Adrian materialized on the vibrant green grass of the Factory and immediately strode towards the main structure.

The swirling, colorful sky and the cool breeze tugging at his hair were ignored, as he had no time for the scenery today.

Purpose drove his steps through the large, seamless doorway, and into the heart of the upgraded facility.

The Workshop greeted him, transformed and larger than ever.

Dominating one wall was the complex console of the new Holographic Design Studio.

"Many things to test," Adrian murmured. "But first... Soul Imprint."

The potential of this new ability made him believe that it had something to do with the frustrating F- rating that plagued every invention he made.

And while Adrian wanted to test it, he didn’t plan on making an invention from scratch, rather he planned on using an existing one for that.

He turned and walked to the Assembly Room. The rhythmic hum of the two active production lines filled the air.

He approached the control interface for the newly available third line. With swift mental commands, he programmed it: 5 Rovers (Estimated Completion: 60 hours), 10 Drones (Estimated Completion: 20 hours).

He set a final command: once these specific orders were complete, the line would revert to the default settings shared by lines one and two.



Satisfied the machines would work while he focused elsewhere, he returned to the Workshop.

Standing before the central workbench, he focused. With a thought, a Drone appeared on the smooth surface.

A wave of quiet satisfaction washed over him. ’Good thing I decided to make an extra one before.’

His gloved hand reached out, resting on the drone’s cool, dark blue metal casing.

He took a steadying breath, centering himself as he willed the drone to bear his mark, his essence.

It wasn’t a command to activate its rotors or sensors; it was a deeper, more fundamental imposition of his presence onto its very structure.

He focused his intent, pouring his tempered will towards the inert machine.

His fingers traced the familiar grooves on the drone’s underside, finding the elegantly etched pattern.

This time, he directed his will not just at the drone, but through the ’AD’ insignia, using it as a conduit.

Power flowed from him, invisible but potent, a focused stream of his newly amplified soul energy.

The grooves of the insignia ignited with a sudden, brilliant, electric blue light.

It blazed like captured lightning, etching the ’AD’ pattern in pure, searing energy against the dark metal. Adrian watched, fascinated, as the light pulsed within the grooves.

Then, as swiftly as it had flared, the intense blue light faded, sinking into the metal itself. The ’AD’ mark remained, but now it held a subtle, deep sheen.

It looked like polished obsidian set against the drone’s dark blue finish – a bright black that seemed to absorb the light around it, making it stand out starkly yet elegantly.

He realized he had instinctively willed this specific color change as part of the imprint, a visual signature of his soul’s touch.

The moment the light fully subsided, System notifications bloomed in his vision:

A sharp flicker of disappointment cut through the triumph.

’Only to E?’

That felt minimal. But it was swiftly washed away by a fierce wave of excitement. It worked!

The elusive, frustrating rating could be changed. This was undeniable proof. This was just the first step on a new path.

"Autonomy," he breathed aloud, the word feeling heavy with significance. "So that’s the true name of the rating. Not just function, but independence..."

He didn’t need the System to explain the most immediate benefit.

Closing his eyes, he mentally reached along the newly formed, intangible tether connecting him to the drone.

Instantly, his perspective shifted. He wasn’t seeing the Workshop ceiling through his own eyes, but through the drone’s frame.

It gave him a slightly wide-angled, monochromatic view of the ceiling tiles, the edge of the workbench, and his own gloved hand resting near the drone’s body.

He opened his physical eyes, experiencing the strange, exhilarating sensation of dual vision for a second before letting the drone’s feed recede to the background of his awareness.

The implications detonated in his mind. Spying. Surveillance. Intelligence.

If every invention he sold bore his mark... He could see through them all. Monitor the Association’s inner workings, track shipments across the city, observe customers using his gear... and with his enhanced cognitive power, the ability to process multiple complex streams simultaneously, he could potentially monitor feeds from countless of his creations at the same time without strain.

Adrian’s ambition surged. "I could map the whole Kingdom!" The words echoed boldly in the vast, quiet Workshop.

"The whole continent... Even... this entire world!"

Visions filled his mind: aerial drones crisscrossing continents, feeding him real-time data of uncharted oceans, towering mountain ranges, sprawling cities, and every part of them. A complete, dynamic map generated by his own marked inventions.

But reality was cold, and he quickly tempered his blazing fantasy.

A nervous mage spotting an unfamiliar drone buzzing overhead could easily blast it from the sky with a chant.

But the solution crystallized instantly. Stealth. Invisibility. Camouflage. His mind began churning: energy-dampening fields, adaptive optical camouflage that mimicked the sky or terrain, perception filters that made the mind slide away from noticing it, sound suppression...

He could gain all these knowledge from the System Shop!

The challenge was immense, but the path forward was suddenly illuminated. It could be done.

He looked down at the drone on the bench. The connection with it was evident now.

It felt like an extension of himself.



"I have to imbue my mark on all my inventions so far," Adrian declared.

He was grateful he still had a lot left to deliver, so he still had time to mark them all.

But the thought of manually marking each of them right now felt like a distraction. It could wait.

He could perform the Soul Imprint later, even outside the Factory during the cooldowns.

Right now, a far larger, more foundational goal beckoned. It was a purpose he had nurtured like a secret flame since the moment he first set foot in the desolate, dangerous Corrupted Lands.

The arrival of the Simulation Chamber hadn’t just made this goal possible; it had transformed that distant dream into an immediate, tangible project he could begin today.

The Chamber was the missing key, the perfect, risk-free testing ground he had been lacking.

Adrian turned away from the drone on the workbench. His gaze swept the pristine Workshop, before finally settling on another sealed doorway, one that hadn’t existed before the upgrade.

It led deeper into the Factory’s new depths, towards the Simulation Chamber.

The time for bold action and for the foundational work of his grand ambition, was now.

A slow, determined smile touched his lips, reflecting the fierce light of purpose in his eyes. Adrian took a step towards the Chamber door.
