25: Hell Tower! Unstoppable Defense?
The regional channel of the entire war zone had completely devolved into a boiling pot of despair.
Those once high-and-mighty SS-rank badges, once seen as hope by countless people, now lay like discarded trash, cheaply displayed on the cold system announcement. And the ID named [Little Devil] was like a black sun, casting its shadow over every survivor's heart, cold and inescapable.
Lin Feng's expression remained unchanged.
He did not participate in that meaningless revelry and wailing, but calmly opened the battle replay Dragon Aotian had shared.
He watched the footage, the sound, every detail, no less than ten times, even slowing down crucial seconds for frame-by-frame analysis.
While others were still terrified by the instantaneous evaporation of the Holy Dragon, Lin Feng's eyes only saw that grim-looking black high tower, and the dark-red beam it shot out, which started thin and grew thicker, its damage increasing exponentially.
Single-target lock-on.
Continuous damage.
Damage stacking.
These three characteristics instantly combined into a cold name in Lin Feng's mind.
“Hell Tower.”
This thing was practically made to counter “hero-stream” players like Dragon Aotian, who relied on a single, ultimate troop type. No matter how strong the Holy Dragon was, no matter how high its health, it couldn't withstand this unreasonable, exponentially increasing continuous damage.
Lin Feng's thoughts, like an invisible net, instantly enveloped Little Devil's entire tactical system and began to rapidly dismantle it.
That strange [Hell Tower] was responsible for dealing with the highest-tier, high-health elite units or heroes.
The hero [Archer Queen], who had not yet appeared but whose purpose was clear from her name, would use her ultra-long range and high-frequency attacks to clear out numerous, low-health fodder units.
Coupled with the massive number of low-level defensive towers brought by a Level 7 Town Hall, they formed a crossfire network to deal with “cannon fodder sea” tactics from the air and ground.
A seemingly seamless defensive loop.
For breaking through defenses, there was the [Hell Tower].
For clearing the field, there was the [Archer Queen].
For countering human-wave tactics, there was a vast array of Archer Towers.
At first glance, this defensive system seemed impregnable, capable of handling almost any form of attack.
But a cold arc formed on Lin Feng's lips.
Any seemingly perfect defense inevitably has a corresponding, weakest vital point. And Little Devil's vital point had been laid bare before everyone the moment he revealed his talent.
[1 Durability].
This was the cornerstone of all his tactics, and his only, most fatal Achilles' heel.
The question was, how to penetrate that layered network of firepower and precisely touch that fragile “heart”?
Ordinary troops would be riddled with arrows by the [Archer Queen] and the Archer Tower array before they even got close to the city wall.
Powerful hero units would be burned alive by the [Hell Tower].
A thought, like lightning piercing the night, suddenly illuminated Lin Feng's mind.
His consciousness instantly sank into the barracks, locking onto that special unit born from a lucky mutation.
[Goblin Guard (Elite)].
[Special Skill: Shadow Step (Passive) — This unit enters stealth when not attacking and cannot be actively targeted by defensive towers.]
Cannot be targeted!
This meant that neither the [Hell Tower] nor those ordinary Archer Towers would completely ignore it! It was like a non-existent ghost, able to walk through that death zone openly!
This was the dagger to break the deadlock!
But new problems followed.
Little Devil's fortress would surely have walls. Even if the [Shadow Step] Goblin could reach the base of the wall, it couldn't cross that chasm. It was, after all, just a melee unit.
One last piece of the puzzle was missing.
A piece that could plunge this ghost dagger into the enemy's heart.
Lin Feng immediately turned his attention to the [Institute], which had just been upgraded and unlocked new technologies. His gaze rapidly swept over the blueprints of a series of new troop types and buildings unlocked by the Level 6 Town Hall.
Soon, his sight fixated on the icon of a brand-new troop type, riding a Boar and wielding a war hammer.
[Boar Rider]: Occupies 5 population. Unlock Cost: 500 heavy oil.
[Trait: Wall Jump — When attacking, this unit can ignore walls and jump directly into the enemy's fortress.]
Found it.
That's it.
In that instant, all the clues clicked together in Lin Feng's mind.
The [Hell Tower], the [Archer Queen], and the [Walls] formed Little Devil's impenetrable Iron Wall, which even Dragon Aotian found helpless against.
But once the [Shadow Step] and [Wall Jump] traits were combined, they would become the sharpest, most deadly god-slaying spear, capable of piercing through any Iron Wall!
An unprecedented, insane synthesis plan had already taken shape in his mind.
However, as he prepared to act, a cold reality poured a bucket of cold water on his fiery plan.
[Maximum Fusion Quantity: 4]
His Town Hall was currently only Level 6. And according to the previously discovered pattern, every two Town Hall level increases would only add 1 to the fusion limit. To raise the fusion limit to 5, he had to upgrade his Town Hall to Level 7.
“So that's it.”
The flame in Lin Feng's eyes did not extinguish; instead, it burned even more fiercely.
The path to victory was now incredibly clear before him. Now, he just needed enough resources to pave this last stretch of road.
He glanced at his resource panel.
[Gold: 4200]
[Gold required to upgrade Town Hall to Level 7: 20000]
He was still short 15,800 Gold.
This was an astronomical figure.
But in Lin Feng's eyes, there was not the slightest trace of retreat or fear.
His gaze slowly turned towards the world map representing PVE and PVP, his eyes as cold as a top predator about to embark on a hunt.
“Demon Pact… your doomsday is coming.”
