164: Chapter 164 The Unreliable Blue Fatty, the Mad Overlord of the West Sea!

The scene inside the Chaos Labyrinth could be described as a disaster zone of mental pollution.

The passageways were not static but constantly squirming, twisting, and shifting like the intestines of a giant beast.

The walls were made of a translucent, gelatinous substance, within which one could faintly see various twisted, screaming Soul phantoms trapped inside. Underfoot, the ground was sometimes hard as iron, other times soft as mud, and occasionally, a large mouth filled with sharp teeth would suddenly split open, attempting to gnaw on the ankles of intruders.

The air was permeated with a strange, cloying, and rotten odor, mixed with the smell of ozone generated when various elemental traps charged up.

And our "professional" guiding NPC, Lord Guru Du, was walking in the lead, wearing that bright blue bodysuit that was so tight it made him gasp for air.

"Follow me! This way! Trust me, Lord Guru Du's sense of direction is famous for being reliable in the Abyss!"

He patted his chest confidently, his bodysuit making a "slap-slap" elastic sound.

No sooner had he finished speaking.

He stepped on a seemingly ordinary floor tile.

Hum—!

Dense, shadowy spikes instantly shot out from the walls on both sides, moving at an astonishing speed!

"Oh, holy crap!"

Guru Du let out a strange cry and scrambled to the ground, barely dodging with an extremely unsightly posture.

The shadow spikes flew past, almost grazing his round bottom.

Lu Chen, Great Green, the Molten Abyss Bloodflame Sparrow, and the other beast pets looked at him expressionlessly.

This was the thirteenth trap triggered since they set off.

Once every three minutes on average, more accurate than an alarm clock.

"An accident! Purely an accident!"

Guru Du climbed up, looking disheveled, and tried to save Face: "The labyrinth is just testing our alertness! Yes, that's right!"

Lu Chen took a deep breath, forcefully suppressing the urge to kick this blue fatty into the next trap on the spot.

If it weren't for the mission rules explicitly stating [Must arrive at the labyrinth core accompanied by the guiding NPC], he would have kicked him away long ago.

This dead fatty had the same temperament as Carlos in the early stages—just as unreliable!

Of course, it was hard to say if this dead fatty was just pretending.

Lu Chen narrowed his eyes, calculating in his heart: "Let's see who plays whom!"

The rest of the journey was even more chaotic.

Guru Du successfully demonstrated how to trigger the illusion mist with his Face, almost causing everyone to get separated amidst the wailing ghosts.

How to collapse a disguised bridge with his butt, forcing everyone to take a detour.

And how to confidently point at a treasure chest exuding an ominous aura, claiming it was a shortcut entrance, only for three unkillable, frantic puppets wearing chef hats and wielding kitchen knives to jump out and chase them for a full five minutes.

"Hahaha! Witness my power!"

Guru Du, chased until he was scrambling in terror, saw he was about to be struck, and suddenly pulled out something that looked like a showerhead from a fold in his bodysuit, pressing it toward his rear.

Pshhh—!

A thick, pink cloud of bubbles instantly gushed out, wrapping the three puppets into huge bubble balls.

They struggled inside, and their kitchen knives only made funny "poof poof" sounds as they struck the bubbles.

"Hmph! Abyss Limited Edition: Guru Du's Exclusive Bath Bubbles! Are you scared or what!" Guru Du said, proudly putting his hands on his hips.

"..."

Lu Chen couldn't even be bothered to roast him anymore.

Along the way, Guru Du pulled out all sorts of strange items, such as "singing banana peels," "a whistle that forces people to tap dance," and "a spray that instantly grows a beard."

Each time, he resolved the crisis in a way that seemed thrilling but was actually comical, yet his true strength remained unfathomable; it was impossible to gauge his level at all.

Finally.

After experiencing a series of exhausting "Guru Du-style" detours, they arrived at a relatively spacious circular hall deep within the labyrinth.

In the center of the hall sat a phantom figure composed of countless lights and shadows. It had an archaic form, as if it had been sitting there for millions of years—the Ancient Sage, Morpheus.

"We're here, we're here!"

Guru Du let out a long sigh of relief and wiped away sweat that didn't exist: "See! I told you I could get us here! Although the process was a little twisty, the result is perfect!"

