other’s company.

After the meal, I decided to check up on Anna. She always insisted she was fine, but something about her had been unsettling me lately.

Knocking on her door, she opened it with a bright smile. She wore a maroon pair of shorts with white trim and an orange crop top that left her midriff exposed.

"Hey... Asher," she greeted me with a hug.



I hugged her back, catching the scent of her shampoo. "Hey, Anna. You good?"

"I am, now that you’re here. Come on inside." She led me in, bypassing the sitting room entirely and heading straight to her bedroom, where she settled on the bed.

I remained standing, watching her closely. "What are you up to?"

She pouted. "Come on now, take off your shoes and sit on the bed. I have a game I want us to play."

"A game?" I asked, hesitating before removing my shoes and sitting beside her.

Reaching under her pillow, she pulled out a stack of cards.

"So, there’s this game I’ve seen people playing lately. It’s called Truth or Dare," she said excitedly.

Truth or Dare? That was a game from my old world. I took the cards, examining them. The back read "Genzai Innovations."

No wonder. So this mysterious person behind this Genzai company had been using knowledge from his previous life to invent things in this world, even games?. Pretty smart. He must be filthy rich by now.

"So, the rules are—"

"I know them," I cut her off. "We shuffle the cards, then each pick one. The one with the higher number chooses Truth or Dare, while the loser has to comply. No backing out."

"Wow... you’ve played this before?" she asked.

I feigned a smile. "Yeah... with my sister."

No way was I telling her this was a famous game from my old world.

"Okay! Let’s play then!" She shuffled the cards, and we each picked one. She got the higher number and smirked.

"Alright, I’ll choose truth. Do you have a girlfriend?" she asked, glancing downward.

"Urg... nope. I don’t." I saw her smile slightly.

We played another round, and she won again.

"Okay... I’m choosing truth again. What kind of girls do you like?"

I thought for a moment. "I guess I’d like someone who’s faithful, strong-willed, beautiful, and caring—but also independent. Someone who doesn’t need me to take care of them but still chooses to be with me."

"So, you like strong women, huh? Am I..." She hesitated, glancing at me before looking away.

"Are you...?" I leaned slightly forward, waiting for her to finish.



"Never mind!" She shook her head. "Let’s keep playing."

We played for hours until—


"So, if you were locked in a room with me and allowed to do whatever you wanted, what would you do?" she asked, blushing.

I chuckled. "Well, I’d sit down with you, ask about your life, your dreams, and your future plans. Maybe even about who you’d marry—since you’re royalty, you’ll probably end up with some rich noble’s son."

She clenched her fists. "What about you?" she asked. "What are your plans for the future?"

I grinned. "I want to be the strongest, and rise to the top! I want all women around the world who look down on men to bow and submit to me. And l want to build a hare—"

Before I could complete my sentence, Anna suddenly collapsed to the floor, screaming, her nails digging into her scalp—then, all at once, she fell silent.

It all happened so fast! My heart raced with shock as l jolted up to check up on her.

I placed a hand on her forehead. It was burning hot—probably over 42 degrees!

"Anna! What’s wrong?" I shook her in panic. She wasn’t responding. Her eyes flickered unnaturally, the jade color in them completely drained to a pale white.

I picked her up and laid her on the bed. The ominous miasma I had sensed on her before came back, except it seemed quite intense this time.

But, as I watched, still deciding what to do, I saw her forehead crack slightly, a single drop of blood trailing down her face.

It was... horrifying.

I quickly placed my hand on her head and activated my skill: Divine Protection. I felt like a sinister force deep inside her was fighting against my skill, resisting—but after several attempts, the cracks on her forehead sealed, her skin returning to normal.

But she remained unconscious.

Something was terribly wrong with her.

"I heard a noise!" A voice called out. I turned toward the doorway to see Ivy rushing in. "ANNA! What happened to her?!"

"I don’t know. She just collapsed and started screaming," I said.

Ivy checked her over before slumping to the floor. "It’s getting worse," she muttered.

I frowned. "You mean this has been happening for a while?"

"Yes. Ever since the skeletons attacked the kingdom."

"And you didn’t think to tell me?!" I snapped.



Ivy lowered her gaze. "Anna told me not to. She said she didn’t want to worry you. But it’s getting worse. I don’t know what to do. Sometimes her head hurts so badly she can’t move. Lately, though, it’s been happening more often. Last night, I heard her scream, and when I came to check on her—"

She stopped, gulping nervously.

"I-I saw... a terrifying, blood red eye on her forehead! It was..." Her voice trembled as she sobbed, pure fear in her eyes. "S-she... spoke to me. But not in her voice. It was deep and terrifying."

"A deep voice?" I crouched beside Ivy. "What did she say?"

Ivy’s eyes widened with horror, her heartbeat thundering in her chest.

"K-K-Kill the human!" she choked out. "That’s what Anna said. She said, ’Kill the human!’ before she collapsed. I stayed awake the whole night in shock!"

Kill the human...?

A chill ran down my spine. And for some reason, I suddenly recalled the words of the necromancer who had attacked the kingdom that day.

I couldn’t remember everything he said, not like l understood any of it anyway, but I was sure of one thing—

He had mentioned appreciating my help.

And that soon, I’d realize I was a fool.
