Chapter 80: Venom Rage (3/3)

"Venom Rage!"His voice coldly reverberated across a small region, and just as his voice faded, the skill activated, and a supernatural transformation began.

A creeping sensation crept through his body as his skin began to shed its natural hue and take on a pale green appearance resembling that of a zombie.

His blue eyes turned green. Although his black hair remained the same colour, a green hue appeared at his tip, and at the same time, a barely visible layer of energy formed around his body.

"T-this..."

Marlon observed the transformation with an amazed look, lifting his two hands whose muscles had bulged and tightened, strength unlike before brimming through them.

[All Venom Vanguard skills’ potency will increase by 200% for ten minutes.]

[Venom Adaptation would now grant per poison-type attack taken and would last for one minute.]

[Toxic resistance has been doubled; you’re now immune to all poison-type damage.]

[Your strength stats have doubled.]

[Strength: 245 ------> 490]

[Attack power: 613 ------> 1226]

A series of notifications popped up once the transformation was completed.

"Incredible..." he let out, eyes shining with confidence.

He lifted his gaze toward the great serpigon, who was now staring at him, dumbfounded. Though it could not speak, one could definitely tell what it was about to say at this moment.

"I-Is that Marlon?"

Strolling out of the hotel where she had just finished taking care of the infected civilians, Crimson halted in her steps as she stared at the scene with a dumbfounded expression.

She used her spatial skill to scan Marlon.

"How is this possible?"

She could see it; she could tell the great change that had taken place.

When she checked him out earlier, his powers were on the verge of E-rank, but close to C-rank.

In history, she had never experienced something like this.

She lost her refined composure as she stood frozen with her mouth agape, observing him speechlessly.

Unaware of her gaze on him, Marlon swung into action.

The giant monster, standing over fifteen feet, was still frozen, staring at him, trying to understand why he was now using the same skill it had just finished using a few seconds ago.

The massive beast shivered back into reality.

It had to slay this human by all means. Its instinct kicked in.

And then it opened its mouth and spat out a large amount of venom at him.

"Yes!"

Marlon let out an excited yelp as he launched his body toward the attack. With 100% resistance to poison-type damage, he felt no shred of fear.

But such could not be said for Crimson.

Her eyes widened as she saw how he threw himself at the venom.

"NOOO! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!"

Her eyes dimmed, her mouth shivering.

Panic surged, and without waiting, she sprang forward.

But once again, she halted in her steps halfway through.

An amazed look rocked her stunning face as she observed with her vision how Marlon’s strength grew once more.

"Is that all the venom you’ve got! Pathetic."

Marlon taunted as the liquid venom slid off his body.

The veil of energy wrapped around him made it so that even his clothes were unscathed by the venom, which was potent enough to melt items as tough and big as cars.

[Venom Adaptation: +10% Strength... Time Remaining: 59 seconds]

He gazed at the notification, and his greed for more surged.

He taunted the beast until it went all out and spat out many large balls of venom.

At this point, its rage had dulled the little intelligence it once possessed. All its thought processes spiraled around killing Marlon, and as a result, all the discoveries it had made so far in the battle — especially how Marlon could use its venom to its advantage — vanished.

And Marlon...

He enjoyed the thrill to the fullest. His curses continued after each venom shot, his voice louder and more annoying each turn. If the great serpigon understood human language, it would cough out blood.

[Venom Adaptation: +50% Strength... Time Remaining: 59 seconds]

[Venom Adaptation: +60% Strength... Time Remaining: 59 seconds]

Notification after notification popped up in front of his vision, his confidence and the loudness of his voice growing further after each one.

"Come on! More!"

His voice echoed across the street.

At that moment—

Everyone who had been previously hiding was now watching the battle with the same puzzled expression as Crimson.

Some stood in front of their houses.

The crowd at the hotel Ashton and Marlon stayed in for the night were now standing outside.

Others peeped from their windows.

Even Ashton, who had run away to hide at the beginning, was watching with a dumb look of unbelief on his face.

None of them, including the powerhouse Luke and Crimson, could explain exactly what was going on.

In history, something like this had never been recorded.

The onslaught did not end.

The massive monster shrieked and spat out venom while Marlon’s voice echoed further.

[Venom Adaptation: +90% Strength... Time Remaining: 59 seconds]

"Again, you big fat serpent-looking, smelly, venom-spitting ugly monster!"

SHRIEK!

SPIT!

[Venom Adaptation: +100% Strength... Time Remaining: 59 seconds]

"Perfect!"

Marlon’s crazed voice thundered across the street, so loud and intense that some had to cover their ears.

His strength had doubled from 490 to 980, and his attack power had grown from 1226 to 2452.

The great serpigon, realizing its attacks were futile, charged up.

A fierce venomous aura appeared over its body as it clenched its fist for a final attack to end everything.

It poured all the energy it had into that one strike, ready to risk it all.

With a fierce cry, it sent a devastating downward strike toward the measly human beneath it.

Time seemed to slow as the punch descended at a slowed but menacing pace.

"Pathetic!"

Marlon burst into a full sprint and propelled himself into the air after climbing the nearby hills formed by destroyed cars.

"PUNCH OF JUDGEMENT!"

Using the last set of aether points, he activated his skill.

His fist glowed; his eyes glowed even brighter.

The eyes and mouth of the onlookers shot w

ide open.

Crimson unknowingly clenched her fist so tightly that it began to bleed while her eyes locked onto the scene with deep focus.

And then—

BOOM!