Lu Chen couldn't be bothered to pay attention to him and cast his gaze toward Morpheus.

Guru Du leaned over and sneakily took out the old, battered compass whose needle was still spinning wildly from his embrace, stuffing it into Lu Chen's hand: "Here, I'm giving this to you! Don't look at it like that; in a critical moment... maybe... probably... it might be useful? It's been with me for so many years, even if it hasn't done any great deeds, it's put in the work!"

The Sage Morpheus, who was standing to the side, actually flashed a look of clear envy the moment he saw the compass, which was extremely anthropomorphic.

Although it vanished quickly, it was still captured by Lu Chen.

A broken compass that even an ancient NPC Sage would envy?

Although Lu Chen looked disgusted, he casually took it and threw it into his backpack.

Seeing that Guru Du had completed the mission and was about to be teleported away by the rules, Lu Chen remembered the promise to the West Sea Overlord and spoke as if casually:

"There is a Tier 9 World Lord BOSS in the Blue Star world called the Abyssal Demonized Giant Turtle King who has been wanting to pay respects to the so-called 'Great Abyssal Existence.' You're so well-connected, do you know him?"

Guru Du's small eyes darted around, and he puffed out his stomach, looking like he was saying, "You asked the right person": "Of course I know him! In this part of the Abyss, who doesn't give me, Guru Du, some Face? Alright, alright, considering we bathed together... ah, no, considering we braved the labyrinth together, I'll pass the message on for you!"

After speaking, a teleportation light shone on Guru Du. He winked and grinned at Lu Chen before instantly vanishing.

Lu Chen looked at the spot where he had disappeared and narrowed his eyes: "This blue fatty definitely has a problem!"

...

Somewhere in the Abyss, inside an extremely luxurious palace paved with pearls and agates, featuring a giant bubble bath in the center.

Guru Du's figure flashed back, and his bodysuit instantly turned into a comfortable bathrobe.

He jumped back into the bath with a splash and let out a comfortable sigh.

Immediately after, as if he had thought of something, a lewd and mischievous smile appeared on his Face: "Hehehe, this kid is as sharp as a monkey and has infinite potential. He probably guessed that my identity isn't simple. Since that's the case... I have to serve him some hard dishes and add some motivation; that's how it gets fun!"

He closed his eyes, and an invisible yet vast, boundless will instantly crossed endless spatial dimensions.

...

Deep in the West Sea of the Great Xia.

The Abyssal Demonized Giant Turtle King, which was lying on the seabed recuperating from some wounds left behind during the siege, suddenly stiffened!

An ancient, majestic voice, containing supreme authority and a hint of anger, exploded directly in the deepest part of its Soul like a thunderclap from the Nine Heavens:

"Hmph! A mere Tier 9 little turtle dares to covetously try to provoke My authority? You know not the height of the sky or the depth of the earth! I punish you—to never advance again for eternity!"

The pressure brought by that voice made the Abyssal Demonized Giant Turtle King's massive Soul tremble; it was an absolute suppression on the level of life itself!

It was stunned, its giant turtle eyes wide open, filled with endless grievance and terror.

Provoke the authority of a Great Existence?

When did I do that?

I didn't!

I don't even know where you are, Elder!

The only thing it had done recently that might be related to a "Great Abyssal Existence" was helping that human boy named Lu Chen attack Wuyao City...

Wait!

Lu Chen!

It must be him!

He must have slandered me in front of the Great Existence and set me up!

In an instant.

All the grievance and terror turned into monstrous rage!

"ROAR!!!"

The terrifying roar shook the entire West Sea, and countless sea monsters trembled in fear, not knowing what madness this Overlord was having again.

"LU! CHEN! You have severed my path of advancement! I will fight you to the death! I want you dead!"

The furious roar, carrying extreme hatred, rushed out of the sea and straight into the clouds!

Severing a turtle's path of advancement is like killing its parents; this grudge is irreconcilable!

...

The labyrinth hall.

Lu Chen was completely unaware of this; he was looking at the ancient Sage, Morpheus.

After receiving the quest item [Chaos Star Core], Morpheus emitted a gentle and ancient voice: "Favored one of fate, you have passed the trial of the labyrinth. Your next quest segment is..."
